After that last snippy comment from the supervisor dude I would have said. "Ok great. I'll step out and walk off the property. This is not my car. You can work with the Waymo company on it and/or pay to tow it out of your lot."
He totally could have done that.
This is amazing. I’m not the first to say this but it’s hysterical that they call the driver an “autonomous specialist”. 😂 He’s a driver. Autonomous mode has been canceled.
This is fascinating. Thanks for covering driverless cars, Kevin.
Does that idiot supervisor not understand that you weren't driving the car? LOL
He’s noticing something unusual is happening on private property. The car shouldn’t have been there so, the passenger is responsible to solve the problem idiot.
Looks like it...
Best known ops screenshot so far, great work 👍
Well, JJRicks your not the only one nowm
Everyone is talking about how rude the USPS employee was but not a single comment was about how this dude had a padlock and some metal clip for earrings....... 1:17
Wow, so roadside assistance needs not just one person, but multiple people per assistance car. Waymo must be incinerating cash.
What if instead of a regular car with a spare driver he arrived in another Waymo to be stuck in that loop as well
@@drivingforcebehindu could you imagine how more pissed off the USPS guy would have been if that happened? 😂😂
No kidding.
Yeah. I mean the driverless EV robotaxi concept seems inherently sustainable, on paper, because people only need to maintain the cars at their lot.
But that whole idea collapses the second you need an entire team of humans employed to drive the goddamned cars around anyway. I imagine this is why Tesla is holding back on the rollout of their robotaxi service. They'll probably put it in the terms of service that by enabling Robotaxi and allowing your car to generate income, you're also required to have a phone number for them to text when a nearby Tesla gets stuck. lol
I wonder if these cars can identify a single rail barrier similar to those used in car parks or would it drive into the barrier?
Incredible how polite and calm he stays. I could never...!
It's Waymo exciting when you get stuck in a loop! 😁
The usps supervisor needs a little patience. I would just told him I’ll leave and it can be your problem. Or you can be a little more nice and I will help u out
The USPS guy was fine, concerned about safety. This tech is new to everybody.
That was so cool! The ops phone is fascinating too, I wonder what the rest of the app looks like
01:34 similar situation, Costco manager called the cops on me
What was the outcome?
People in America be calling the cops on everybody for no reason lmao.
@@justinolsen488 got the heck outta there lol
@@JJRicks Lol
wow this is so cool, thanks for sharing this
My god I cant believe how buggy this still is with all the sensors, pre-mapping, gps and computers in the trunk. still can't handle unknown situations for shyt. 😂🤦♂️
Weird how unmapped areas don't show up.
It's still pretty new
@@bobbyjeff32 they’ve been doing this for over a decade though.
@@rickkay9548 that's honestly not that long

"Okay got it, thank you." I swear this guy is some form of AI himself, lmao. For someone so interested in Waymo, I would expect him to ask a ton of questions to the "specialist" like how often does this kind of thing happen etc. But nothing, he doesn't exchange a word with the driver. Gotta be hardcore introverted, probably why he likes these taxis with no human interaction to begin with.
Eh they’re not supposed to talk to passengers. So it’s either ask questions or make the video. Not gonna post a video of the driver violating their company policy.
Interesting! The Waymo rescue driver arrived quickly. Question: There was an open gate, so why was Waymo unable to use it?
With so many people tried to limit and block AI development, becuase they are terrified of it, I don't surprise that this is the result.
Maybe because the entrance is a one way
"What's taking roadside assistance so long?"
They probably have to constantly rescue rides and are trying to just catch at least a 2-minute break
What they need is a way to unlock controls for the passenger to take over, to get it out of a stupidly simple jam, without needing roadside assistance.
Wow that USPS supervisor would of started to bother me with that attitude
Typical Post Office workers I’m not surprised lol
@@KittyBoom360 if the definition of ignorant had more examples you would be in it.
@@KittyBoom360 it's not rude it's fact. You completely dismissed what situation the rider is in. A self driving car that cannot exit the area and the USPS supervisor knows he is calling support but continues being a pain in the butt.
@@KittyBoom360 you're telling me the USPS supervisor doesn't realize the guy is calling support to have the issue fixed??? C'mon man.
@@KittyBoom360 you're assuming the guy doesn't know how the self driving car works. I'm pretty sure he's seen them before without people driving them very daily especially in that area.
34:58 wait, LA metro uses the same announcement sound effect as Valley Metro light rail in Phoenix. Or is it vice versa
😂
very interesting
hahahaha oh man, belly laughs! Thanks for the laughs Kevin!
EIGHT MINUTES?? holy cow dude cant wait to see this one
Um the employee sure is annoying lol. Why get mad at a taxi customer 🤷
That was him projecting. He just wanted the vehicle off of the property. But, yeah, I would have told him I'm just a passenger, I have no control.
