    40 years of karting under my belt. Mostly 100cc and 125cc direct drive. 5 years of racing and the rest lapping every week. Won a few , lost many ..but allways enjoys every second of this wonderful hobby. And the money was allways very tight if not invisible.

    been karting for 7 years (I'm 16) and still only do rental karting which is fine. The fact is that a vast amount of drivers are like me as owner karting is incredibly expensive and is something I can't afford at the moment but have been saving up for a time when I can. Tho it is worth mentioning that I race DMAX-GTs which is the closest you can get to owner karting in rentals. If you're in the same position as me and you see all these other people your age doing all this cool stuff and you're still racing rentals then don't worry, as long as you keep saving up you'll own your own kart one day and, if you're able to get even more money, just maybe you'll be professional when you're older

    I've just started going to Buckmore park for arrive and drive sessions, looking to get my own kart in a year or so. Atm my budget is about £300 a month for practicing (so about 3-4 hours a month) and then from October will be participating in rental kart grand prixs (looking at sharing with a teammate or two, so it basically costs the same as practice per hour).
    Hopefully, I'll be good enough that when I get my own kart, I can take of it and not mess it up with beginner mistakes :D plus it helps that my dad has been a car engineer for 40 years - FREE MAINTENANCE!

    My 10 year old son has been indoor carting a few times and he always wins. I took him one time on a week day and he was only one there. The track marshals said i’ll come on with you so you have someone to race. My son in a child cart and the marshal in an adult cart. After the race the marshal said you really need to get him into karting. I do this everyday and I couldn’t catch him. So now looking to get him into it. He does motocross already. Think im gonna need a pay increase 😂

    Hi Red.
    I have Kalì with a Rotax SenMax like your's and saw your video a couple of days ago when you went testing by yourself without a mechanic.
    I too would like to be able to do that but I am too afraid to ruin the setup, chassis etc even though I know some things from seeing my team's mechanic work on the kart.
    Do you have any advice for me to be able to be more independent from your team in regards to testing or any videos you watched with this same purpose?
    Kind Regards Red, keep up the great videos. I hope you make more vids about your race weekends, I enjoy them a lot.

      My son is 13 and wants to start karting. These are the options that I found. 1. Start "rental" karting at an indoor track , many have a racing academy which will teach you the basics and run championship events so you can get experience. 2. Find an outdoor karting track, many have karting race clubs attached to them. You can get outdoor experience using rental karts (faster than indoor karts). Go to the club races at the track (not the rental races) and talk to people in the paddock about karting clubs and "how to get started"

    How much does it roughly cost to join a team, and how much does it cost to go solo?

    • @RedExions
      @RedExions  10 місяців тому +1

      You can make both as expensive or cheap as you want. But let's say solo: 20-100k per year. Team: 35-100k

    • @anowysz6
      @anowysz6 6 місяців тому

      in the US, to do one national race weekend in x30 senior solo (2 practice days and 2 race days), usually it's around 3k for all expenses (assuming roughly an 8 hour drive and 11 mpg). if you want to pit with a team, usually it's between 2 and 3k on top of that for all 4 days. this is also without any hired mechanic costs. its brutal honestly, but if you can make it happen, it's just about as much fun as its possible to have. just doing laps at a track isn't too far behind in fun (in my opinion), and is way cheaper and more relaxing.

    • @slinpozz7171
      @slinpozz7171 11 місяців тому

      yep it´s true that it gives more horsepower, especially in corner exits it´s pretty fast but it is not faster than the old cylinder. and more hp is not faster every time. in terms of maximum straightline speed the old one is definetly faster. our engine tuner confirmed that also. so at the moment the old one is for 100 percent faster. probably arount midseason the new one will be faster but that is also not sure in terms of tuning how this will handle. no one is sure about this. and i would recommend you, if you want to buy one, talk with an engine tuner or wait till midseason, bc around midseason it is sure if they are faster or not. and it is not worth it buying one at the moment.

      With a budget like that it's hard to race even in Rotax (the cheapest category where I also race). I recommend you race in Rental Karting and "invest" in a lot of practice and doing a lot of races. You can also put forward a dossier with your racing records to send to companies and attract sponsors.
      Racing in 2 stroke karting is hard with as a new kart is probably around 7-8k. 4 stroke, apart from rental, I have no idea about.

    • @niekl.5346
      @niekl.5346 11 місяців тому

      I would recommend a rental karting championship, by budget is 1.5K-3K depending on how much i earn. I just started karting, so I don’t know a lot about it. But at least in my country (the Netherlands) we have formula karting, where you have different levels/classes, if you had 6K a year i would recommend the normal championship and endurance championship (you do need a teammate for endurance). This would cost €1300 for a full season of the normal championship and €2700 per team in endurance racing. This doesn’t include travel, food and if you need it a hotel.
