All things PUNK ROCK, Oi!, Hardcore, and DIY!!!
Pretty accurate channel name, lol. I am going to do a lot of punk rock content. Album reviews, song reactions, retrospectives, and podcasts covering punk rock, oi, and hardcore (all punk adjacent music) from the mid 90's to now. I will even be checking out newer bands and doing streams as often as possible.
I have a small indie label and would love to check out your music, so please reach out on IG or email if you have a band you want me to review or check out!

TOP 5 SKA BANDS You Should Be Listening To!
Sandinista, not just my favorite album by The Clash, but one of my favorite albums of all-time. But like most Clash fans, I loved the debut most initially, then moved to the expanded sounds of London Calling. Sandinista pushed the enveloped even further. In turn, I think as Clash fans got older, their individual tastes also evolved which is why more people probably appreciate that album now as we've been exposed to more diverse styles and are likely more open-minded about music.
I wanna hear about The Screamers!
lol. She is nowhere near attractive enough to be a real model. Aside from OF and a middling maxim model. That nose the shape of her face. She is delusional.
What a great conversation. Hes very humble and down to earth. Cheers!
I genuinely like that record, like I said in the stream it reminded me of the bronx/drips if they played oi, of the lets call it "trad oi" style (not including cold oi) Slugger and crown court are "the" bands. for sure.
You've obviously not heard The Clash singing their song called 1977 . It goes No Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones! 😆
Try Stiff Little Fingers ✌️but start from the beginning and their LP Inflammable Material 🔥
You seem to prefer Mick Jones Singing. Try ,Stay Free Train In Vain Lost In The Supermarket..etc
Clit 45 rules!
Yes, yes they do!
Randall, great job covering 77 Punk. You should consider tackling U.K 82 next.
Thanks man, I am absolutely doing UK82 soon! Any recommendations or info you got would be appreciated, too
@thepunkrockreview as a starting point, you can't go wrong with GBH, The Varukers ,Major Accident, One Way System, Blitz, and The Partisans.
"That place is incredibly Caucasian........ they're gonna behave like animals if you let them".........wtf does that mean?
Not 100% with no context, don't know who said it or what it was referring to. Could have just been a dumb ass comment, too. Got a time stamp?
@@thepunkrockreview Bottom right window at 22 mins 39 seconds in.
Never mind the Bollocks is best produced punk album ever and greatest debut album ever in my opinion 😊
Greatest debut ever? Hmm? Not sure about that
Lemmy always said they were Punks with long hair
Great video Bro,well researched 😊
No Woody Guthrie? No Billy Bragg?
I'm not an expert, it was just a conversation. I dont know Woody Guthry (I'll check it out) and I don't like Billy Bragg. I tried, just couldn't get into his music
@@thepunkrockreview Woody did "This Land is Your Land" which everyone gets completely wrong. He wrote a lot of anti war and anti fascist folk songs back in the 30s and 40s. He's the first "punk" in my opinion.
Great video! SPIRIT OF 77 FOREVER
Thanks man, I had fun doing this one!
Great review, great year, great albums (almost all of them), a couple of milestones (Rocket to Russia, Clash debut) and... THE SEX PISTOLS!!!
Pistols released only one album but in my opinion it's the best ever of all genres!!! (sorry Nirvana, Beatles etc)
As a guy who doesn't part take in drinking or smoking or drugs of any kind, I still don't think of myself as "straight edge" I'm still very wild without any need for chemical "enhancement"
I totally understand that, lol, I have done some WILD stuff, stone cold sober
@thepunkrockreview me too! What part of the US are you in? I'm on tour across most of it this year and next
I love this great job. I always kind of forget how never mind the bollocks came out way later than I thought. Motorhead self titled album is the quintessential punk Motörhead album. The next album overkill is the quintessential heavy metal motorhead album.
Wire influenced a lot of DC punk bands mostly because the mackaye brothers were into them, minor threat covered "12xu". They also influenced a lot of the dc post hardcore bands fugazi, moss icon, q and not u, faraquet, engine down etc.
Hope the saints or radio birdman gets mentioned or any of cbgb bands dictators dead boys ramones cramps or even the damned
hell yeah clit 45!.
The first two records are raw punk rock, especially the first one. The rest are more post punk, new wave art punk kinda stuff. I love all of them. I’m a huuuuge fan of The Clash.
AC/DC with bon is the real deal sped up blues heavy rock eg touch too much or if you want blood later they were heavy rock/metal eg thunderstruck or who made who. CRAP.
East End Barbers is sick (as is Liberty and Justice, that Fat Tony ft on Six Two remains one of my favorites), coolest barber shop in Houston hands down. I need to start going back there. Do you have a physical location for your shop or is it online/shipping only?
Funny that he says he never messed with post punk. We used to say Clit was the street punk Smiths. Always glad to hear new stuff from Dave. I saw Clit more than any other band back then.
