- A long term review of the Canon G10 camera. I have used the camera for 12 years and have never thought about selling it, and so it must be good. Pro camera choice 2020 - 2035
I have put together a resource page for the Canon 5D with a lot more information about the 5D Classic Mk1. Here is the link. ⭐️ bit.ly/5d-free-resource-page

Just to let you all know I really appreciate you using the links above. When you use the links I will receive a very small commission between 1% - 5% from the company I link to. It will not cost you anything extra to use the links (I will only receive a commission if you buy the product using one of my links above) This really helps me buy more equipment to review on this UA-cam channel and gives me the time each week to make the videos.
Thanks for watching
kind regards Rich

I swear by my G10 and enthusiastically agree with every benefit you described. Yes, shoot with low ISO, yes, slightly underexposed, yes, leaf-like shutter release for low vibration, yes rich feature set for maximum control, yes stunning images. Yes...a super low noise sensor (a singular advantage for super crisp images. Low noise matter more than high file size) Yes...more than a decade old.
I have travelled around the world with it and nothing beats its combo of compact size and image quality - for the money AND THENSOME. All I have ever gotten for it is a second battery (which I have never had to use while shooting.)
Save a ton of $$$ and invest in a super camer that is STILL worth the investment.
how was the g11 and g12 compared to this g10? i notice they are actually rated "lower megapixels" than the g10 is???
iamneallyons Exactly! They dropped the megapixel rate AND there were only incremental improvements in the video. My next “goal” (no real rush) is to get the G16 mainly due to its 1080p/60 video. Otherwise, my G10 is STILL going strong! 💪
@@RANDassociatesinc well i was looking at the g16 OR the G1X to...them two are very close but the g1x has a larger sensor, artic screen BUT its older and i think the g16 has a better sensor while being smaller, but has more advantages overall.
my landscape camera this year, 2020 landscape kit video spoiler
Just bought another G10 about 10 years after selling my first one, because whenever I come across the images I took with it, I can't believe they were actually taken by a compact camera. They just look so good. Thought I'd get a better bargain though, looks like the prices are going up lately. Glad to have it back in my possession and I'm never selling it again. This one will be joining my growing collection of my personal favorite cameras.
thats great thanks for your comment
how much did you get it for?
@@whosjozikolnik I paid 220 EUR. The guy wasn't willing to negotiate and I just wanted to get the camera, lol.
holy fck I don't feel so bad for shelling out 145EUR for it xD@@BlockThrone
@@whosjozikolnik ha, ha, no you got a great price.
I still have mines from 2011. Good job!
Thanks for the tip on the ISO!
glad it helped😀
I am buying one second hand tomorrow for only 30 dollars. I had the Canon G2 in 2004 and loved it. I heard a lot of good things about the G10. Great review. 😊👍🏻
thanks for your comment, my full list of equipment video is coming soon. the g10 is still in action
I bought the G11 for 20 bucks on Mercari, no battery, had a dial problem that was fixed with contact cleaner, I love the camera, I own the G2 as well. I need to get the leather case. great video
O love my G10 and 3 days ago I rediscovered It. Quality is amazing!
It is a great camera, built like a brick to, thanks for your comment
I bought one from a professional photographer over 10 years ago. He loved his so much, he had 2. Ditched one for a Sony model. I still use this one today. One of my favorites, tough build, great pictures, long lasting battery, and proven reliability
Its a little brick of a camera, great lens, Canon were trying to show off at the time i think and it worked
I love this camera! Got one at a pawn shop not too long ago. The price of these things has actually gone up a little. The reason I got it, was because when you walk into certain places with a big DSLR oh, the security guard seem to notice you right away not to mention people who don't really like having their pictures taken. It's a good "tourist" camera. And it gives you quite a bit more control than most other point-and-shoots. The only thing I wish is that I could find one that didn't have the tiny scratch on the lens that this one has. These things are getting hard to find and the only one I would ever replace it with would be another G 10.
thanks for your comment i agree
I bought this camera today :) for 60 USD in good quality with Box and original accessories.
Bargain hope you enjoy using it
I really like my Canon G10 alot! At f/8 the images are very sharp!
80 ISO F8 yes great sharp images across the frame
@@RichardBarleyphoto Thank you so much for your reply!📷
Thanks for the info, am looking to get compact camera to bring out on mountains when running, my dslr is to big. Was looking at new cameras, but something like this might be what I need.
g10 is great. keep it at ISO80 f5.6 and just move the shutter speed. smaller sensor great depth of field.
Richard Barley was thinking now of Canon g7xii 🤔
The G10 was a low ISO battleship - I did shoot up to ISO 200 at 1/4 second for still subjects because the IS in the lens was quite good. I had mine back in 2013 and have progressed through many Powershots up to my current one which is a G7x MkII (about 4 years old now) which is another gem with the bigger 1 inch sensor and can shoot up to IS) 800 or 1600. Canons controls, menu and colour science are great as ever.
thanks for your comment
Nice thank you what the start button in the rigjht corner is for? Thanks
Recently found the underwater housing for it in a charity shop...daughter took it to St Lucia inJanuary.....Still took great pictures.
thats a great find thanks for your comment
Does this have manual exposure override in video mode?
Beautiful to look at, very classy, and beautiful to handle
its a classic camera
I’m a beginner and just bought this camera for $60. It included a case and three extra batteries. Does the Canon W-E1 wifi card work with this?
i have never used that card, but the old eye fi pro card works ok, trial and error i am afraid
Hey there friend.
Perhaps you know about a " change the battery" all of a sudden message... It happened to mine a month ago and idk if i did something wrong charging it or if it's like a sudden dead for it. I mean, for the batt...
Can you help me? I couldn't find it on google.
Thnx
hope you got this sorted out
Can I still connect my G10 to my laptop?
the nx30 sensor is aps-c, the g10 sensor is tiny, quite a bit less than 1/4 the area of an aps-c.
I know it’s small but at iso 80 in good light it’s amazing
una pregunta me podrias decir como reiniciar la camara ya que en la pantalla sale unas letras que dise reiniciar camara grasias de antemano
sorry it did not translate
Thanks. My brother and sister in law gave me one for shooting their wedding in 2008. (I shot their wedding on film not with the G10) Pretty nice. You're right, the battery is robust, much better than on my Nikon Coolpix AW110. I always felt the sensor was noisy on the G10. Didn't like shooting at 200 or 400 iso.
80 ISO is great, I agree very poor for noise
iso 80. i only use the g10 outside
What did u get in the post?
sorry i can not answer because it has not translated
It's possible recharghe battery without the original recharger and use the mini usb on the right side?
No
unfortunately not, i like usb charging every camera should have it
Sample images?
try google
I have a G10 that's been stored for the past 10 years. I took like 20 photos with it and lost interest. Want to buy it?
You will do ok on eBay with it
Will buy for $50!!
ayza Mcee More like an insult than an offer.
Lol
Do you still have it?
Wish you had a card in and taken some photos.
i never expected this video to be popular - point taken it may be worth taking some photos
G10 vs G12???
i have never used the G12
you seem to be mixing two reviews here...one for a Samsung and one for a Canon. If I didn't know both cameras I might even get a bit confused.
I am removing all my images from the internet at the moment but there are a few at www.richardbarley.co.uk
sorry none are from the G10 my mistake, I am taking down all my images and just submitting to image libraries now. The G10 is my hobby camera
