Bought this in my local Woolworths when i was 17. Nobody else did through as it was only a minor hit. I was a massive Stranglers fan and this sounded like an angry Hugh Cornwell ripping his way through a Stranglers song ! I hit 50 this month week and still think it`s fantastic.

stereogrIm I think maybe the best bands are always underrated,, as they are so unique. ,,, The buzzcocks are a fantastic band. And they Still sound superb today , so the shite bands like. Duran Duran etc are always overrated ,, The likes of the buzzcocks , the damned. Etc Are just far too good for. The typical ears of the squares & the boring set ,,, so it means the elite group of people who are fans of the genius bands are far and few between , unfortunately ,as there is not too many of us who have a great ear for great music

Growing up in the frontier of Northern Michigan, amid miners and lumberjacks, nothing inspired me more on my drive to school than the Buzzcocks. +Michael Westfall Then again, it's a TV show. Probably didn't want it too wild as it distracts from the band miming to their song. American Bandstand was the same - I remember John Lydon pulling people off the bleachers trying to get them to dance while he pointedly avoided trying to look like he was singing - closing his mouth, tapping the equipment with the dead mic, etc.

The Buzzcocks played in a different division to the Stranglers. Not saying it was "better", but I preferred it. Pete Shelley should be knighted for his services to the 70's and 80's.
