Hey guys. heres a trick to make the sign placing faster. Do the setting to toggle sneak so you don't have to resneak. Also, some of you don't know pressing esc also get you out of the sign. Hope this helps!
This is the second trident farm build I've tried and I couldn't be happier. Especially because my base is literally on a river biome so all my farms can work while I sit here and gain more experience than I have any other way. Thank you!!!
you can improve this farm more by having the drowned all pushed into a nether portal instead of the drop chute. That way they don't count against the spawn limit in the overworld and you can afk for an hour or so just letting them flow into the nether. Go through that portal and create your kill chamber there, make it a good size so they have room to prevent death due to cramming. When you're done with your afking you can go through a separate nether portal (seriously you don't want to go through the one from the farm) and stroll over to your kill chamber to swing your sword at them. with this little modification you build up drowned way faster and don't have to stand there at your PC killing them to keep the spawns going.
And on a positive note ... I've seen this exact build on another video. But this is by far the most clear example and explanation. I appreciate the way you demonstrate instructions. Gonna have to actually Subscribe to your feed @moretingz!
It took me around 125 drowned, but I got my first trident. I just need another one for the Riptide/Channeling Duo and great! Thank you very much for the excellent explanation and going directly to the main point.
Hey man, nice video. One thing. Your design for me had a bunch of drowned dying to fall damage. I moved the slabs, hoppers, and chests at the bottom up by one block and it seems to be working. Thanks a bunch for the video.
side note: dont try building it in an ocean at all because according to the minecraft fandom wiki ''In ocean biomes, drowned spawn at Y < 58, or at least 6 blocks below sea level; this restriction does not apply to rivers." so building this in the sky goes way past the 58 coordonate limit.
Tip : you can just go to nether and then go to your netherite mining area and pop at least a stack of tnt and then take all the netherrack from mining and blasting for building blocks. Was super fast and easy to grind for. I even got some ancient debris along the way
Tip: you can also use scaffolding in place of ladders. Saves time In addition to being the best option to nab tridents (on Java edition) you also get copper ingots and nautilus shells from the farm as well, so you can make plenty of conduits
Took me a while to build but it was WORTH IT! A day after finishing it and doing short AFK sessions, I had 6 tridents (2 of which had loyalty, impaling, and unbreaking and one that had max riptide and unbreak 3). Also I didn't have looting three, so this farm has been infinitely helpful. (Btw the enchants are purely enchantment table and the XP I got from the farm). Thank you!
Simple and straight forward, thanks! A tip for beginners like me I wish i figured out before i was 70% done and my little pinkie burned, set your sneak to togglemode so you stay crouched when pressed once while placing the signs.

