Such a Massive Upset to lose Pete Didn't even find out until this week Really Really Great Shame Fantastic Band Buzzcocks and perfect pop punk rock Gutted Rest in Peace Pete 🎶🎵🎸
I had a leather jacket like that back in the day....loved it....loved the smell of it....wish I still had it.....wish I was that young again....lol....thanks for posting.
I'm supposed to be applying for a job tonight... does anyone else watch old youtube punk videos when they're supposed to be doing something important? Great song.
This is so freakin' cool! The Buzzcocks were effin' brilliant! Pete Shelley is the epitome of style & has the voice of an angel! This is what you youngsters should be listening to nowadays! Get yourselves a dose!
ntratusol give you dad a kick in the ass. This was my soundtrack while growing up. Its all the same, so enjoy it while its there and dont wish to be anywhere else. Peace!
i had the absolute pleasure of seeing the buzzcocks as i saw lad along with devo and another band i forget the buzzcocks they epitomise the best of british music, fuck the pistols1,theclash3absolutely love music for working class boys.ANOTHER MUSIC IN A DIFFERENT KICHEN
i was brought up on these along side the who, the jam, bad manners and so on thanks 2 my dad. im now 22. i still love my music like, dnb, dubstep and house music but i always come back to my roots now and then... great band
Might as well feel good about it..."it is what it is." I almost forgot about this song. Thanks AARP. I'm about to break something. God, at least Pete Shelley's still alive. Isn't he? Anyway this was always one of my favorite Buzzcocks songs.
Damn, this sounds like classic Blur/Albarn britpop. Had no idea the buzzcocks and blur had such a similar sound (at least with this song), seeing as how they were two decades apart.
back in 81' i was shopping at k-mart and i found a orange t-shirt with white letters in bold saying BUZZCOCKS on it dam it was only $3.49 but thought time damm i wish i still had it
I saw them around '86 (?) at a big dance club that was formally Studio 54. All my friends wanted to go to the VIP lounge and all of a sudden the Buzzcocks were playing on a stage. I couldn't believe it. I said, "That's Pete Shelley!" He played a few songs. (Maybe it wasn't the Buzzcocks, but Pete Shelley. Anyway, my friends didn't know who he was and the crowd was not that responsive. He put on a good show, but I suppose people just don't get him. Pity.
My dad raised me on the buzzcocks, television, the stranglers, joy division. Im only 20 but I feel old no one my age knows what the hell im talking about :(
Lots of T.V. shows used to have bands lip sync to studio tracks rather than play live. Just look at the drummer - he's got a practice pad on his snare.
i thought of a song in my class, and i said "everbody's happy nowadays" and my teacher was like "Oh! i know that song!" and i got confused, because i had never heard it before. and i was singing this song. :l
@scobiedog1 Right? This performance was totally synched, however it doesn't cheapen the immediacy of the real feelings exhibited within the material of the songcraft. Take that 2000's era pop-tart!!!
@scobiedog1 I thought it was about Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, mainly because I think a lot of the lyrics and the title are dialogue in it. Could be an illusion of mine tho.
one of the most underatted bands ever
Such a Massive Upset to lose Pete

This is so freakin' cool! The Buzzcocks were effin' brilliant! Pete Shelley is the epitome of style & has the voice of an angel! This is what you youngsters should be listening to nowadays! Get yourselves a dose!

Groovy times, man.
a classic song, and it gets stuck in your head so you end up singing it all the time.

ntratusol give you dad a kick in the ass. This was my soundtrack while growing up. Its all the same, so enjoy it while its there and dont wish to be anywhere else. Peace!

Once again, Buzzcocks are timeless!
Love The Buzzcocks!!!
Some things never change, maybe the most intelligent pop single ever written
I was there. Punk is over. Everyone is bored. 1979. Dark, dark years. And i was so happy in 1977!
Born in the wrong generation? I've seen Buzzcocks twice just this year! This shit still lives
pure gold!

I think it is great that the song is used in that commercial.
Another great is Iggy Pop's Lust For Life in the cruise ship commercials.

Perfect Huxley via Shelley. What not?
This is a great song-from a pretty good album!
@gooooooooooooooaaaal
I agree with you 100%! they are in fact my favorite punk band of all time!
frigging great.....!!!! I want a time machine!
Lots of T.V. shows used to have bands lip sync to studio tracks rather than play live. Just look at the drummer - he's got a practice pad on his snare.

Hear hear!
i thought of a song in my class, and i said "everbody's happy nowadays" and my teacher was like "Oh! i know that song!" and i got confused, because i had never heard it before. and i was singing this song. :l
Guitar fast bit intro is so good to pogo too.
:)
The Strokes? Well, besides the fact that The Buzzcocks started playing in '76...
@watoowatootheband Yes!!! After applying for 7, I got the last interview. Buzzcocks forever.

1979, THE RITZ N.Y.C.,AMAZING ENERGY!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh ya!
I love the Ash remake. Chris Martin did an awesome job with the general bouncy chorus sound.
@SuperJuno1996 My sentiments exactly
I totally get it. I'm 21 and this is what i grew up on. People our age really dont fucking get it.
FUCK! Is ANYONE else stammering trying to find the right words to describe how amazing that damn bass line is!?
I love me Pete!
@scobiedog1
Right? This performance was totally synched, however it doesn't cheapen the immediacy of the real feelings exhibited within the material of the songcraft.
Take that 2000's era pop-tart!!!
the looks on the german audience is funny, brings a new meaning to sour kraut. lol
no offence intended. :)
i did not know that...
@dunkiep yeah, I'm supposed to be installing the flow controller on the unit#1 fuel oil system right now.
2010:Everybody's pissed off nowadays. lol Good song.
You can hear how the strokes got their sound
I know it from the credits of "Shawn of the Dead".
@UTFRG Oh I hear ya...the ignorance is bliss thing. Well we all fail and we're all epic.
Omg this sounds just like The Strokes, or rather the Strokes sound like the Buzzcocks. :)
Based upon all of the positive comments I think it's safe to say that punk is definitiely not dead. :)
That's bizarre. It's the Buzzcocks, who wouldn't be receptive?
Everyone in the crowd is just sitting there o.o
synched for sure
@scobiedog1
I thought it was about Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, mainly because I think a lot of the lyrics and the title are dialogue in it. Could be an illusion of mine tho.
same for me.. =O =\... but don't mind... happy nowadays
@dunkiep : Did you get the job?
Yes, it's a great song btw!

andy warhols long lost twin brother on drums
Some kids today choose this over those other shit
Did Pete forget to take his guitar on the trip with him? :)
@pbrick6301 turned the volume down i think
i think they meant it in a good way that the buzzcocks are timeless?
I like the one by Ash better. I heard it on the end credits of "Shaun of the Dead"
Clearly an Influence on The Strokes and all the rest
did the audience just get through a lobotomy or something? Move dammit!
You could totally beat the shit out of people to this song.
the audience isnt doing anything cause they probley never even heard of the buzzcocks. this was kinda early in there carrer.
