I think she's now an outcast from the entire punk scene...no-one or venue would want the hassle, whinging prima-donna demands or the responsibility of handling the vitriol she has brought onto herself...
I’m not trying to dig or critique Erin Micklow as a person; but viewing this purely objectively, she is just rife with contradictions & inconsistencies. Maybe Erin Micklow thrives on the struggle & conflict - or maybe she should just pick a side & stick with it to be safe. She really needs to honestly evaluate all the contradictions that keep pulling her down & putting her in harm’s way. You be the judge: (1) She deigns herself as a punk (or at least dresses as a punk) but also calls herself and also works as an actress/model/influencer, who has been in some small time films and features. The general themes of punk in of itself is antithetical and or rebellious against Hollywood glamour and systems of control; of which the actress/model lifestyle is decidedly entrenched. (2) Erin Micklow tries to straddle multiple lines and identities that it appears inauthentic and fake and unreal. She has literally one foot in the “punk” world & one foot in the “influencer” Hollywood celebrity world. She has lots of social media pictures of her walking red carpets to Hollywood parties & events; while also going to popular festivals and large shows with all the big punk bands. She is called a “poseur” and a pretender and a fake punk because she can or tries to straddle the line. It’s like if Kim Kardashian or Kendall Jenner wanted to dress down as a punk or metalhead and go to a Slayer show - but then sit up in a VIP balcony & never go into the pit or wall of death. She just talked about how she hooked up a punk rock band with a Hollywood connection to get featured in a Hollywood production?! Really not so punk. Even actual Hollywood connected punks like the Vandals’ Joe Escalante (whom is a screenwriter, entertainment law attorney & former television executive) … don’t drop posts about their pull in Hollywood. Punks would respect Erin Micklow if she chose to be a punk or a non-punk or even a Hollywood celebrity or even just a clingy groupie. Punks (mostly) don’t care if you are punk enough or even punk: they care if you are real and authentic. But Erin Micklow tries to straddle multiple lines and assume multiple identities- & it comes across as inauthentic and fake. Simply put, you can’t be everything to everyone. (3) She styles herself as a punk; but most of her social media posts are very materialistic in nature: e.g.: to show off how hot & sexy & skinny she is; how skimpy her outfits are; her beauty routines; how much she’s accomplished & how many things she has, etc. Her social media refers to her modeling in various outfits, her condo in Hollywood that she also uses as an Airbnb; her new vintage car; her boyfriend; her vacations and trips to Vegas & Mexico; etc. It’s basically like a Kardashian Instagram feed - it couldn’t be any less punk. Punk is generally antithetical to such overly excessive & rampant displays of materialism. Most regular punks only post on social media them actually doing punk things like going to punk shows, playing in bands, buying records, making records & merch - aka actual regular things and tasks related to punk. They generally don’t boast about their displays of wealth or accoutrements or achievements of their private lives. (4) Erin Micklow is FULLY AWARE and conscious of these contradictions and instead of trying to mitigate the criticism and harm; she actually LEANS IN FORWARD to embrace the criticism, harm, and the consequences & then later COMPLAINS bitterly about the consequences. Part of the punk ethos is to be resilient when bad outcomes occur and weather criticism; but then deal with it & try to mitigate later harm and injury. Erin Micklow is aware that she is a model/actress/influencer who dresses up as a spiky haired, leather clad punk & gets in thick with a crowd of fellow punks that were chugging 40’s in the parking lot. Or maybe she is really a dirty tatted street punk who saw “Pretty Woman” and gussies up for four hours by styling her hair; corsetting her frame & squeezing into a vinyl mini dress so she can make a fashionably late entrance on a Hollywood red carpet walk. She knows that she can cross into both worlds easily. But certainly not seemlessly. She gets into trouble when the punks call her out on the actress/model/influencer persona and the dress up punk part. She is absolutely RIGHT and correct that those irritated punks are jealous of her UA-cam fame, her beauty, her achievements - or that those detractors and punks perceive her as a fake punk, a pretender, a “dress up punk”, or a “poseur.” She is aware that she made herself a target to some - and yet acts or appears blissfully oblivious to it. Erin Micklow kinda takes and suffers the long hard way thru it: She suffers needlessly without mitigating, before eventually getting a clue. She actively complains & engages her haters. I mean she often puts a target on her back and then complains when others hit it. (5) She practices transcendent meditation; but somehow doesn’t give her the inner peace to ignore her bullies and haters. Meditation is supposed to make you more resilient and patient with others, along with improved health benefits of better breathing and blood pressure regulation. Obviously the meditation isn’t helping. People romanticize about punk rock and the punk scene as being “the free space” to do whatever you want, and maybe Erin Micklow has internalized this mantra to a fault. But that naive notion has been long repudiated. In reality, it is still a clique and a faction. It has certain rules and limits. The punk scene has its own faults, walls and gatekeepers. Punk is open to all; but it certainly is not welcoming to all. You can enjoy the punk music all you want; but when you call yourself a “punk”, you’ll see firsthand how soon the knives come out. Punk has historically had problems with racism, bigotry, homophobia, sexism and misogyny. Even today Punk is not a completely safe space for women, as Justin Sane of Anti-Flag showed. Most vocal punks are either left of center, progressive or radical left & would rather scream and bully others than want to engage different viewpoints in a civil manner. You can never be punk enough; because other punks like to draw newer lines and newer ways to discriminate (I.e. you’re not crusty punk; you’re not broke enough; Green Day & Blink 182 are not punk; pop-punk is not punk; ewww, you probably like the Casualties). Gatekeeping never ends. It’s ironic that Erin Micklow and her social media brand actively targets and appeals to a segment of punk rock fans and punkers, of which a significant segment might actually become her biggest haters and detractors. It’s as if she flirts with being both simultaneously adored and hated by her same target demographic. If Erin Micklow wants to identify as a punk; she is free to do so; but she has already learned the hard way that the punk community & punk scene has massive walls, limitations & unwritten rules that she punkishly tries to defy & unfortunately, she will continue to suffer the consequences.