Having built this on a server, it sounds like your farm may only be partially in a river biome, or it's far too close to spawn. Mine works on a populated server with no issues, I just built it a few hundred blocks away and its perfectly centered in a river biome chunk.
@@itzyuzuruclips it really does affect how the mobcap works in minecraft, the farm does work but the more people, the less efficiency, like practically 99% of the farms affected by mob spawning
This farm works on 1.20.1. I farmed for an hour with a sword that had looting 3, smite 5, and sweeping edge 3 with NO TRIDENT DROPS. I switched to a sword with only looting 3 and 3 tridents dropped in 10 minutes.
I made this a second time and it worked fine that time the first time i made this in at an ocean then i make this in a river its worked great. This is very valuable. I found 4 tridents in 30 minutes. Thanks for the video
Built this on a Realm and followed the build exactly. Bubble elevator to get to the bottom of the drop shaft definitely has been super useful and worthwhile. Finished the farm in maybe 3 hours solo. Used a looting III sword. About 10% of the build actually ended up being in a non-river biome but the spwan rate still seems good and I'm getting about 4 tridents an hour. Best one so far was unbreaking III, loyalty III, Impaling III! Some of the mobs do die on dropping so I'm going to experiment with water logging the slabs and seeing if that makes a difference in triton yields.
@@MBuckshot4511 In an ocean biome drowned mobs only spawn under sea level. In river biomes they will spawn in water above sea level. Not sure why no mobs spawned in the one you built in a river biome though. Are you sure mobs aren’t spawning? Maybe it’s an issue with the bottom of the farm with the water streams or sign placement.
@@MBuckshot4511 it doesn’t matter as long as there’s a continuous row of signs. I’d go into the farm and look at the bottom layer and see if there are drowned mobs trapped in the system or if there are indeed no mobs spawning. I would be that there are mobs trapped in the system and it’s just an issue with the funneling and dropping of the mobs. You also have to be at the base of the drop shaft for mobs to spawn.
I have another tip... I watched about 4 drowned with tridents die on the slabs right in front of me, so I went up to the water streams and added another water source to extend it out, then put signs on all four block spaces in the drop chute... I have checked and now and then a drowned will get stuck in those extra water sources so I'm sure a couple more signs and a water source a block higher will fix that
@@donaldtrump2252 There's much better farm. Checkout Shulkercraft tutorial. It's big, but super simply to build, just require some time and resources, but it's worth it. I have almost rain of drowneds. Before I built roof, I got 17 tridents in one hour. After building roof it's much, much more efficient and I will stay afk for whole night, so I will get more tridents than I will ever use or sell to other players :D Also I had to build shulker loader system, because this farm is that efficient ;)
@@donaldtrump2252 I idle in mine a lot. I'll set up a trap door, hold down the right mouse button to flip it open/close/open etc. then press F3+T to reload resources, let go of right mouse button then sit there AFK for like an hour at a time. I get TONNES of drops and XP.
Thanks Man, this helped me out a ton! I got two tridents from this method, I will say Looting 3 on your sword is also a requirement because without it takes FOREVER to get a trident drop.
Thanks for the tutorial! Now that I've built it following the video, some tips/ideas I'd like to share: - For an automatic farm (with an autoclicker) it would be better if the final killing spot would be 1x1 instead of 2x2, even with sweeping edge it doesn't always hit the mobs. (Could use signs to prevent the flowing water from pouring down the middle if it were 1x1) - You could add some more info on the Y levels at various points on the build, I went south at some point and ended up having the drop distance 1 block too much, killing every mob instantly - Bonus tip: You can hold down jump while climbing the ladders, no need to adjust horizontally when going up :) Anyways, a huge thanks for the video!
@@gills2794 unfortunately can't recall exactly how I ended up doing it myself, but at least if you just make the spawn room a bit smaller so that the water will flow to the center block, just add signs all around it and the water won't go past them but the mobs will and make a 1x1 tunnel down. Just make sure all of the water is flowing and not still when they meet the signs
this is a great farm got 5 trident in less than an hour only adjustment i made was 21 blocks for the drop chute not 22 the top water pushes them to a 23 block drop which kills them thanks for the tutorial
@@ankontini i ended up raising the platform where they land by 1 block and they dont die anymore some have 1/2 heart some have 1 heart but i have a good sword so they are still 1 hit kill: PS i love minecraft nice to see someone enjoying the game aswell
@@matthew1360 :) did you raise it to 20 blocks? I replaced now the slabs with beds because I was too greedy and didnt want even that rare drowned with little health to die :))).
Quick tip: for faster placing, enable both toggle spring and toggle sneak, then open f3 and find the "Facing:" and move your mouse up and down until the second number to somewhere between 74 and 78. Hope this makes it easier; it certainly did for me.
It does work, its just not really efficient. It is a very simple design and doens't take long to build (depending in what stage you are in your world). I think its ok, as most people only need one or two tridents, and for that its a good design. You also need to look out that all of the chamber is really in the river biome, if its in the plains biome no mobs will spawn in that part of the chamber.
Hunted for a legit trident for hours and I gave up and finally built this. The first drowned with a trident dropped it from this spawner. I didn’t even have looting 3 yet just wanted to make sure it worked and got really lucky.
Worked like a charm! It took me a minute to sort out how to get back up and down to bring enough materials to complete the top chamber. I wound up using a combo of waterfall on the outside and then temp dirt blocks to build a scaffolding on so that I could reach Y=294 and top it all off. Now to get the Loyalty + Mending enchantments and I'll be all set!

