Driverless cars existed as concepts in the 80s, but the computational power wasn't great so they drove too slow to be useful. We had actually viable driverless cars in the 2000s that worked fine, but needed more data to be deployed into the wild and not in controlled environments. In the 2010s, Waymo and Uber paved the way when LIDAR tech paired with high-end computers form Nvidia to start creating models and the opeing the flood gates to driverless tech. Now there is years of petabytes worth of machine learning data for modern AI systems to utilize making self-driving cars safer than any human is capable of driving.
Great video! I’m performing an academic research on fully automatic self driving cars and would be delighted to learn more about your experience with Waymo. Please let me know if you'd be open to speak more about it.
40 years ago, this idea was just in some engineer's mind. Now it's reality.
Google self-driving cars were made in 2010

I’ve seen these in Chandler. I’ve also seen the new ones they’re testing in Phoenix. The new ones are built upon a Jaguar SUV. They work very well!
So what happens if the Waymo gets into a road rage incident🤣? It sends out Bender from Futurama to kick some butt?
Maybe they have a trunk monkey? 🤣

Road ragers don't have anyone to rage at, so it's a mute point, lol
@ 4:38 was a little hairy with that car coming from your left but safe drive after all.
Your parents are adorable ❤❤❤
Aren't they just? ❤

my mom has the Chrysler Pacifica as well either the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica or the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica
So the police can never pull that over because they don't have a driver
There's a pull over button, so if ever in the case police need to pull it over, passengers can hit the pull over button.
That is incorrect. The police cannot fine the car or the company and still has never happened either.
This is so cool

wooh outstanding self dive👍
Is there a cost for this ride
They operate much like Uber and Lyft do, just without a driver, of course.
Nice ride
Wow
Nice, this is in phoenix?
Yep!
The future is here guys and girl s
Thanks
Ghost drive 😢😢😂😂😂
How much per ride?
It was about a 5 or 6 mile trip, and cost $11
Basically I give this idea