At the 1:43:54 mark she says "I'm not trying to squeeze my way into where I'm not wanted." She literally has been for years though. She has a big chip on her shoulder because she knows she's not liked in the L.A. Punk scene, yet she continues to try to get into these shows for free saying that she's "Press/Media". If she's not trying to squeeze her way into where she's not wanted then why does she continually invite herself to "parties" that she's not invited to? You think she would get the hint by now.

Nacho does ALOT for this scene always has. Way before this chick came along. He brings bands over that never get to play or haven't played in a long time. He brings them here pays for everyone, feeds them, gets their merch made. Does it all. Then theres you that try to get into everyones shows they've worked hard on for free just to interview lets say a band like Acidez that you never gave a shit about before because you didnt even know who they were. You were too busy documenting a vacation in Mexico that no one gives a shit about instead of trying to see what bands you coukd interview in Mexico. Then once they played at Rebellion all of a sudden you want to interview them. Like you know who they are or something. You don't know shit about the scene or the music and then try and use everyones hard work to try to get famous from. Literally the only way you can be on camera and be seen is by "interviewing" bands and its hilarious.
Exactly all this! NACHO earned & paved his way into the scene. He didn't just wake up one morning and say "HEY I wanna be punk today". There's no issue wanting to interview bands, cover shows, etc, but be up front about it. Stop putting a costume on and trying to be something you're not!!! It took me 7 DAYS to power thru this interview and I just wrapped it up at 5 in the morning while getting over a gnarly summer cold. 😢 If I took notes on all the inconsistencies and signs of deception, I would end up with a whole ass novel.
I said this in the chat, but I'll repeat it here. "Anyone that knows me has seen me get assaulted" is such a wild statement. If it's true, it should warrant a hefty amount if self reflection, but I don't see that happening.
She said she does her research before interviews but when she did that interview with the late Menzi, from the Angelic Upstarts she absolutely fucked that up, she called them an Oi band and Menzi said before we start I have to tell you we were never an oi band, we are and have always been a punk band. The look on her face was hilarious. I will give her credit, though, she did manage to salvage and continue the interview.
Menzi hated the O word the reason for it was for a long time it was associated with boneheads, he also got burnt by one steven patrick morrissey, basically he was hanging out with moz for a while during the 90s and moz did an interview where he said "oi is the voice of the uneducated masses bands like cockney rejects and angelic upstarts" basically Menzi felt that Morrissey was calling him stupid.