Facts like I need to get off the property yes let me tell the invisible driver lmao. Man acts like Kevin is driving lmao he's literally just a passenger 💀
Why did Kevin call for Waymo from a private, gated parking lot? Why didn’t Kevin ask support to stop the vehicle right away instead of letting it drive out of control around a lot with a lot of employees walking around doing work? Why didn’t Kevin force some sort of emergency shutdown of the car by attempting to open the door or something? The supervisor is just doing his job to look after his staff while some out of control car is roaming around the work area. If the car is glitched, how is he supposed to know it won’t glitch out and hit a USPS employee as they step out of their mail truck? Everyone, not just the supervisor, was being rude here.
Why did your ride start inside the USPS parking lot? I am curious what happened before this video starts
Okay, I saw your previous video. So now I am curious if Waymo let you put a drop off point inside the USPS property, so did the car go in on it's own to find a drop off place?
Waymo let me pick the spot. I found it by scrolling around the map. Was looking for a nice big parking lot where Waymo could park without getting in the way.
Hahah it was taking a shortcut 😂
To everyone dissing on the parking lot employee, he probably thought the guy in the backseat should jump in the front seat and take over. In this sense, he was actually being very polite about it. You can't really fault him for not being aware of the latest tech and how exactly it all works.
Ahh wait looks the customer support are all back in Phillipines 😂
Why were you picked up there? Was the the employee side or the customer parking lot area?
So what happens when the area is covered in snow or fog?
It can ride in fog idk about snow tho
Lost in lost Angeles 🤪
Lol, Google thinks it has to translate "lost Angeles".
And then people say that this thing is comparable to a Tesla FSD
So annoying when postal workers start rambling about Federal property. Ive been instructed to drive to the back for package drop offs and had a postal worker go out of their way to talk about Federal property and how I need to leave way so often.. Call the FBI. Let them know Im here w packages to drop off and I wont get off Federal property. -.-
Not a good sign. Partially blocking the entrance is a safety hazard.
why blur him out?
I’m coming
😅😂😅 just get out and never get in this shit anymore.
What city is this?
LA
@@letter1014 so navigating by lost Angels so you cannot be lost ;)
He should have let it keep going until it ran out of gas or the cops were called
Wait, are you locked in the vehicle? oh no way.
And the waymo garbage for keep driving loop need fixing
😅😂😂😂
so wayno car actually can be drived, i thought they was lock command
I think the Waymo ops app lets them put the car in manual mode
@@KevinChen5 ok
Weak engineers will write weak algorithms. Just like Google itself.
That USPS employee thinks the USPS parking lot is private property? There were no signs saying it was a restricted access no entry its still public property and have every right to be there even when you're in a waymo car.
With so many people tried to limit and block AI development, becuase they are terrified of it, I don't surprise that this is the result.
Are people in America always rude lol the ups worker was kinda rude lol for no reason. Like sure I need to get out of here let me tell the invisible driver to stop glitching 😒. I know the car was blocking his work but damn
Yes...this one person is a representative of everyone in a country of 350 million people. Must be nice not having rude people where you're from.
@@deloreanman14there are literally thousands of videos of people being Karen's in America lol. Yelling being rude Karen's can't really exist in my country because you'd get beaten by the cops lol. So most people in America wouldn't survive here they'd have to leave that Karen attitude in America 💀
@pennytrui1149 Do you think times when people are speaking politely get uploaded at the same percentage?
The UPS worker was not even rude. What are you going on about? You sound like a Karen here yourself.
He doesn't understand how the latest tech works and is doing his job to make sure everyone is safe. There was nothing wrong with his behavior here.
Grow up a little bit. Stop contradicting yourself. Avoid hypocritical statements. Pretend you're not just a 12-year-old on the internet.
@@KittyBoom360 I'm not the only one that said it in the comment section so idc what you say calling me a Karen lmao. He was obviously triggered and the car wasn't doing anything dangerous. Also maybe if he looked he would see no one is driving the car the passenger can't do anything. I just would have stepped out the waymo and let him deal with the car. let's see maybe if I step out the glitch will get fixed right lol . Him "you need to get out now" yes let me talk to Casper real quick Casper stop playing before the cops come and put handcuffs on the invisible driver 💀
All this...just to avoid building proper train infrastructure and viable alternatives to driving. SMH!
EPIC FAIL
WTH why did the people who came sit in their car for so long?!?
Its time to purchase Tesla 12.2 😿
and get disengaged every 2 mins
@slick3996 If this is happening you need to put in a service ticket. You should almost never be getting disengagements. I get one maybe once every few months.
Having a driver in the car is better until the car becomes self-driving. This is totally idiotic. Not very customer friendly to trick people into thinking the car is self-driving. And the animation on the screen just proves how bad the software is.
Waymo claims it's self-driving, but let's be real, it's basically just a glorified car on tracks. Throw it a curveball, and it's like, 'What do I do?
It drove into a parking lot, and they closed the exit. Kind of a strange edge case.
You should get paid for debugging.
He kind of did, he got a $10 voucher and a free ride around the parking lot 5 times and then finally to his destination by a human 😂
🤦♂ Why take old video you take new video 2024
