@Kira i just read this on the Steam Page Announcement: This upcoming online action RPG will deliver unparalleled immersive gameplay, with a strong emphasis on intense, visceral combat. Dude I remember when archage first came out my brother and i were going out on the sea stealing trade packs and causing chaos, it was truly an epic mmo back then, hope archage 2 will stand out too
I think this is the first time I've ever heard Kira put something in a positive light. :^) -- I played AA1 shortly after launch for awhile, he's not wrong. Game was fantastic, until it wasn't. So this is cautiously exciting. **VERY** cautiously.
Nothing is next generation about this game unless 5000 players can be on screen at the same time in a massive PvE/PvP/PvEvP battle. These games always have tons of instanced content and low actual player count due to network/engine limitations. And scripting in most MMO's are just as bad as they were 20 years ago.
Next generation just means it can run on consoles at 30% the quality of a high end pc, it's just pointless console talk that's been left in the dust for the past 30 years.
It's not just network/engine limitations. There are also severe gameplay implications. In my experience the more people the more chaotic and braindead things become. You just can't do a whole lot of good, meaningful gameplay with too many people, especially not in PvE - unless you enjoy tons of kill stealing, resource competition or world boss battles where there are so many effects on screen that you might get an epileptic seizure (if your rig can even handle all that and won't drop into single digit FPS). I assume that's also why a majority of coop games have settled with 4-5 players max. In game design more doesn't necessarily mean better. I'm always a little surprised how some people seem to struggle to understand that and tend to wet their pants in sheer excitement over "thousand this" and "bazillion that". This sort of naivety is one of the reasons why genuine scammers or studios like HelloGames get away with how they misrepresent their games. It's not a crime to be excited for things, but this attitude and in part also uneducation about simple game design necessities is setting these people up to get disappointed. No wonder some can't enjoy MMOs anymore with these unrealistic expectations.
@@Lenariet When you've got a lot of people fighting at once, the only real choice to be useful will be whoever had the best AoE, because single target effects will simply not be worth it.
Archages court system was the best attempt for a judicial system in a game ever to date. Being captured then going to court and having a judge who was a player, then being found guilty or not guilty followed by going to jail and talking with the people there about how you got cought or if you were infamous players just being in awe you finally got caught Is the most unique and amazing experience in gaming bar none.i really hope it returns
It was a cool idea in theory but in practice it was just everyone getting a laugh at the person on trial before hitting guilty. You would never see an innocent verdict unless it was some small amount of time, because that's boring and uninteresting.
“...It completely lost what it was meant to be by trying to become something it was not. And no one wanted what it became.” This is pure poetry, my friend! This is the #1 killer of creative expression (and living authentically).
I have amazing memories and friendships from the old ArcheAge. I remember the game becoming worse and worse, people leaving, guildies houses getting demolished... It was kinda sad. Years later I reinstalled AA, my characters were still there, so I rode/drove/sailed around on my mounts, vehicles and boats, visited old places. Some time later there was the announcement people need to log in to get their characters transferred to the new servers or they get deleted. I didn't log in, I decided to let the past die and keep the good memories. So it is kinda baffling kakao games are trying it again.
I tried Archeage at launch. Bots were everywhere, taking all the land, porting to complete caravan quests instantly, farming / exploiting everything. It was nuts and not what I expected. Nonbots would kill/boss steal, node steal, and act like unbelievable assholes in-game on a level I never knew was possible. I quit and never looked back. The funny thing is that this sort of bullshit became the norm. Kids seemed to think that running 3rd party programs to cheat wasn't cheating, just "how they liked to play the game," and it was fine if they were ruining the game for everyone else, all that matter was their own experience. They were afraid to group with others, refused to cooperate when they did, and had no reservations about lying, cheating, and stealing, and used the report function purely as a means to bully others. New MMORPGs never really recaptured their former glory after that (2013) and most things entertainment-wise turned into shit from 2014 on. That's pretty much humanity's experience as a whole trying to deal with Millennials. And for me, it all started with Archeage.
I never played Archeage but I did spend years on Black Desert Online. Had to quit due to mental health issues that game and the gear upgrading systems have caused me (don't you love it when everything you own downgrades and breaks, costing hours to fix?). If Archeage Chronicles has no downgrade systems then I might check it out. I honestly don't care that much about p2w aspects except for when they cause what you already own to get worse because you didn't pay for safeguards to stop the possibility of downgrade.
nothing downgrades, you just end up stuck not being able to upgrade anymore since the trade runs that make you actual gold get stolen by p2w guys with impossible to obtain gear that will beat you up non stop and all you can do is stop playing, no pvp area will be accessible since they will be camping, the labour sistem will make sure to make the game unplayable since all you can do without labour is.. walk around. The game is great, they screwed it up real good tho.. I suggest you to go for ArcheRage instead, not that p2w at the cost of a few updates behind. Gl
In b4 it's ruined by p2w. what you can't spend 100s a week on RNG gear upgrades and rng loot boxes. looks like you'll be content for those who do. or perpetually behind the curve.