Adrian went in on a woman on woman fight in the women’s bathroom then tried to say Erin was getting “jumped” hinting at SA…which is factually incorrect on both accounts…fake SA allegations makes it harder for actual survivors of SA to get justice. Thank you! I’ve genuinely survived SA, went through an ordeal with the investigation, media, and justice process. It was awful and I had nightmares continuously for over a year where I was struggling to run or fight. My fiancé (RIP) would have to constantly wake me up because he thought I was struggling to breathe in my sleep. You can’t just throw that shīt around and use it at will. It matters.

Given how little money there is in the genre, it would be a very weird to be faking it. I think if she didn't go quite so full-on with her look she'd get less criticism, and there seems to be an oddly toxic amount of people in the USA in particular who hate the whole 'classic punk' look, and declare anyone who opts for it a fake poser etc.

People like this(Erin) don’t understand that bands like Rancid, The Adicts… are not the scene. The “scene” is based on bands that play every weekend, pass their own flyers. Those are pretty much the mainstream bands in the genre
Rancid is my personal favorite band, but yes, they're a mainstream punk band. I still buy tapes and shit from the scene, Erin hasn't bought a local album in years I bet...

I’ve worked many bars and shows and Everytime this lil lady would come in she’s been difficult. She would give the door man a hard time about paying any cover because she was on “their list” despite her name not being there. When she’d come to the bar she’d ask for free drinks saying she’d plug the business in her next show and when we refused she would throw her “don’t you know who I am” bullshit around. The owner would sometimes give her a drink or two just to shut her up. In my humble opinion, she’s a self entitled brat who doesn’t like to be told NO. You Sir have done justice in helping to bring her true self to light!
Just because you've never seen any of these people before "in your life" doesn't mean they are nobodies and aren't doing shit in the scene. You only interview bigger bands because you're a coattail rider. If you knew anything about the scene in the city you live in you'd know the newer bands and would try to interview them. You don't know any newer bands or even less known older bands and aren't even trying to find out who's doing what in this scene BECAUSE YOURE NEVER AT ANY SHOWS. Have helped Exploited, W.K.S.J?, The Erections, The Riffs, Loosey, Naked Aggression and more. I'm at every show and this b*tch is nowhere to be found. Even years ago. @@Batdog98 honestly, at the start of the interview, the host was completely civil, and she derailed the interview by constantly cutting him off, and visually promoting products on his podcast, and I doubt if she asked him for permission. The gaslighting is a bit of a reach, but he handled her unprofessional attitude as well as anyone could, I am surprised he wasn't rude to her.
It's very unpunk of me, but I am super into watching interrogation/statement analysis videos. I wanted to give Erin the benefit of the doubt, but AS SOON as she started describing the attack I immediately caught multiple signs of deception. -She switches the tense when describing the incident. -When asked if a drink was really thrown in her face she immediately deflects and asks " Why do you think my face looked like that?" instead of answering the question directly. -When she starts to describe the incident, she also deflects the conversation to start talking about her history of getting into fights at shows to garner sympathy. This sort of deflection is often used by hoaxers to coerce the audience into being more receptive to the false narrative. -MOST IMPORTANTLY in the original video Erin posted right after the incident she goes thru this whole spiel that the woman who assaulted her said something abour her being a poser before shoving the sticker down her shirt, and in this interview she says she never spoke a word to her. Real victims don't conflate sensory facts like that. One or two signs of deception doesnt necessarily mean someone is lying, but when you add them all up it's clear she's not telling the whole truth. Thank you for doing this interview. You're a saint for sitting as long as you did with this lying narcissist. If I had done the interview she probably wouldn't stay more than 10 minutes because I would've clocked her immediately.
I think this opened a lot of people's eyes to what kind of person she really is. I don't think I did the best I could have done, but I tried to stay out of my own feelings as much as I could. She really grates on me. Thank you for your support 🙏

I was surprised that the interview lasted 2 hours and 23 minutes. I thought she was gonna get upset early on and end the interview . At least she is quite the storyteller.
Why doesn't she just stop exploiting the punk scene. It is so obvious she's trying to look and act punk so she can get more attention on her social media page because she's an influencer. I hate cancel culture but she is one of the few people that literally deserves to be cancelled. Punk rock is way more than just a type of style or fashion, to a lot of people it's a way of life, it is something that is very dear to them. For someone like this to come and take what is near and dear to you and use it for views and likes is really shallow. Punk shows need to ban her.

