4:26 First of all, thank you so much for this video. I have a question. at 4:26 you said "Let's softness the shadow a little bit" but the "softness" you just adjusted is not under "Shadow" but under "color" and this "softness" under shadow doesn't do anything for the shadow's softness. Also the Shadow section doesn't have softness adjustment. Can you please check? Thank you1
Thanks for the great video. Best I've seen on this feature. Do you have any idea what specs are needed for doing this with ease. I have two designers who both are experiencing long rendering times, one up to 15 minutes. Thanks so much. I'm considering getting one of them a new computer to do this, but want to be 100% sure we get something that will work.
Good question! We have iMac Pros that are pretty decked out in terms of ram, and we're not seeing too many lag issues. But it's probably likely you will see some slow rendering if you have an average processor speed. I would recommend working in "Real Time Preview" to make things go faster... and when you want to see things fully rendered switch to "Ray Tracing" sparingly.
I changed the text to yellow! I’ll also changed the light source near the bottom to red so that it picked up a little of the reflection of the background.
Hi Dan, as an Illustrator user I have been a fan of DKNG for a long time. I was just wondering. What kind of mouse are you using im this video. It caught my eye :)
@@DKNGstudio Ah, now I see it. And that's an arm rest you're using too. I have been thinking about trying a trackpad. You would recommend it for use in Illustrator? And I'm curious about your new Skillshare course and will check it out soon. Your artworks always amaze me. Thanx for replying!
@@Githma If you are use to using a trackpad on a laptop, then it's a great tool. However, I would recommend using whatever is most comfortable for you.
I hear ya. We often stay in "real time preview" mode as long as possible. Once you Ray Trace, it will move/update much slower (but also gets super realistic)
I been playing with this feature for a bit but this is hands down the best tutorial I've ran into. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
I never would have thought to do this in Illustrator! I would have immediately hopped in C4D, unnecessarily! Cool walk through, Dan! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
THIS IS AWESOME!!! THANKS!! It's almost like having Cinema 3D text in illiustrator.
Thanks! Ya the new 3D tools in Illustrator are awesome.
This blew my mind. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Does this work on the iPad as well? I have it on my iPad but don’t see these options🤔

@@DKNGstudiohere all users are on Intel core2duo ..
Can we render this ???
Love it! What are your CPU specs?
We work off of an iMac Pro that's fully loaded, so luckily the 3D effects fair well with our processor (2.3 Ghz 18-Core Intel Xeon).
Which laptop do you have for this speed?
We use an iMac Pro actually!
Hey bro this is awesomd. What font is this btw
Thanks! Font is Gigalypse
@@DKNGstudio Thank you. Your awesome 👌 👏

Hello
please tell me how to save these effects in eps.10 vector file!?
Hi my on macbook pro m3 pro. When i try to ray tracing it takes too much time to render. How to fasten the rendering speed
Ray tracing is computationally intensive, so it can take a while! Make sure your Illustrator version is updated and try using a dedicated GPU.
Thank you so much
Hi! How do you save it as png/jpg without compromising the quality?
We typically use png-24 setting by using "Save for Web"
I dont see the light source option only the presets for lighting
You should see some dots floating over a sphere, those dots are the light sources that you can alter and move.
hello any site to download free 3d mockups like this
Not off the top of my head, but we're more showing how it can be created from scratch.
how did you get the gold thats in the thumbnail?
I changed the text to yellow! I’ll also changed the light source near the bottom to red so that it picked up a little of the reflection of the background.
Can I use variable from an excel sheet with this
Microsoft Word / Adobe Illustrator collab!?

I have illustrator 2021 and it has extrude and bevel instead of extrude and material. Thus I can't inflate my logo
The inflate tool is part of the newer 3D tools provided in Illustrator CC, so you'd have to upgrade to a newer Illustrator to make this work.

Thx! It’s actually not a mouse at all, it’s an Apple Magic Trackpad.
