Id like to add Dominic Puni to that rookie impact. The guards positions have been pretty bad for the 49ers recently and with injuries making that situation even worse right now, Puni could probably start at RG week 1. He looked pretty damn good in the first preseason game and will only get better with time.
Every team is a bad injury away from a crappy season. Do you think KC will win if Pat breaks his leg in week 3? Its up to chance and luck for every team. How often does a muffed punt bounce off a guys leg and a player literally hurts his Achilles from the sideline.

To me, Kyle Shanahan with the Niners is like Andy Reid with the Eagles. Does great during the regular season, multiple division titles, but never wins the big game.

It is real the last time they lost the Superbowl they got so injured they didn't make the playoffs. Then they lost to a team they beat both times in the regular season in the rams. Then they literally got murdered by the eagles. Only just now did they make it back and they lost again. Not saying they can't get back but don't be surprised if it gets ugly

That Ricky Pearsall Selection was so questionable like Chris Jones was fucking them up all game and if Purdy had time to make one more play it could've made up for that special teams are disaster class they put on that and Pearsall was a massive reach anyways especially when Jackson Powers Johnson was still right there on the board for the taking.
If there is one thing that should motivate the 49ers, beyond this recent legacy of falling just short, it's to get back to the end to deny a 3-peat. They barely missed out in the 1990 season then played spoiler on the Cowboys in the 1994 season. If the Chiefs managed to be the first to pull it off, it would be a wound that likely never heals.

Staley is almost exclusively a DBs coach for us right now. His title is a bit misleading, but his role has been pretty impactful so far. Dmo Lenoir has leveled up this off-season and he's attributed a good bit of that to Staley

49ers offense the past few years has been like a Ferrari. Run well when all the pieces are there....and they struggle more than you would think when one of McCaffrey, Samuel, or Aiuyck is out
That’s Purdy’s fatal flaw so far, and why I can’t call him elite. He’s pretty awesome when everything is ideal, but struggles mightily when 1 member of his super team is gone, or if he’s put into a situation where he has to will a team to victory. He’s still young, so maybe he improves over time. But there’s a plethora of other QBs who you’d trust to mount a game winning drive with the game on the line
Mike MacDonald and Gannon smell blood in the water in this division. SF and LA are having some of their very best players age. I really wouldn't be surprised if Seattle and Arizona are fighting for the division lead this year.

Last chance? My god only one team can with the SB every year. The Bills lost 4 straight and history remembers them as great teams. When you talk about the Bills now you realize just how hard going to 4 straight super bowls is and NO ONE considers them as losers. SF has tremendous young pieces everywhere, they went to NFC championship and Super Bowl in the last 2 seasons with a QB who was 3rd string then off a surgery, stop panicking you’re fine. Reality is reality, SF is absolutely a top 3 team in the league but they are coming off the tail end of the best player ever Tom Brady era and hip deep in the era of who might end up being the goat Mahomes. Nothing is owed to the Niners, enjoy watching this great talented team. Don’t rush guys off or blow stuff up because you don’t win SB especially if they are close again. Nothing wrong with adding but work to keep it together, giving up is easy.
History remembers the Bills as a dynasty of choking. And it's not about "rushing guys off or blowing stuff up," it's about ages of players as well as huge contracts. The salary cap prevents teams from keeping all of the best talent long term. Continually picking low in the draft decreases the chances of being able to replace the lost talent.

Losing twice with Mahomes is guaranteed to end their chances. They already have internal pressure with Aiyuk and the contract situations with Williams, but that alone isn’t it with Shanahan just always taking certain risks. The window for a Lombardi Trophy has passed for them and I also believe they’ll miss the NFC to the Lions this time

The Trent Richardson example is why I, as an Eagles fan, really appreciate Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie. If the Eagles were in this situation, Trent would've already been locked up or everyone would know that he's getting traded (to a team he wants to go to, ideally). Yeah it's still a business and you can't keep everyone, but Howie has generally speaking been very "intentional" with the roster. Guys get locked up early and rarely are there contract disputes that don't have a clear and obvious end from the very beginning. And of course, all of this is only possible because Jeff Lurie is willing to shell out the bonus money and is willing to eat it if it doesn't work out. Eagles can improve in the coaching department imo, but I wouldn't touch the front office.
Part of the reason the Eagles fell apart last season also had to do with the front office. Looks like Howie might have realized that players from Alabama and Georgia aren’t always guaranteed to be good in the NFL.
@@dogger37JC The Eagles fell apart last season from: A) Coaching, which I still think was them making the best of a bad situation considering you have to manage your reputation with the league. B) Anticipated structural flaws with the defense that were anticipated but you can't just expect to be able to fill the entire middle of your defense with guys off the street. C) The team putting too much pressure on itself to win the SB. Teams that lose the SB rarely even make it back to the playoffs, I don't think any team has ever won it after losing the previous year, and everyone (including the Eagles themselves) overrated their 2022 performance, where they benefitted from some football luck.

The 49ers are the nfls best and most talented squad, but they don’t have the best coaching. The best coaching combined with above average or above talent wins the Superbowl, shown by the chiefs. Andy Reid outcoaches Shanahan time and time again, the 49ers when Shanahan coaches well usually are beating the chiefs up until a series of bad playcalls by Shanahan.

TF? The defense was terrible against GB and Detroit. Purdy led a game winning drive against GB, and had a historic second half comeback against the Lions (200 total yards, or 150 even if you don't want to count the tipped pass Aiyuk caught).

Kyle Shanahan is the Marv Levy of our era. Marv was at least likable. The Niners are the Bills of the 80’s . Great team, but kept on choking in the Big Game. Shanahan gets lost in the playoffs. Last chance? My god only one team can with the SB every year. The Bills lost 4 straight and history remembers them as great teams. When you talk about the Bills now you realize just how hard going to 4 straight super bowls is and NO ONE considers them as losers. SF has tremendous young pieces everywhere, they went to NFC championship and Super Bowl in the last 2 seasons with a QB who was 3rd string then off a surgery, stop panicking you’re fine. Reality is reality, SF is absolutely a top 3 team in the league but they are coming off the tail end of the best player ever Tom Brady era and hip deep in the era of who might end up being the goat Mahomes. Losing twice with Mahomes is guaranteed to end their chances. They already have internal pressure with Aiyuk and the contract situations with Williams, but that alone isn’t it with Shanahan just always taking certain risks. The Trent Richardson example is why I, as an Eagles fan, really appreciate Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie.
If the Eagles were in this situation, Trent would've already been locked up or everyone would know that he's getting traded (to a team he wants to go to, ideally). Yeah it's still a business and you can't keep everyone, but Howie has generally speaking been very "intentional" with the roster. Guys get locked up early and rarely are there contract disputes that don't have a clear and obvious end from the very beginning.
And of course, all of this is only possible because Jeff Lurie is willing to shell out the bonus money and is willing to eat it if it doesn't work out.
Eagles can improve in the coaching department imo, but I wouldn't touch the front office.
Part of the reason the Eagles fell apart last season also had to do with the front office. Looks like Howie might have realized that players from Alabama and Georgia aren’t always guaranteed to be good in the NFL.

B) Anticipated structural flaws with the defense that were anticipated but you can't just expect to be able to fill the entire middle of your defense with guys off the street.
C) The team putting too much pressure on itself to win the SB. Teams that lose the SB rarely even make it back to the playoffs, I don't think any team has ever won it after losing the previous year, and everyone (including the Eagles themselves) overrated their 2022 performance, where they benefitted from some football luck.