I remember seeing Alyssa Milano at a Capitalist Casualties show down on Pico in the late '90's...I was wondering at the time if she would get some grief, but she was just another lady at a punk show. This is the last comment I’ll make on here: she talks abt how she’s friends with a lot of the bands she’s interviewed and how they like her. Like yeah, that doesn’t mean shit. Of course she’s sucking up to those people. But we’ve all seen that screenshot of her telling a 14 year old to put a bag over her head. How a person treats public figures is not indicative of their character, but how a person treats who they consider to be random people says everything about who they are.

A trauma counselor for a fight at a punk show is kind of crazy. I dont care what happened but I wish my life was so incredible that something like that is the worst thing i could possibly go through. I got attacked by an attempted carjacker or rapist a month ago while getting out of my car and I fought for my goddamn life and thankfully got away from 2 dudes who were armed with pepper spray and knives but never even considered a trauma counselor..
I have never seen such a vain, obliviousness to self awareness, narcissistic, massive ego lack of humility all the most horrible human traits wrapped up into one person..she may know the music but shes never lived it, breathed it, paid her dues from it..and if a fight in a bathroom is the single most traumatic experience of her life then shes never ever had it hard

I've played in tons of punk bands since I was a teenager and toured all over and never met anyone that had anything nice to say about her. Idk not EVERYONE can be lying! I'm only 20 minutes in and already I feel like shes gonna beg you to take this down in a few days lol I'm really not buying her story.