This is the most hopeful I’ve seen Kira in a long time, almost like he’s advertising for the game lol. What happened today Kira, you just have an overly exciting day today?
The only thing i disliked about original Archeage was the server merges. I get why they did it....but when you're a land baron with almost 30 buildings down across both continents that took months to get just right and then having to reset it over and over made it very frustrating.
@@kennethnoisewater4423 I thought that would be what happens but there wasn't really ever that moment. He reaches the end of the video praising it still and talking about how excited he is. Idk it rubs me very strangely. I'm sure Kira wants this game to be good but surely he can't be on enough copium to buy the hype
Kira, you're selling us this game pretty well with this video. I put it on my wish list and will follow the news. Lets hope it'll become as good as you hope it will be.
Awesome overview. I hope they've learnt their lesson, my favourite gaming moments are from the original. So I'll hold onto hope after everything they do the right thing
I actually liked the first one. Minus the absolutely awful monetization. And time gating crafting mechanics with mobile practices like stamina. I thought the gliding was cool. Building ships and sailing the sea and being a pirate was fun. The pvp unless you were up against a mega whale was not bad. owning your own property and building a guild hall was great. I hope they do all of this but make it better and far less nickle and diming your customers every time you want to do something. The p2w was some of the worst i have ever experienced.
I disagree about lack of competition. Throne and Liberty is coming out October 1st and has a very well thought out monetisation system which makes it very fair for free to play players. I believe that will be the game that sets the standard for how MMOs should be ran and how the pay to win aspects should be handled.
Archeage 1 was from day 1 very heavy pay to win, you needed a tranport tractor to transport trade packs, which needed a tree that needed to be struck by lightning to make the engine. The only realistic way to do that was to buy the high likely hood of being struck by lightning from the cash shop loot box. I expect this game to be worse than that, even tho i am exited to see it
I really did love Archeage until it went into a tailspin. The pvp and criminal system in the game was pretty damn fun. Even the skirmishes when it came to trade runs where memorable.
I had to share a house because so many people brought land 😂 I loved crafting and farming I remember the pirates robbed me and my teammates but we had so much fun. Then they fucked up and made it play to win. I’ll wait for the reviews
AA1 was very innovative, but it's also one of the most p2w games I've ever played. In that game it's morally justified for the rich to steal from the homeless(and I'm talking hall monitor type stuff) so you need to join a guild or join pirates if you wanted to make any long term progress without paying for a home as a F2P player. Hopefully things changed since I left.
If the original game was good, the monetization wouldn't have stopped it's success. In fact, games tend to fail first AND THEN they implement heavy monetization to make up for the money lost due to the failure. I have played A LOT of games with micro-transactions over the years and in my experience, the more successful a game gets, the less P2W and more casual friendly they become. If they have a large player-base, they have less a need to squeeze those whales for every penny. There are WAY more causals than there are hardcore players, and causals do actually spend casually even if they don't play a whole lot, since they actually have jobs.
@@kirareacts u do understand kakao stole from the players like credits and items and tons items lost as in costume and mats and never replaced hell they never even apologised, its like employing a company u trusted them once to do a job they they rob u blind instead and think nothing of it, so would u trust them again and employ them again, u would be pretty dumb to do so.
Kakao running it is kinda scary. I liked archeage when I played it originally in beta and release, I just never like open world PvP, so I quit long before trion ruined it. I'd welcome a chance to give the vision another shot, but I know I won't play it for long =v = I hope its good though, because that action combat looks like it'll be so much fun.
Thinking of my time in Archeage compared with the info available for this new version... sounds awful. I expect the potential to be ruined in various ways just like in Archeage. And too many people now turn every game into a full time job so any reliance on pvp at best will hold an mmorpg back to only being a niche game. I did really like the class design stuff quite a lot and found myself wishing there was a more quest/pve story heavy version of such a game. I also did enjoy the open world general feel immensely and some of the holiday events. So it's not like there's zero hope for this new game. I just think there's too many ways in way it can go wrong. I also loved playing with my galleon that I built myself but ultimately couldn't do much with it since there wasn't very minimal sea exploring to do that wasn't in pvp areas. I also built my own car which was fun for a bit until realizing there weren't many goals to have. I was with an active powerful guild for a while too, so I did experience that side of the game.. and it got old real fast. Too hectic to keep up with that side of things in such a game.
1:30 doesn't sound like it's the case based on this quote from the Executive Producer "In lieu of a direct sequel, we've prepared a fresh take on the ArcheAge universe by shifting away from large-scale competitive battles to smaller group activities and interactive adventures. Our aim is for ArcheAge Chronicles to be approachable and enjoyable for both veteran players as well as those who are just joining our world."
