Well yeah, the only real cheese you can do is tactical. There's no magic, no monsters, nothing like that. You could have super boosted shogetai with the charge buff and damage buff and top veterancy, if they run head first into green line infantry they will die

Traditional armies routinely perform well on maps where you have access to reverse slopes and I think some of the Legend's previous traditional army disaster battles didn't utilize these to full extent, but getting such a decisive victory on flat ground involved some really neat micro. Well done!

Btw really surprised that Legend didn't use hills... Not usual "ladder" tactic, but hiding behind the hill with melee and archers (work with random houses on map). 2 and a half armies? No problem for Traditional Aizu. Yari Ki and Shogetai are pretty much some of the best traditional units in the game and are incredibly powerful when used right and can avoid mass gunlines or artillery fields of fire. Traditional units only is a really challenge, and very powerful with the right units and tactics like Legend did in this video.
Bow Katchi are actually pretty underrated, especially as the attacker in sieges. I can fire upon entrenched enemies with impunity and wipe out all their rifle infantry thanks to their ability to fire at any angle. Bow Kachi can actually win a 1 v 1 against sharpshooters thanks to their rate of fire. That said sharpshooters are an overall better unit thanks to gun's moral shock, upfront volley damage, and their access to suppression fire, but Bow Kachi are still a good skirmisher unit. Their ability to fire indirectly, range, and the fact that most modern units lack of armor makes them surprisingly lethal.

I just did a campaign like this but also made the choice of keeping modernisation at 0 and not building any building that gives modernisation. Also, no ships as they're too modern. Pretty interesting run.
I obviously know what you mean but I’m chucking at the idea that *all* ships *in general* are too advanced and thus must be avoided. Does make me wish there was like 1 traditional ship you could recruit if you wanted to be a psycho.
@@cloroxbleach9222 yeah even the irl traditional clans didnt try that, they just boarded and stole what modern ships they could instead (one of the last battles was Ezo Republic elite samurai boarding the imperial flagship in a mass ambush)

Since Legend was fielding a traditional army, I'm surprised he chose to wait out the fog. I figured having missiles units be less accurate would be to his advantage.
Bow kachi are brilliant in sieges and rugged maps since they can fire above and arround terrain, essentialy sometimes being able to trade whith their enemy skirmishers for free
The most difficult part of a traditional only campaign is having to manually fight every battle and being forced to always employ crafty strategies and cheese in order to win them, since guns have very high autocalc value and win any head-on fight against traditional units. These campaigns fatigue you very quickly.
Shogitai/Katana Kachi is overpowered if they can close the distance without casualties. They can also use routing enemies as shield, And it is perfect if the routing enemies run directly to enemy line instead of to the side, Enemy in the second line will hesitate to shoot their routing friends.
Yiss! I'd really want to see a campaign for this too. Even better if you use the enhanced mod so the AI brings better armies, AI has a weird obsession with wooden canons and thrash levy units because CA didn't bother to properly adjust unit evaluation
Its also a building restriction, modern buildings including expanding settlements has major happiness debuffs, which is probably why the fots ai barely develops their lands compared to normal Shogun2. Provinces that start with Dojos and cadet schools tend to end with top tier buildings and units fairly quickly, and their clans thus tend to field very strong armies. Why are all enemies in this game white themed? I've watch a few of your shogun 2 videos and the enemies always wear white clothes and carry white flags
I was thinking about it. I was saving it for when the fighting got tough and i needed them to be unbreakable but that didn't end up happening. worst thing is to have an ability you need on cooldown because you used it when they first went into melee
Id have thought the foggy weather would be better, since it nerfs ranged units and you're mostly melee, can understand if you just skipped it on instinct tho
The AI is garbage at utilising Modern units, you can quite easily win FOTS by purely spamming Yari Levy, and commit 100% of your building slots to Traditional Economy which lets you spam even more Yari levy, buffed by the starter buffs. This battle might have challenging with 1 army of specialists, but with a 60 stack of Yari Levy, and using forests and hills to avoid gunlines, anything is easy.
Why didn't he rush them when they were all clumped up while crossing the bridge (just on ONE of the bridges)? Have 1/2 of their army isolated & also unable to shoot due to being stacked seems like a legit way of beating this, no?
The state of the company make me doubt in to buying twh3 but yeah maybe with the state of the game with amount of hot fixes maybe can compromised it btw i got the previous game and all dlc maybe consider 50% to be a good deal
Yeah, but I would also recommend getting some of the good dlcs. All the Skaven dlc are great, chaos dwarves, champions of chaos, Lizardman. The base game has few good campaigns, I would just play with them on immortal empires and you can get a dlc if you run into a faction that seems interesting.
I don’t really understand why you didn’t rush for the trees, hide, and catch them at the crossing - running away if the first units crossing aren’t the linemen ? But I do see how if that negative condition occurs you’ll exhaust the shogitai you brought in which id imagine you need 3 + a Yari kachi + Yari ki nearby for the other bridge in case Edit: oh shit seeing the remainder of those full stacks popping up at once was crazy lol Edit 2: this was a masterclass, I’ve learned

I once recruited an army of horse archers just becouse i had extra cash and sent them to die, but even tho the balance of power was 90% red the auto resolve wone with minimal loses and the entire enemy stack got wiped so yea just spam horse archers
Why are all enemies in this game white themed? I've watch a few of your shogun 2 videos and the enemies always wear white clothes and carry white flags
I don’t know
Any reason why not using Banzai!? :)
Impressive result
The AI is garbage at utilising Modern units, you can quite easily win FOTS by purely spamming Yari Levy, and commit 100% of your building slots to Traditional Economy which lets you spam even more Yari levy, buffed by the starter buffs.
This battle might have challenging with 1 army of specialists, but with a 60 stack of Yari Levy, and using forests and hills to avoid gunlines, anything is easy.
Why didn't he rush them when they were all clumped up while crossing the bridge (just on ONE of the bridges)?
Have 1/2 of their army isolated & also unable to shoot due to being stacked seems like a legit way of beating this, no?
great fight ;D
Today i finally got the last samurai dream hell yeah
TW3 now at discount is it worth it?
if you have the previous two titles yes. but honestly even then there are better games
Yes, definetly!
No, buy TWW2.
bro has been making videos for so many years yet his mic got worse why?
Is Legend doing UA-cam full time, or does he have a day job? Curious.
Full time
I wish shogun 2 is working, then i would have played alot more
Extra Bushido
LEGEEEEEEND!!
archers outranging guns is silly and op as hell
I thinks is only a balancement thing
@@juliovielma8703 archers have all rank fire and can shoot without needing line of sight already
@@SuperCrumpets but their shots do not instantly create, fear to the enemy unlike guns
I don’t really understand why you didn’t rush for the trees, hide, and catch them at the crossing - running away if the first units crossing aren’t the linemen ?
But I do see how if that negative condition occurs you’ll exhaust the shogitai you brought in which id imagine you need 3 + a Yari kachi + Yari ki nearby for the other bridge in case
Edit: oh shit seeing the remainder of those full stacks popping up at once was crazy lol
Edit 2: this was a masterclass, I’ve learned
Nice
👍👍
Very noice
The legend of corner camping
Corner Camping? I bet you would have willingly putted your troops under , heavy armstron gun fire just to not use the map to your advantage
Ah yes because any strategy besides a zerg rush is "camping". Let's charge all our units into artillery fire because lol why not?