I’m not trying to dig or critique Erin Micklow as a person; but viewing this purely objectively, she is just rife with contradictions & inconsistencies. Maybe Erin Micklow thrives on the struggle & conflict - or maybe she should just pick a side & stick with it to be safe.
She really needs to honestly evaluate all the contradictions that keep pulling her down & putting her in harm’s way.
You be the judge:
(1) She deigns herself as a punk (or at least dresses as a punk) but also calls herself and also works as an actress/model/influencer, who has been in some small time films and features.
The general themes of punk in of itself is antithetical and or rebellious against Hollywood glamour and systems of control; of which the actress/model lifestyle is decidedly entrenched.
(2) Erin Micklow tries to straddle multiple lines and identities that it appears inauthentic and fake and unreal.
She has literally one foot in the “punk” world & one foot in the “influencer” Hollywood celebrity world. She has lots of social media pictures of her walking red carpets to Hollywood parties & events; while also going to popular festivals and large shows with all the big punk bands. She is called a “poseur” and a pretender and a fake punk because she can or tries to straddle the line. It’s like if Kim Kardashian or Kendall Jenner wanted to dress down as a punk or metalhead and go to a Slayer show - but then sit up in a VIP balcony & never go into the pit or wall of death.
She just talked about how she hooked up a punk rock band with a Hollywood connection to get featured in a Hollywood production?! Really not so punk.
Even actual Hollywood connected punks like the Vandals’ Joe Escalante (whom is a screenwriter, entertainment law attorney & former television executive) … don’t drop posts about their pull in Hollywood.
Punks would respect Erin Micklow if she chose to be a punk or a non-punk or even a Hollywood celebrity or even just a clingy groupie. Punks (mostly) don’t care if you are punk enough or even punk: they care if you are real and authentic.
But Erin Micklow tries to straddle multiple lines and assume multiple identities- & it comes across as inauthentic and fake.
Simply put, you can’t be everything to everyone.
(3) She styles herself as a punk; but most of her social media posts are very materialistic in nature: e.g.: to show off how hot & sexy & skinny she is; how skimpy her outfits are; her beauty routines; how much she’s accomplished & how many things she has, etc. Her social media refers to her modeling in various outfits, her condo in Hollywood that she also uses as an Airbnb; her new vintage car; her boyfriend; her vacations and trips to Vegas & Mexico; etc. It’s basically like a Kardashian Instagram feed - it couldn’t be any less punk.
Punk is generally antithetical to such overly excessive & rampant displays of materialism.
Most regular punks only post on social media them actually doing punk things like going to punk shows, playing in bands, buying records, making records & merch - aka actual regular things and tasks related to punk. They generally don’t boast about their displays of wealth or accoutrements or achievements of their private lives.
(4) Erin Micklow is FULLY AWARE and conscious of these contradictions and instead of trying to mitigate the criticism and harm; she actually LEANS IN FORWARD to embrace the criticism, harm, and the consequences & then later COMPLAINS bitterly about the consequences.
Part of the punk ethos is to be resilient when bad outcomes occur and weather criticism; but then deal with it & try to mitigate later harm and injury.
Erin Micklow is aware that she is a model/actress/influencer who dresses up as a spiky haired, leather clad punk & gets in thick with a crowd of fellow punks that were chugging 40’s in the parking lot. Or maybe she is really a dirty tatted street punk who saw “Pretty Woman” and gussies up for four hours by styling her hair; corsetting her frame & squeezing into a vinyl mini dress so she can make a fashionably late entrance on a Hollywood red carpet walk. She knows that she can cross into both worlds easily. But certainly not seemlessly. She gets into trouble when the punks call her out on the actress/model/influencer persona and the dress up punk part.
She is absolutely RIGHT and correct that those irritated punks are jealous of her UA-cam fame, her beauty, her achievements - or that those detractors and punks perceive her as a fake punk, a pretender, a “dress up punk”, or a “poseur.” She is aware that she made herself a target to some - and yet acts or appears blissfully oblivious to it.
Erin Micklow kinda takes and suffers the long hard way thru it: She suffers needlessly without mitigating, before eventually getting a clue. She actively complains & engages her haters. I mean she often puts a target on her back and then complains when others hit it.
(5) She practices transcendent meditation; but somehow doesn’t give her the inner peace to ignore her bullies and haters.
Meditation is supposed to make you more resilient and patient with others, along with improved health benefits of better breathing and blood pressure regulation. Obviously the meditation isn’t helping.
People romanticize about punk rock and the punk scene as being “the free space” to do whatever you want, and maybe Erin Micklow has internalized this mantra to a fault. But that naive notion has been long repudiated. In reality, it is still a clique and a faction. It has certain rules and limits. The punk scene has its own faults, walls and gatekeepers.
Punk is open to all; but it certainly is not welcoming to all. You can enjoy the punk music all you want; but when you call yourself a “punk”, you’ll see firsthand how soon the knives come out.
Punk has historically had problems with racism, bigotry, homophobia, sexism and misogyny. Even today Punk is not a completely safe space for women, as Justin Sane of Anti-Flag showed. Most vocal punks are either left of center, progressive or radical left & would rather scream and bully others than want to engage different viewpoints in a civil manner. You can never be punk enough; because other punks like to draw newer lines and newer ways to discriminate (I.e. you’re not crusty punk; you’re not broke enough; Green Day & Blink 182 are not punk; pop-punk is not punk; ewww, you probably like the Casualties). Gatekeeping never ends.
It’s ironic that Erin Micklow and her social media brand actively targets and appeals to a segment of punk rock fans and punkers, of which a significant segment might actually become her biggest haters and detractors. It’s as if she flirts with being both simultaneously adored and hated by her same target demographic.
If Erin Micklow wants to identify as a punk; she is free to do so; but she has already learned the hard way that the punk community & punk scene has massive walls, limitations & unwritten rules that she punkishly tries to defy & unfortunately, she will continue to suffer the consequences.

He brings them here pays for everyone, feeds them, gets their merch made. Does it all. It took me 7 DAYS to power thru this interview and I just wrapped it up at 5 in the morning while getting over a gnarly summer cold. 😢 If I took notes on all the inconsistencies and signs of deception, I would end up with a whole ass novel.

Thank you! I’ve genuinely survived SA, went through an ordeal with the investigation, media, and justice process. It was awful and I had nightmares continuously for over a year where I was struggling to run or fight. My fiancé (RIP) would have to constantly wake me up because he thought I was struggling to breathe in my sleep.

I’ve worked many bars and shows and Everytime this lil lady would come in she’s been difficult. She would give the door man a hard time about paying any cover because she was on “their list” despite her name not being there. When she’d come to the bar she’d ask for free drinks saying she’d plug the business in her next show and when we refused she would throw her “don’t you know who I am” bullshit around. The owner would sometimes give her a drink or two just to shut her up. In my humble opinion, she’s a self entitled brat who doesn’t like to be told NO. You Sir have done justice in helping to bring her true self to light!

