I recently visited PMG Karting World in the United Kingdom. It's a new track with an impressive fleet of BIZ electric go karts! In this video I break down my fastest lap and challenge the viewers of this video to beat my lap time!

I may have been too fat to get a decent time 🤣 even with all these tips I just about scraped a 21 second lap. I was on speed 3 btw. Did you get to try out speed 4 by any chance?

Really nice information. I still wonder why people slides their kart into the corner by tapping the brake just like you did in this video instead of braking at the straight before turn into the corner like an f1 car. Is that the best way to having a great lap time? As far as i know we have to avoid the kart from sliding because it can make your kart slower that could affect to your lap time. Could you tell me which one is the best methods to turn in go karting? Btw i'm using the braking methods like the f1 did

In kart indoor you cannot turn so well if you brake strait before the hairpin and you turn only with your steering wheel. The fact to slides by tapping the brake is exactly the same as rally cars when drivers use the hand brake into the hairpin . Because with the rental go karts when you push to the brakes actually it brakes only at the back side of the go-kart because there is no brakes at the front side .
Only use it when the hairpin is very narrow . 😉

@@nico4319 Thank you for your information, i really appreciate it. Well, this whole time i did the hairpin by braking in the straight lines and it does work pretty well to me, i didn't lose the rev and prevents me from getting the kart slide so i have better acceleration at the exit. But i'm new to this thing so i might gonna try your tips and learn much more about this. Btw, what is the gap time difference can make with that turn?
PS: I made the hairpin turn by braking in the straight lines and then i release the brake and didn't step the throttle pedal when i make the turn, and as i pass the apex, that's when i hit the throttle pedal.

F1 drivers dont just brake in a straight line and accelerate through the curve from the point they come off the brakes - it is actually a lot more nuanced than that.
If you have done track days then you will have been taught that braking in a straight line, coming off the brake completely and then going on the power is the fastest way around the bend - but its simply not true, and the reason they teach you that is because it would be too complicated to explain the truly fastest way, and a lot more expensive as people would inevitably bin it with massive amounts of understeer.
In both karts and F1 the reality is that you are using precise control of both pedals to rotate the car and get the fast exit speed. So what you are seeing is the kart sliding in a negative way but actually it is positive because it is manipluating the shape of the kart and lining it up properly for a faster exit out of the corner.
There is a lot of commonality between F1 and karts which is why so many F1 drivers claim that karting is the closest of all of the motorsports to F1.

    how much you weigh ?

I weigh 60 KG. However, I was experiencing alot of juddering in the kart on this track because of less weight. For an indoor track 75kg - 80kg might be the sweet spot.
Check out the this video where I compare how much weight affects lap time at an indoor track:

I’m 84 kgs and as planted as the kart feels into some selected corners the difference of speed up the hill compared to a 55kg opponent was unbelievable, my fastest is a 19.212, today I only managed a 19.240 I think the coke track and old tyres don’t help 😂