I try many mmos to find something for a while. My home is in eorzea but vacation home in tyria and find some enjoyment from the long list of mmo worlds to try. Ill put this one on the list and eventually try as well.
Seems strange watching one of your videos where you throw out all your usual critical thinking and analysis to glaze a game that has next to no info out about it. 80% of this video is you hyping it up on it might be this or that and then quickly glossing over the failures of the other 2 archeage failures. I was a big archeage fan ($150 beta player) and want this to be good but this video just seems weird coming from you.
The high system requirements in combination with action combat make me think this is not going to be a "real" MMORPG. If I wanted intense action combat and graphics, I would play God of War or something.
12:08 I'd say its probably a fair bet the cash shop won't make half the players quit overnight. More due to lowered standards for monetization than anything else though.
This sounds too good to be true. As such I'll be ignoring that initial gut reaction and throwing money at this as soon as I can. You know, like a moron would do.
It’s crazy how u said the Competition is nonexistent when 2025 is literally THE YEAR for Action MMO RPG games. We got Chrono Odyssey, Crimson Desert, DokeV (really that’s releasing in 2026 due to them prioritizing Crimson Desert first) we got Dune Awakening, Where Winds Meet, and Hell Is Us The competition is definitely there 😂 My wallet gonna be drained next year😭🤣
While Archeage 2 looks very good and I wish it the very best, I already have an mmo I'm invested in and sadly don't have the time to pick up another one. Still, hope those who pick it up have a ton of fun, and that this doesn't go the same way as the previous two!

Gave up playing MMOs a few years ago but like to hear about them still.
Ive never heard Kira this excited
He really loved Archeage for a time, so I don't blame him for being hopeful.
Dude I remember when archage first came out my brother and i were going out on the sea stealing trade packs and causing chaos,
it was truly an epic mmo back then, hope archage 2 will stand out too
I just gotta say this as someone entirely new to the scene, "It's looking like an MMO Elden Ring". And that's kinda what sold me.
I think this is the first time I've ever heard Kira put something in a positive light. :^) -- I played AA1 shortly after launch for awhile, he's not wrong. Game was fantastic, until it wasn't. So this is cautiously exciting. **VERY** cautiously.
Great video, short and sweet, to the point, subscribed.
Being captured then going to court and having a judge who was a player, then being found guilty or not guilty followed by going to jail and talking with the people there about how you got cought or if you were infamous players just being in awe you finally got caught
Is the most unique and amazing experience in gaming bar none.i really hope it returns
The moment I saw the Trion logo I knew...
This feels like an advertisement
And for me, it all started with Archeage.
damn Kakao Games.. even Amazon is a better publisher..
I think Archeage is one of the greatest mmos of our time. its tragic that greed killed it
This video felt so weird
Gl
@@aty4282 items did downgrade or break when you were regrading them
In b4 it's ruined by p2w. what you can't spend 100s a week on RNG gear upgrades and rng loot boxes. looks like you'll be content for those who do. or perpetually behind the curve.
is trion worlds in it?
Good job Ashes of Creation is still 75 years away from Beta...
This is the most hopeful I’ve seen Kira in a long time, almost like he’s advertising for the game lol. What happened today Kira, you just have an overly exciting day today?
Cryyfuu clips got me feeling nostalgic. Damn, feels like a lifetime ago.
I was just day dreaming about my old days in Archeage and wondering if they had any private servers.
archerage and aaclassic are the things you want to google for
The only thing i disliked about original Archeage was the server merges. I get why they did it....but when you're a land baron with almost 30 buildings down across both continents that took months to get just right and then having to reset it over and over made it very frustrating.
If they make the fishing as good as the first one, with ships I would buy this :P
This sounds like an AD. This looks like mostly UE5 assets tacked together. Trailer even looks like a UE5 tech demo... weird video Kira
It really does feel like an ad the whole way through.
I kinda thought that was intentional. on the surface the game looks great, then *record scratch* KakaoGames, p2w etc.
A lot of potential here. Color me intrigued but also very wary.
Damn. i didn't know the sad tale of Archeage. You are correct. This was a disaster for what could've been great.
Highly. Caustiously optimistic.
It looks exactly like what i wpuld want in a new MMO.
Lets see how it turns out.
Never heard of this game before... Looks awesome good potential.... I am interested.
Had one of the best weapons on a server back in the day thanks to dumb luck miss that game
I disagree about lack of competition. Throne and Liberty is coming out October 1st and has a very well thought out monetisation system which makes it very fair for free to play players. I believe that will be the game that sets the standard for how MMOs should be ran and how the pay to win aspects should be handled.
Tnl is likely to be dead long before this releases.
