Starting to use my G10 again after it was resting in a camera bag for the last 8 years... Thanks for the very helpful run-through of the functions and settings which got me quickly up to speed again. ✅
@@RichardBarleyphoto The CHDK is worth checking out for this camera. It works great, is free and adds many features, namely a custom intervalometer. I like playing Tetris on it too.
Thank You for producing this Video. My son gave me this Camera, and I have struggled with the manual trying to learn how to use this excellent Camera on the fly changing settings, etc. Your Video has helped me quite a lot, I wanted to relay to You My Appreciation.
I just bought this camera used and am struggling to set it up in manual mode. This video has helped me so much to get started. It takes great pictures in auto but I want to experiment with the manual settings. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for posting this. I'm just in the process of resurrecting my old G10 after leaving it sitting in a bag for 10 years (literally it hasn't seen the light of day until this week). Just waiting for a new battery. I miss shooting with this little tank.
@@RichardBarleyphoto I had used it once with a Canon 580EX II (worth more than the camera) off camera on a photoshoot at an old ghost town on the Canadian prairies. Night shots of rotting wood basically haha. But the results were excellent.
I have had this camera since 2008 and mostly took it scuba diving. And now I pulled it out of a drawer, charged up the battery and want to really learn how to shoot. I want to learn and practice to shoot for real estate photos
Hi, just discovered the G10, I've been using Canon DSLRs for the last 10 years, currently using Powershot 120is as a pocket camera, the 120 gives me great results, just about to get a G10, thanks for the 2 videos you've done on this great camera.
there is a symbol 4:57 next the the exp bar a sq with a sun in the right top corner; what is that setting? thanks also how do you get the iso/ film speed to change in MAN with the control wheel?
that's a coincidense! I want to learn about photography and this camera was handend to me by my dad! It's al new to me so if you have any tips or links how to work well with this camera, they are very welcome! My main focus would be product photography so inside and lot's of light i guess...
Great video mate. Iv recently just got the g10 and I'm really looking forward to getting some street photography shots on it. I set the ISO and shutter speed in manual mode up the same as this video but the image still comes out really dark. Any ideas ??
Excellent video. I was thinking of selling mine but now I'll soon be going out to do a bit of street photography. Quick question : Have you looked into or ever tried to program so-called "film recipes" or "film simulations" to mimic Kodak or Fuji 35mm film similar to what is popular with fuji digital cameras?
Look at your lens at its highest point . When the lens retracts and opens the plastic pieces that come together over the lens are so close they scratch the lens . I got my camera new and after about 10 open and closes I had a scratch on my lens . I sent it back ,they replaced it and the same thing happened again . The 2nd time they refused to replace it . Apparently this is happening to every G10 made but they didn't recall it or even fix the problem when its returned . Mark my words everyone that has a g10 is going to have a scratch mark on there lens .
I checked mine now it seems there are little space between them and the plastic curtains dont touch the lens in my case. Its close but is not touching i tested it

Do you have a video on how you would setup this camera to shoot portrait photos?
No I don’t but if you would like a one hour tutorial online with me you can book one on my website www.richardbarleyphotography.com
Just picked up the G12. I guess your settings will work the same on my camera.
I have never used one, I expect the iso will be better
@@RichardBarleyphoto Thanks Richard !!

Do you have video for the Canon G10 to be used as webcam in computer?
No sorry don’t think you can
One question . it supposed that this Camera shoot together RAW + JPEG but i dont see that option. Or only raw or only JPEG

ok im a muppet I see you changed the shuttle speed not the ISO with the control wheel also found that symbol Create Folder.
Just bought this camera and the flash option in the menu is greyed out in manual and all modes. The flash button on the wheel doesn’t work either
