When looking at these pieces of art it’s not just about if the gun goes bang. It means so much more than that. If you don’t understand that then you never will and that’s ok. But for others (like myself) it’s more than that and well worth every cent.

We are indeed fortunate to have so many choices in the 1911 platform. Good to exceptional products out there so do your homework and try different features and manufacturers. As a Dan Wesson owner I see the CZ purchase as having great potential to get Colt back to making classic firearms. Myself I've been concentrating on commander sized 9mm's for carry and 5-6" 10mm's for rural application's.

Kimbers are NOT custom guns. They are mid-tier production-line guns.
I have Wilson Combat 1911s & STI 2011s & 1911s & neither brand experienced malfunctions in what would be considered the "break-in" period (first 1000 rounds).
Come to think of it, my Sig Scorpion 1911 only had feeding issues during the first 500 rounds because of the crappy Sig magazines. Once I switched to Wilson Combat & McCormick TRP mags, the problems went away.

I bought my first Kimber a year ago (a Micro 9 raptor) for everyday carry and I love it. Bought my wife a Micro 380 bel air and now she carries every day. I've read ALOT of bad things about kimber after I bought the gun, but 3000 rounds later, I've never had a single jam, a single feed issue. Not once, not one bullet. I've used every bullet type under the sun, out of desperation because ammo is hard to get right now.
Do I clean my gun meticulously every time I'm done shooting it? Yes.
A year later i'm convinced that people hate Kimbers because they are more expensive only for their looks (or they hate the required upkeep). It makes me want to buy them even more.
So i'm looking at getting my dad this Rapide for Christmas. I'd pay 3k for it.
Edit: Ended up getting my Dad the Rapide NIB for $1400!

Wow! very nice and best quality of 1911 Pistols. To me, any brand of 1911 pistol as long as it comes from an authorized gun manufacturer, its shooting result is really good. To my humble shooting experience, proper grip of the gun, pull trigger control and proper sight alignment is the secret of having a perfect hit of the target. After knowing them well, you can shoot and hit a toothpick by just holding your gun with your two fingers only. But it's more better if we can have the Top 8 Best 1911 Pistols.

    This is from 2018…
Simply amazing the diversity and variations in 1911s and 1911 derivatives. I think most of that stuff is hideous looking, ruining the simple lines of the 1911, but to each their own. No doubt, some of those race guns help champion competitors. Others are bought to never be shot, and are more like a sculpture. More power to all of them; they keep the factories open. I just want simple, clean lines on a reliable gun with usable sights.
I think this just proves, 50 years from now, if guns are still legal, there will still be companies making 1911s, and the vast majority of shooters will not know what a Baretta 92FS is, or have ever seen one in person.

I had a Para Ordnance P-12 about 25 yrs ago, it put me off automatics, for a long time, worst piece of crap ever. It jammed no matter what ammo I used even after having a couple of reputable gunsmith work on it, a huge disappointment.

Nothing wrong with properly made and fit mim parts. Forged and cast parts can have issues as well. It's all about quality control. I only trust mim parts made in house. When the company shops around to outsource the labor you end up with parts made as cheap as possible to undercut the other offerings. I wouldn't trust guns made in New York period. Too hard to get a gun there, they just ain't gun people.
