Interesting film. Was out and about using a South Pennines Day Rover ticket yesterday. Worth buying for a day on the trains. On our planned route we changed at Mirfield and obviously noticed the work. Hopefully Mirfield will be a lot more user friendly when it's completed

Went there in the 90 s. It would be nice with a building or two. . Does have a bleak feeling about it. 😅

Great update packed with content and information. Love the combination of real footage and TRU visualisations. When I tried to cycle to Dewsbury on the Greenway I noticed a lot going on east of Mirfield. Diversions in place for cyclistists - I spotted a large civil engineering hub over that way too. Can't wait to see more progress via your channel. Thank you 👍

Sorry to see the old house go. It looked a rather fine building. Could it not have been moved stone by stone? But great so see the works. Thank you.

Yeah, I must admit I found that quite sad. It was quite an imposing building standing proud beside the main line.

Sad to see the beautiful old footbridge go at Heaton Lodge. There is where I used to stand and watch the Newcastle trains thunder underneath me as they went up the Leeds new line.

I am sad to see the lovely old bridges go too. But am just thankful that at last a much needed upgrade is happening. Here in Sussex no new stations or any upgrade anywhere near what is needed have happened in the last 50 years.

Was that the new line from Huddersfield that is now a cycleway? That was impressively straight. 😁

This bridge could easily be retained with Catenary Protection Extensions added to each side over the wires.........something done on the Continent in many places.
But no, we get an ugly 'new' slab-sided' construction......which seems to be the standard for bridges over catenary these days....designed to prevent people looking over at the trains below.
Ugly in the extreme doesn't even come close to describing this.

Living in the area it’s great to be able to piece together what’s going on on the ground to how it will look in the video 👍

    Impressive footage sarah
I live near here and it’s my local spotting place …. Or was ..

Hopefully there will still be some decent spotting locations when they've finished, but they tend to surround everything with huge fences these days.

Was great to see the diesel powered train pulling all the green eco fuel for Drax power station to generate all the green power 🤔🤣

    WHO IS THIS...?
Who is this walking about aimlessly from about 7:19 onwards....?
Is it the same individual seen earlier at 5:02...?
    Is 'Full Possession' in place...?
    Just wondering....

DEIGHTON STATION - A SLOPING CONCRETE WALL...?
A new large sloping concrete wall at Deighton Station below the houses......?
    Really....?
An obvious target for the Grafitti Lunatics when completed.....and sloping to make it easier for them.
This has not been thought through and is obviously very poor planning.
Just why on earth the limited greenery covering the existing wall below the houses is not being retained beggars belief.
Since the existing track formation being retained is not being moved, one can only assume that the general clearance of vegetation, (something long overdue on many parts of the railways generally), is being used to sweep this away also.
More to the point, one has to question why a new bridge abutment is being constructed just below the houses to accomodate the concrete sloping wall......and vice-versa....?
Money being spent for the sake of it perhaps when the present abutment is more than adequate....?
One would have thought that in spending the vast amounts of money that they are on this route, any number of people in the planning and costing stages alone would have spotted this flaw...?
It would seem that everyone is too intent on crowing about the new route upgrade, (faster trains, ££££ spent etc), than to be bothered about important details like this.....?
    Madness beyond belief....