For some reason this isn’t working at all. I got two drown when I first stepped on the killing platform but it’s been hours and I haven’t seen another one. Any advise
Hey - just built this. It took me honestly about 4 hours straight to build, the spawn chamber is really big. Someone had suggested using lava cast and I tried this but Im just a noob, skill issue honestly It was just going all over the place so I handplaced all the blocks. The farm is working well. Within the first 3 minutes I collected 3 nautical shells. (?) But now I will AFK for an hour. Will update here on how many tridents I get. It would be nice if you could also include these >Bubble elevator instead of ladders >Lava casting instead of hand building the spawn chamber (tutorial) >Adding water in a diagonal built with dirt (you're not getting pushed around by water then, and placing source blocks on the floor sometimes its hard to tell which one is the source water) I subscribed and liked the vid ! The visuals showing the length breadth height of platforms youre building were really helpful, and so was adding water in a diagonal. Great tutorial loved that it was 5 mins long as well. !!! I left mc running over night and go 0 tridents. How important is it to have the water be source blocks? Also it would be a good addition to show how to see biome barriers. I know you can you look it up, but just a tip.
Making all of those blocks source blocks would take a million years. I have to assume you only need the top blocks as source blocks. The water wouldn’t be flowing with just top level source blocks that reach all the blocks in the chamber. I question if you even need walls. You may just need the top ring to hold the source blocks of water but no walls except at the bottom to contain the water there. Water would be flowing then though.
i killed 22 drowneds with looting 3 and gotten 0 trident then after i built this THE FIRST MOB I KILLED DROPPED A TRIDENT Thank you so much man this helped alot
There's an 11% chance the drowned will fall directly into the 2x2 tube and not go trough the second stream of water. Then they will die from the fall and not drop any loot. I fixed this by adding 4 signs and 4 water sources on the upper part of the 2x2 tube. Now all of them have to fall trough it and they can't die. They take less fall damage but are still one hit kill with a sword. btw use lava and water to build the big chamber. Edit: I made the extra water flowing down for one block before stopping it with the signs so its pushing them down. Just like in the video.
very nice farm. Only took me 2-3 hours to gather the stuff and build it. Only risk while farmin: Sometimes a mini drowned will pick up a trident and throws it right at you. So maybe expand your plattform a bit to avoid gettin knocked down and make sure you have enough food and hp.
Note: The zombie spawn more during day (other mob can spawn on the ground during night) If you are playing multiple make sure nobody is around (if they are standing next to you then there is no problem)

just built this. already got two tridents. i already have a bunch from natural killing, but my brothers been asking for one and i don't want to give him any, so i built us a community farm.
A Drowned with a trident can only drop said trident when killed by a player; fall damage does not suffice. If you’re noticing that your Drowned are dying on impact, make some signs in the central shaft and put some water blocks above em. They’ll save the drowned so that you can smack em yourself.
pro tip: if you build a string farm it takes only like 1 min to make you can make wools out of strings and it even produces 64+ strings per second and that block part where you need 93 stacks you can use that strings to make wools I used this technique to build my farm anyways good luck if you are building this
I didn't watch any trident farm tutorial and built myself from y=119. And it spawned less than 7 drowned and nothing more. Currently tried to cover the forest and the bottom river with torches. Hope it'll work. Such a pain building all over again.
0:26 I don't understand why 137 blocks from the river surface (y =63) are needed instead of 128. All I can imagine is that the y coordinate of the waiting area is exactly 200 that is nice round number. There should be an explanation. I couldn't find any youtube videos that explain it.
Another tip: put trapdoors under the two blocks you’re standing under. This farm has a chance to kill you since baby drowned with tridents may be able to see you if they’re in the back of the farm. The trapdoors should negate this, and that way you can safely afk for spawns.
So im testing the farm in 1.21, a way i thought to make this farm AFK was to instead of building the 22 tower up, just do that the fall has water that re directs drowned to the nether, so you can afk as long as you want and all drowns will be waiting for you, add turtle egg and trapdoor to make drowns fall to the trap in the nether

Protip: if you use water and lava to make a lavacast, you can build the walls of the farm much quicker!

I’m on a realm and I’ve built one in an ocean and one in a river biome and neither work I get no drowned at all

My protip: If you press ESC while in a sign, it closes the interface, making placing all of the signs much easier!

Ps: I used tweakeroo mod to turn off sign ui's, so I recommend using that

This is not even good source of XP. I have seen much more efficient farms than this one. And also it's not good XP source.

@@ankontini i ended up raising the platform where they land by 1 block and they dont die anymore some have 1/2 heart some have 1 heart but i have a good sword so they are still 1 hit kill: PS i love minecraft nice to see someone enjoying the game aswell
@@matthew1360 :) did you raise it to 20 blocks? I replaced now the slabs with beds because I was too greedy and didnt want even that rare drowned with little health to die :))).

Quick tip: for faster placing, enable both toggle spring and toggle sneak, then open f3 and find the "Facing:" and move your mouse up and down until the second number to somewhere between 74 and 78. Hope this makes it easier; it certainly did for me.
It does work, its just not really efficient. It is a very simple design and doens't take long to build (depending in what stage you are in your world). I think its ok, as most people only need one or two tridents, and for that its a good design. You also need to look out that all of the chamber is really in the river biome, if its in the plains biome no mobs will spawn in that part of the chamber.
Hunted for a legit trident for hours and I gave up and finally built this. The first drowned with a trident dropped it from this spawner. I didn’t even have looting 3 yet just wanted to make sure it worked and got really lucky.