@@Batdog98 honestly, at the start of the interview, the host was completely civil, and she derailed the interview by constantly cutting him off, and visually promoting products on his podcast, and I doubt if she asked him for permission. The gaslighting is a bit of a reach, but he handled her unprofessional attitude as well as anyone could, I am surprised he wasn't rude to her.
It's very unpunk of me, but I am super into watching interrogation/statement analysis videos. I wanted to give Erin the benefit of the doubt, but AS SOON as she started describing the attack I immediately caught multiple signs of deception.
-She switches the tense when describing the incident.
-When asked if a drink was really thrown in her face she immediately deflects and asks " Why do you think my face looked like that?" instead of answering the question directly.
-When she starts to describe the incident, she also deflects the conversation to start talking about her history of getting into fights at shows to garner sympathy. This sort of deflection is often used by hoaxers to coerce the audience into being more receptive to the false narrative.
-MOST IMPORTANTLY in the original video Erin posted right after the incident she goes thru this whole spiel that the woman who assaulted her said something abour her being a poser before shoving the sticker down her shirt, and in this interview she says she never spoke a word to her. Real victims don't conflate sensory facts like that.
One or two signs of deception doesnt necessarily mean someone is lying, but when you add them all up it's clear she's not telling the whole truth. Thank you for doing this interview. You're a saint for sitting as long as you did with this lying narcissist. If I had done the interview she probably wouldn't stay more than 10 minutes because I would've clocked her immediately.

One thing I thought about when she mentioned the whole thing about keeping her hair brown and not dying it cos of work etc…. Yo there’s plenty of girls in the punk scene who don’t spike their hair and keep somewhat normalish and they are still respected. So this whole thing about her thinking people don’t like her cos she seems to have one foot in and one foot out is BS.

This is the last comment I’ll make on here: she talks abt how she’s friends with a lot of the bands she’s interviewed and how they like her. Like yeah, that doesn’t mean shit. Of course she’s sucking up to those people. But we’ve all seen that screenshot of her telling a 14 year old to put a bag over her head. How a person treats public figures is not indicative of their character, but how a person treats who they consider to be random people says everything about who they are.

A trauma counselor for a fight at a punk show is kind of crazy. I dont care what happened but I wish my life was so incredible that something like that is the worst thing i could possibly go through. I got attacked by an attempted carjacker or rapist a month ago while getting out of my car and I fought for my goddamn life and thankfully got away from 2 dudes who were armed with pepper spray and knives but never even considered a trauma counselor..

Bro im from the LA scene and all I know is regardless of how we feel about her, this has nothing to do with the band Still Pist! and I agree with you fully brother, we need to make sure the band itself doesn't get affected by her huge following. I started playing in the LA punk scene in 1999 with my first band Youth Rebellion. Now THAT was a different time and there was lots of fighting and issues in the scene. What happened with Micklow is laughable compared to those days. She is making a mountain out of a molehill. Worst of all, spreading false information.

as a punk from the late 80s, 90s, to the present day, this sounds like an average friday night, right or wrong, the punk scene can be rough, i feel like the people who say "my culture is not your costume" first time an "apparent" punk rocker went to a trauma councilor over a little dust up. if you want to be a public figure, you have to know people are gonna fling shit on you. stay ananymous if you cant handle shit talkers and if you dont represent the general ethos of punk, dont dress up like one, that is the definition of a poseur.

I've played in tons of punk bands since I was a teenager and toured all over and never met anyone that had anything nice to say about her. Idk not EVERYONE can be lying! I'm only 20 minutes in and already I feel like shes gonna beg you to take this down in a few days lol I'm really not buying her story.
Also I haven't seen this sticker but if any band made a sticker making fun of someone in the punk scenes I've moved around in and everyone wasnt pissed about it then that person has probably fuckeddd upppp lol

Really what you said toward the end was great, she has potential to be likable and is a bit wrapped up in the wrong crowd. She took that as id expect her to, probably felt like being talked down to a little but what do you expect when you act this way? If she humbled herself and ignored people giving her shit I'd probably like her a bit, but her thing seems the opposite, ego leading to conflict that she capatalizes on the attention of.
