Hello!, ive been trying to use this but evrytime I put the strength to 40% it gets distorted terribly. How do I resolve this issue? I followed every step before that.
Hey there! There could be 2 reasons/fixes for the distortion. 1) A different font style which is causing it to appear distorted so you could try a similar font style from the video. 2) Before doing the 3D steps convert your text layer into a smart object. In the photoshop version we use we could access 3D features better, without converting it into a smart object. But this step is highly recommended otherwise. To do this, just right click on your text layer and click on Convert to smart object. Hope this resolves the issue
Hey there, can we know which version of photoshop are you using. As per our knowledge, the 3D tool was discontinued after photoshop version 25.2.0 and Deactivate Native Canvas was removed in this latest update (Photoshop 2024 25.9) so if your version is 25.2.0 or above you will have to down-grade it to Photoshop 2024 25.0.0 version. If you have Photoshop 2024 25.0.0 or below make sure you have deactivated Native Canvas if not so you can do it by going in Preferences > Technology Previews, and check the item Deactivate Native Canvas, then restart Photoshop. This should solve your 3d checkered material issue. As to load the checker material it is possible by downloading and then drag and drop the checker HDRI in the 3d material panel, but in your case as you mentioned you don't have the option, which we think is because your photoshop version is latest or above 25.2.0. We hope this helps.
Sorry i am a LITERAL Photoshop newbie. Is it really important to create a rectangle as a background at the beginning? If so, how do i do that? Sorry if its a silly question
Hey there, firstly it's not a silly question whatsoever. As for the black rectangle it was made to act as a background since our font color is white by default. So if we don't add a black background the font wouldn't be visible. Plus we wanted to add a gradient background to our artwork as shown by the end of the video, but if you wish to not have a background, you can skip the step. There are 2 options here, 1] You can create a rectangle to act as a black background as shown by clicking on the rectangle tool on the left toolbar (shortcut is U) > left click on your canvas and a pop up window will appear to create rectangle > you can keep width and height same as the canvas size you keep in the very beginning > on the top toolbar you will see fill and stroke click on fill and select black color and click on stroke and click on the first option 'no fill'. 2] If you don't want to add a background you can change the color of the font from the properties panel on your right side after you type your word. I hope this helps

You could use the creative cloud desktop app and install the previous version of Photoshop. While recording this video we were using Photoshop 2024 25.0.0 version, I hope this helps.

@@theofficial_saga Hello I used the from description font and converted to smart object but my text is also severely distorted if I move the intensity at all
Other than the reasons mentioned above, the only issue that we could think of for this to happen is your canvas size and resolution. In the video we used a canvas of 1920 by 1080 pixels with a resolution of 300. A canvas with lower resolution can cause any of your artwork to appear distorted due to low pixel rate.
Hey there, looks like your photoshop is older than the 25.2.0 version try updating it to 25.2.0 or above and you will find the option in your preferences > technology previews > deactivate native canvas. Native canvas means what you see on screen is rendered using OS-native APIs, i.e. Metal on Mac, DirectX on Windows. Disabling it means reverting to the old OpenGL APIs. The 3D feature which we are using in this video is more optimized for OpenGL and will have no bugs or crashes while doing the 3d part. Hope this helps.

I'm encountering an issue at 2:42. When I click on the environment icon to edit the texture, I'm seeing a black screen instead of the expected checked background. I wasn't able to deactivate native canvas because of the new photoshop update plus I'm a newbie. Any help will be much appreciated!
Hey there, we need to check a few things first to come to a conclusion. Firstly, is your graphic driver up-to-date and can you check if these settings are checked, by going in photoshop preference panel for which the shortcut is CTRL + K (PC) or CMD + K (Mac) > go in performance tab and make sure the Use Graphics Processor button is checked then click on advanced settings and check if Use graphic processor to accelerate computation, use OpenGL and Anti-alias guides and path are checked > restart photoshop. If the issue still persists and like you mentioned you can't deactivate native canvas due to the latest photoshop update you will have to downgrade your version to Adobe Photoshop 2024 ver 25.0.0 I hope his helps.
Hey there! First and foremost, which version of photoshop are you using currently, if it’s older than the 22.1.0 version (December 2020) it shows black ‘cause there is a background, so to fix it select your 3D layer and go in properties panel > Scene > at the bottom you will see Backfaces option under remove hidden, check it and it should be fixed. If you are using newer versions than 22.1.0 (December 2020) just check if your graphic driver is up-to-date and whether you de-activated the native canvas from the preferences settings, if not, this could be the reason due to which the texture preview is coming in black.

Hey there, will assist you with this issue. First of all, I hope your graphic card is up to date with the latest drivers. As far as we know OpenCL has been de-activated after the latest Photoshop update by default. So due to that, you can't access the 3d tool. To fix it, open up Photoshop and press CTRL + K to open the Preferences panel and click on the Performance tab and make sure the Use Graphics Processor button is checked. Then click on Advanced settings just below it and make sure use OpenCL, Anti-alias Guides and Paths and GPU compositing is also checked. Restart Photoshop and the 3D tool should now work.