Worked like a charm! It took me a minute to sort out how to get back up and down to bring enough materials to complete the top chamber. I wound up using a combo of waterfall on the outside and then temp dirt blocks to build a scaffolding on so that I could reach Y=294 and top it all off. Now to get the Loyalty + Mending enchantments and I'll be all set!

Yep it’s killing chamber to high but I guess that’s good if you don’t want to have to macro so it is automatic
For some reason this isn’t working at all. I got two drown when I first stepped on the killing platform but it’s been hours and I haven’t seen another one. Any advise
sorry i'm late. make sure that the farm doesn't let light in and that the drowneds can actually spawn or you're in the right biome
It works really good. But the drowned died on impact when in the killing chamber. So I just moved it a little higher and it worked perfectly

Hey - just built this. It took me honestly about 4 hours straight to build, the spawn chamber is really big. Someone had suggested using lava cast and I tried this but Im just a noob, skill issue honestly It was just going all over the place so I handplaced all the blocks. The farm is working well. Within the first 3 minutes I collected 3 nautical shells. (?) But now I will AFK for an hour. Will update here on how many tridents I get.

I left mc running over night and go 0 tridents. How important is it to have the water be source blocks?
Also it would be a good addition to show how to see biome barriers. I know you can you look it up, but just a tip.

@@mattwalsh6544 Aren't most of the water blocks technically "flowing water" if you break all the dirt blocks at the top?
Making all of those blocks source blocks would take a million years. I have to assume you only need the top blocks as source blocks. The water wouldn’t be flowing with just top level source blocks that reach all the blocks in the chamber. I question if you even need walls. You may just need the top ring to hold the source blocks of water but no walls except at the bottom to contain the water there. Water would be flowing then though.

I've built this in bedrock and doesn't work, no spawns at all
i killed 22 drowneds with looting 3 and gotten 0 trident then after i built this THE FIRST MOB I KILLED DROPPED A TRIDENT

So i just built this just to realize that my entire river is a forrest biome? Tf

There's an 11% chance the drowned will fall directly into the 2x2 tube and not go trough the second stream of water. Then they will die from the fall and not drop any loot. I fixed this by adding 4 signs and 4 water sources on the upper part of the 2x2 tube. Now all of them have to fall trough it and they can't die. They take less fall damage but are still one hit kill with a sword. btw use lava and water to build the big chamber.
Edit: I made the extra water flowing down for one block before stopping it with the signs so its pushing them down. Just like in the video.

very nice farm. Only took me 2-3 hours to gather the stuff and build it. Only risk while farmin: Sometimes a mini drowned will pick up a trident and throws it right at you. So maybe expand your plattform a bit to avoid gettin knocked down and make sure you have enough food and hp.
Add two trap doors above your head to narrow the opening.

Note: The zombie spawn more during day (other mob can spawn on the ground during night)
If you are playing multiple make sure nobody is around (if they are standing next to you then there is no problem)

just built this. already got two tridents. i already have a bunch from natural killing, but my brothers been asking for one and i don't want to give him any, so i built us a community farm.
A Drowned with a trident can only drop said trident when killed by a player; fall damage does not suffice. If you’re noticing that your Drowned are dying on impact, make some signs in the central shaft and put some water blocks above em. They’ll save the drowned so that you can smack em yourself.

pro tip: if you build a string farm it takes only like 1 min to make you can make wools out of strings and it even produces 64+ strings per second and that block part where you need 93 stacks you can use that strings to make wools

I didn't watch any trident farm tutorial and built myself from y=119. And it spawned less than 7 drowned and nothing more. Currently tried to cover the forest and the bottom river with torches. Hope it'll work. Such a pain building all over again.

It works, but tip, make sure that the surrounding chunks are also a river biome, not just one chunk
a trick for others: dont bother with the ladders and blocks. just use scaffolding to build up
0:26 I don't understand why 137 blocks from the river surface (y =63) are needed instead of 128. All I can imagine is that the y coordinate of the waiting area is exactly 200 that is nice round number. There should be an explanation. I couldn't find any youtube videos that explain it.
63+137 = 200 ........ why would you do 128
Another tip: put trapdoors under the two blocks you’re standing under. This farm has a chance to kill you since baby drowned with tridents may be able to see you if they’re in the back of the farm. The trapdoors should negate this, and that way you can safely afk for spawns.

Its 25 to midnight.... just built this as no trident ... 10 minutes adter being built i get a trident!!! Love it
So im testing the farm in 1.21, a way i thought to make this farm AFK was to instead of building the 22 tower up, just do that the fall has water that re directs drowned to the nether, so you can afk as long as you want and all drowns will be waiting for you, add turtle egg and trapdoor to make drowns fall to the trap in the nether
