As a lineman it’s a good idea to have 2 lineman ropes to clip in around obstacles while clipping off the second time . Just an suggestion if someone is concerned about unhooking

It did take some time getting used to climbing and descending the tree. Once I figured it out I was comfortable going in climbing a tree knowing I was going to be up a tree quickly and most importantly quite not scaring every deer out of my area. I am 6’2” and 240 lbs, fit and comfort were great. I bow hunt and found no issues hunting from it. It is a little bulky to carry in and out of the woods vs some of the smaller open front climbers but I thought it was worth the bulk/weight due to ease of climbing (using the rail to sit on) and comfort for long sits.
Nice. I love my millenium M 150 stands, So light and stable. Very comfortable and you can shoot a bow comfortably seated.
A friend showed me knot from Papa New Guinea.

Nice video, pretty much exactly how i do my permanent sets for the year.
The only tip I could add is that i tie a loop and a carabiner to the bottom of the safety line about a foot off the ground. When i arrive to my stand i hook my pack to the carabiner at the bottom, which keeps the safety line taught while i climb up. When i'm up and set then i just haul my bag up using the safety line as a gear haul.

I prefer to use bolts instead of the clips in my sticks because you can control how tight the joint is for noise. I wrap the male section in a layer of electrical tape and bolt through the joint using a pair of gear wreches to secure everything

great video but the sticks should go higher than the stand and step down on to the stand. It's safer that way.

That is true and what most manufacturers would tell you. I don’t think he was trying to make a safety video either. You’d never want to NOT be attached to the tree like when moving your lineman’s belt. I use a 2nd lineman’s belt or the safety line
You made that look really easy! I would question if unhitching the linesman's belt, so that you are not secure and could slip and hit the ground is safe practice. A double version as you mentioned would be way safer. Usually there is no one else around when we do this!

I agree 100%, he was not tied in at times, I do the same process but I use another HSS lineman strap and move it up as I go, it attaches to my tether. That way when I remove my lineman belt to go around a branch etc I am tied off. He did mention having 2 lineman belts, but doesn't do it. Personally, I like knowing I am tied in at all times.
There's also what I call a hay knot of course I'm a farmer so naturally I call it a hay knot bit it could be the name I've not looked it up but any how I'm rambling it works just the same as that knot but less confusing.
I would rather use the old chain type block than the strap. Millennium is the Cadillac of stands. Only unsafe thing about them, they are so comfortable you can easily fall asleep in them. Always tie off.
I’m happy for you, you’ve done really well for yourself. I just can’t afford to pay $200 a lb for deer I kill hell I can’t afford the land. It’s become a rich man’s sport. And guys are looked down upon if they don’t have the latest and greatest. I tried to get onto several bowhunting FB pages but got the hell off them. There’s so many clueless younger generation that do not care about seasoned hunters (44 years here.. ). Experiences or as advice. I think they love their equipment more than they do the purity of the hunt.. sorry to vent.. and I’m truly happy for you. And support you however you may approach our great heritage. Stay well. As the younger generation (28 years old) cant really say a agree with you, used a youth bow cap out at 60# for years and i killed a lot of deer with it. just upgraded to a new hoyt earlier this year thanks to Donny Trump. While i do love it at the end of the day i hunt for the sport, challenge and ultimately the meat. I just dont like the orange army that only hunts for 4 days a year that doesn't know shit about hunting.
You are sure right about it becoming a rich man’s sport ! I’m 67 and still can’t afford the $200 per pound either. I wouldn’t pay it if I could bc imo it’s not being frugal with your money. Good luck hunting poor man’s style like me.
Great video. What did you tie your lifeline to on top? On your stand or ratchet strapped to the tree?
Wrap around tree and pull free standing end thru loop along with the prussik knot pull down on it to cinch it up.

Hey man .. it’s a black diamond alpine bod rock climbing harness.. I bought three different rock climbing harnesses and liked this one the best ... then get a beal dynaclip tether this is what hooks into the tree rope or lifeline ... you will have to make your own lineman loops I made mine out of spectra webbing and had it sewn into the harness .. you could also just weave and tie the webbing into the harness with a water knot!

I appreciate you helping me with this video.. I was trying to put one up today and man it was tough..but the way u did it makes it loook easy. I’m 260 lb and I am not trying to fall out of a Treestand. My only problem is trying to find the right tree. I think a pine tree was the worse tree to put it in..but I don’t have a lot of trees around. So what should I do?
Hey man ... I always opt for the tree that’s in the exact spot I want it even if there’s not much cover ... Then you can cut you a bunch of cedar branches or pine bring it up there with you and ratchet or bungee to the tree for back cover ... you are better off doing this than being in the perfect tree with all the natural cover in the world that’s not in exactly the right spot!💪👍

Damn man all that rattling racket done ran all the deer off before you even got started man!
He wasn't hunting he was setting up to hunt them deer will be right back in a hour or two. I've been hunt 30 years and not see a deer make all kinds of noise and coming down the stand and there's a deer standing laughing at me about 50 yards away!!

What line men’s rope are you using? I need to upgrade mine. I use the HSS strap but would much rather use a rope.
I think that is a DIY one. You may be able to buy the rope pre-tied but if not you can make your own with climbing rope, two carabiners and a ropeman ascender. A prusik knot will work too (instead of the ropeman ascender).

One last question for ya. Are those millennium steps hard to use with bigger boots? I live in da north and sometimes the bigger boots don't catch them that good. TIA again

Just millennium sticks.. I pre tie each strap so it doesn’t slip when I pull the tag end

Yes, we often find ourselves having the wrong tree in the right spot. Instead of compromising and finding a better tree, we work with what we have. Sometimes that means bringing branches or even small cedar trees up into the tree as cover to build a "nest." As we get closer to the season we will make a video on how we do this! That knot is a ‘Truckie knot’ before the proliferation of ratchet straps

Those are custom made from a climbing harness and climbing rope. You may be able to find some DIY videos on how to do it.
That knot is a truckers hitch
Little trick/ tip. When moving your flipline(lineman belt) unhook the carabiner, not your adjuster. Less to get caught in branches, no tail of rope to hassle you, and that carabiner has some weight, use it to toss it around the tree.

Two quick points, only because you mentioned "safety." NEVER rely on hugging the tree to get into a stand. Statistics say that's where most accidents occur. Run your ladder above your stand. Second....use a pulley and haul your stand up the tree from the ground. WHen you stand on the ladder and pull the treestand up by rope, the stand weight is pulling you down. That's bad news. Using the pulley, you can tie off the stand on the ground, climb up and then it's hanging right where you need to hang it and you don't have to hold any weight while you are on your ladder.

@@TheWhitetailGroup do they creak and snap and pop when the tree is moving in the wind? I've had this issue with similar steps.
If you unclip that lineman’s to go around a stick and you get in a hornets nest with no secondary tie off you gonna be in trouble buddy

Most important thing I tried to pick up from video was the sailers knot you used for bottom of life line. Could not see how you did it and did not say what the knot was. 😐