@@kirareacts if TnL dies before new world i will do infinite backflips
👍
@@kirareacts Yeh but why did you make this video feel like it's an advertisement?
I didn't.
Why would they even name it archeage, thats just sets up enough red flags
I can’t wait for Archeage 2. Played the first one a lot.
I had never heard of the original. Based on the trailer I thought co-op story based rpg. Will it still have story? I’m happy it’s action based.
There has only been one game in the history of Korea that had a respectable business model combined with quality. I doubt this one will be the second
Archeage? Didn't that horribly fail?
Yes because they became play to win. I was there for the launch and they fucked up which would have been a great game.
@@kellygoodman6167pay2win* Thunderstruck logs...
“Next generation of mmos”
*10 player limit*
🤡 archeage 0.5.
There are WAY more causals than there are hardcore players, and causals do actually spend casually even if they don't play a whole lot, since they actually have jobs.
hope they paid well bro
Is "they" in the room with you bro?
@@kirareacts u do understand kakao stole from the players like credits and items and tons items lost as in costume and mats and never replaced hell they never even apologised, its like employing a company u trusted them once to do a job they they rob u blind instead and think nothing of it, so would u trust them again and employ them again, u would be pretty dumb to do so.
Are you replying to someone else? Because nothing you just said had any relevance to anything I said.
@@kirareacts They are replying to your video, whispering u here so u see it cause u posted.
The only mmo worth it at the moment is still & only Final Fantasy 14 but this one looks stunning. I would try 🙏🏼
FNTASTIC is back and are making a new game called Escape Factory
1:30 doesn't sound like it's the case based on this quote from the Executive Producer
"In lieu of a direct sequel, we've prepared a fresh take on the ArcheAge universe by shifting away from large-scale competitive battles to smaller group activities and interactive adventures. Our aim is for ArcheAge Chronicles to be approachable and enjoyable for both veteran players as well as those who are just joining our world."
I will wait and see
I try many mmos to find something for a while. My home is in eorzea but vacation home in tyria and find some enjoyment from the long list of mmo worlds to try. Ill put this one on the list and eventually try as well.
Try ArcheAge Classic. A non p2w private server, brings back the amazing game.
I'm gonna be real. This doesn't look like an MMO. It doesn't even look like Archeage. Where's the fucking library grind?
you liked library grind? wtf is wrong with you
@@CreetEnemyDK lmao
fr library grind was really cozy, some people didnt like it but for me the later versions with hiram and erenor were much worse
Idk why but it felt weird hearing a hopeful kira video
I'm ngl that character looking like it was running full speed but moving in slow motion kinda throwing me off.
Yeh this feels like an ad...
It’s deffo going to be like Bless online glad you said it at the end 🤣
The high system requirements in combination with action combat make me think this is not going to be a "real" MMORPG. If I wanted intense action combat and graphics, I would play God of War or something.
Depends on the new world relaunch OCT 15th I guess
They better make up for what they did with AA and AA:U. Still pissed about that
12:08 I'd say its probably a fair bet the cash shop won't make half the players quit overnight. More due to lowered standards for monetization than anything else though.
This sounds too good to be true. As such I'll be ignoring that initial gut reaction and throwing money at this as soon as I can. You know, like a moron would do.
Betting that the microtransactions will kill it, leaving this here so I can comeback at that time.
It’s crazy how u said the Competition is nonexistent when 2025 is literally THE YEAR for Action MMO RPG games. We got Chrono Odyssey, Crimson Desert, DokeV (really that’s releasing in 2026 due to them prioritizing Crimson Desert first) we got Dune Awakening, Where Winds Meet, and Hell Is Us
The competition is definitely there 😂
My wallet gonna be drained next year😭🤣
It looks amazing , but if there is no pvp i wont be so excited.
I want it to be good, but I have no trust in a Korean mmo to not have some of the most dog-shit monetisation around. I guess we'll see.
While Archeage 2 looks very good and I wish it the very best, I already have an mmo I'm invested in and sadly don't have the time to pick up another one. Still, hope those who pick it up have a ton of fun, and that this doesn't go the same way as the previous two!
This is going to yet another MMORPG flop. Goes to show how many people don't know the definition of insanity...
You don't know the definition of insanity, clearly
This is possibly a blind shot, but does someone who played the old ArcheAge on European servers remember Fishermandan?
man I remmber when captain shack (the XPgamer) did the video for Archage pre launch when they the paid beta and he loved it.
game launch the launch was a disaster. housing just broke on day 1.
and then later he did the video about how the first video he did (beta video) was no longer true like all the good thing he said was gone.
I was so confused when I saw kakao games logo during the State of Play. I have no idea how they plan to run that game smoothly on PS5 potato hardware.
kakao = zero expectations
(I'm just curious how much they will milk their cow)
