Imagine how fast UEFA, FIFA and the broadcasters reacted to this. But when fans and managers complain about ticket prices and the schedules no stead fast response.
FIFA and UEFA are the same pile of shit as ESL was. I wanted the ESL to happen simply to stick it to FIFA and their corrupt and vile regime.

@@SdoubleA I fully agree Anil that FIFA and UEFA need reform and increased transparency. But wishing for the European Super League to have come into existence is like praying for a stroke so you don’t have to think about the cancer, rather than just trying to treat the latter.
@@tbatallen Exactly. And for the global football pyramid to work, we also need a pyramid of regulatory authorities. Reform is definitely needed at UEFA, and FIFA may even require a complete rebuild to deal with their institutional corruption problems, but we can't simply abolish these institutions.

Not really baffling considering the club is almost out of money and plagued by horrible management in the recent years.
They're one of the most popular teams in Germany. It's been a long time since they've been considered a top team. Their in decline since at least 2014 - with a exceptional second place in the season 17/18 that can safely be considered an unfortunate accident. Unfortunate, because it overshadowed the many issues the club had and thus rendered too many people careless.

Perez probably took advice there was no legal impediment to the proposed football Superleague following a recent ruling by the European Court on a dispute between professional speed skaters and the International Skating Union. Notice that no European politicians threatened legal action to prevent the ESL because they did not have the power to do so, it was sanctioned by the EU Courts. So had we still been in the EU the UK's legal power to prevent English clubs joining the Superleague would have been limited. Without those English clubs participation, the ESL was a non starter. Brexit prevented the ESL.

@@callisto3605 yeah I am pretty sure that something like this will happen again and next time it will sadly be a succesful breakoff, unless uefa will undergo some dramatic changes. The PL new rule saying that clubs will be kicked out after trying to leave means that next time the clubs will go when they are 100% certain that the breakoff will succeed and they will do everything in their power to make it happen as they have no going back anymore. Something like what happened now exposes the problems that have been there for long, there won't be another chance to fix things anymore if not now.
So in the end football will die off anyways, be it from uefa or from a break off
@@callisto3605 UEFA are rotten to the core, but the ESL would have been infinitely worse. UEFA could persist just fine if it were drastically reformed, but removing promotion/relegation destroys the heart and soul of all that makes the sport appealing.

PSG and City are the exception because we all know where the money comes from and for too long they have got away with it which makes UEFA a joke. The new Champions League format is just UEFA’s version of the European Super League and barely any pundit is talking about it:
I think they were trying to humour those clubs likely to try and break away. Now that those clubs have been shown to be in a far weaker position than they thought, UEFA should bring in "Project Level Playing Field" and revert the European competitions back to knock out tournaments, with 2 legs in each round, except for the finals, no parachuting of eliminated clubs from one competition to the other, countries only getting extra places in these tournaments based strictly on their leagues 5 year coefficient, have as many teams as possible starting the competitions at the same stage and, if there is to be seeding, clubs being seeded purely on recent performances, not because of who they are! It's too much to hope this will happen unfortunately, but now that the greedy bastardes who tried to break away know that it would be likely to fail if they did so again, UEFA should go on the offensive and try and have as level a playing field for everyone!

I haven’t watched their games in almost a month since this Super League nonsense started, and have been looking elsewhere for a team. Same with Barcelona. Ok. Here’s what I don’t get. Setting up of EPL was due to money. the expansion of UCL is based of money and will run the players to the ground with more games. In comparison to the expanded UCL the ESL seems like a lesser evil and player friendly.
The main Downside of the ESL is having a fixed core group. If they didn’t have that it would have carried on.
What you saw was UEFA corruption, everyone who spoke out is an official at UEFA so don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Apparently competition is not allowed.
EPL should have focused more on advertising how better it was for players and smaller clubs cause they would have to expand. Also showing how corrupt FIFA was , they didnt do any of that they thought by being nice they would overtake the ruthless corrupt big wigs.
Chelsea fan: In a way, I'm proud that my team were part of a group that gave UEFA a well needed kick up the arse. Though I'm even more proud that they were the first to respond to the fans and leave.

Man the collapse of the super league and the way it happened almost brought a tear to my eye. Players, pundit, managers and most of all the fans came together to crush the super league in a shorter time than was spent planning it. Pure beauty right there.
Ive noticed some commenters all over the web commenting that the UEFA isnt neccesarily good guys either, which might be true but atleast the existing competition offers a chance of participation no matter how small the odds. Though they should think about restructuring the football pyramid so that transfer and salary gaps isnt that huge of a gap, increase requirement for homegrown talent, and league winners from all countries be guaranteed a group stage spot either in CL or EL. Its a shame that they give preference to teams that generate the most income.

The Champ League were about to introduce changes. The new proposed ESL was communicated first to counter any pre-empted Champ League changes. It was supposed to be a threat [bluff] to the Champ League changes as a break-away, but blew-up in their face. But then again, the Champ League withdrew their proposed changes.

Tbh the problem with the super league from an American who has worked in London and been to wolves games with his boss from Wolverhampton (and still record and watch every game and love it is this). From a financial side, the super league is right. The reason no American football team is valued below 2.27 billion (the Buffalo Bills) while giant teams like AC Milan and Ajax are valued so low (527 and 283 million respectively) is the lack off in a business since and the oppositely in a sporting since regulation. Who wants to make a million dollar investment that could devalue by 100 million in a year when your team goes down. Or who wants to buy a club that would require me to pay 500k a week to players who don’t start? The fact is the NFL and NBA with locked in payment, salary caps, and no regulation are just going to make more money. Thats why the super league was created and that’s why I hate it. Sports should be about sport not money-but that’s not reality. God I hate it. People want to go back to an area when sport was cheap, but why did the Roman’s build the coliseum, the yanks build a new stadium, or England build wemby. People would pay to be there and god damnit they want to. My grandmother sat next to me at an American football game once. Her ticket cost a fortune. She kept asking questions about rules. But when a player on the opposing team fumbled (equivalent of a 93+ minute goal) and we won, and she was the first to recognize and jump up to celebrate and I got to be the first to hug her it was awesome. I’d pay double for that experience again. That’s the problem. The problem between what it costs and what it means. Sport is awesome it should be free, but if I could provide the joy of my grandmother hugging me with excitement cause she knew we were going to win, I’d charge money too. It’s cruel but maybe it isn’t.