If a straight edge person ever actually beat someone up just for smoking and no other reason that was the only time beyond that I’m calling it an urban legend. If anyone would like to share personal anecdotes to the contrary here I’d be very interested
Hope has been hitting me hard lately I am always jamming out to that one recently. Anyone who says punk is all nihilistic are not paying attention cause that message and you guys are just a beacon of awesome. LET PEACE BE SEWN
Thanx you.Punk is nihilistic for the people that takes less important stuff from it.pose ,image, need for call attenttion.Punk is very Big genre. You got nihilistic bands, bands with puré artistical aspiration, bands with ideals, DIY ethic bands with political agenda that want to create a scene, Horror punk, bands that want to exprés things ,from anger to society ,to love for rockandroll, drugs and sex ,your gfriend-boyfriend,about organice a better society.Im punk junkie i love punk. But my favs are from Dead Kennedys,D.O.A, M.D.C.,CRUCIFIX,TOXIC REASONS,THE DILS ,Black Flag,FINAL CONFLICT! . Like i said im addicted and Sex Pistols,The clash,The Damned, Generation x , The Rezillos,x Ray spex,TheAdverts,Angelic Upstarts.Punk IS to Big and hate when people try to put in a mold .its not! Its my Life ,joy, memorys with Friends .Got to say me and my Friends LOVE travel,LOVE punk and i seen It almost all.Holidays in the sun first editions, squats over Europe watching Gorilla Biscuits,Bad Brains , LAR'M,PANDEMONIUM...And the scene in Basque Country squats. We Alwais organiced to open Anarchist spaces ,Squats, scenes,Fanzines ! Vive le punk! History of my Life!Thanx! Long live to punk.Lets make freer and better societys ,Justice, liberty.collaboration ,solidarity against Fascism .united where strong ,divide we fall!
Strength through struggle!!
Cool dude, cool band
Yooooo!
Looks like the US and Russia are about to start, not good
Clit 45 rules 🔥
Yo Randall you looking trim brother!
Thanks homie, I've lost about 30 lbs this year! Trying to lose about 20 more, get to a healthy weight and maintain it
@ baby steps man.. Fitness is a long game and your doing it right.
Mike you will be are and will be A OK
The Ramones and the Damned the rest followed suit.
Great choices, if you like "Pure Mania" you should check out their "V2" record. It's a better record, imo. Also in the same vain would be Slaugter & the dogs, 999, Eddie and the Hot Rods...
As an elder emo slowly morphing into punk, ( ideology and all) Ive been diving into the music, but I have now found thanks to your video that I love the heaviness and energy of street punk. ❤ Thanks for not being some elitists in a community Ive always wanted to join and shared the same views of..
@punkrockreview so far only half way through this but knowing you just caught the Vibrators and Boys hit i think you will like the bands Slaughter and The Dogs, and Eddie and the Hot Rods
great story mate.
Great video mate! Never heard of this before and I really enjoyed it
Man i wish i had a chance to have tried quayludes. Just because of the slang term... Disco biscuits lol
If those had been around in the 2000s, we would have done them, for sure... smh, good grief, lol
I think my overall favs would be Ramones Leave Home and The Clash self-titled. As for I think the punk record that's most influential, I'd say it's Wire's Pink Flag, which paved the way for the future of post-punk and even Britpop, as well as the existing punk genre of that time (even moreso than Never Mind The Bollocks did)
You present a great podcast. Keep up the good work bro. Peace ✌️ 😊
I was at the final tour in Edmonton. Get Dead fucking rocked
2 get to 77 punk records , the stooges, mc5 were a massive influence on what was to become punk search and destroy is a punk song in 73 and i feel alright by the damned is a stooges cover + the pistols cover no fun, ect the Ramones were all Stooges fans, but especially the Ramones, there first album and visit to uk in 76, was what got folk excited that something was brewing, the first 4 albums are all classics btw, also the pub rock scene was also influential ,alot of those bands became punk bands, the sex pistols play and get everyone more excited the saints, im stranded , the damned, new rose , sex pistols anarchy in the uk 7" singles all came out in 76, as for other great albums from 77 ..... Dead boys young loud and snotty, Eater the album...the stranglers rattus and no more hero's...radio birdman.. radios appear. The drones...further temptations, but alot of punk in 77 was on 7" singles slaughter and the dogs.. where have all the boot boys gone and cranked up really high. X ray spex..oh bondage up yours. Adverts...one chord wonders + gary Gilmores eyes. 999.. im alive + nasty nasty, Lurkers shadow + freak show. Sham 69..i dont wanna. Chelsea...right to work. Buzzcocks orgasim addict. Generation x.. your generation to name a few, as for good crass records try p envy its the all girl singing one a womans point of view and a fantastic record, but so is feeding the 5000..get the lyrics out ans sing along😂Enjoy
Can’t wait for that Jesse interview !!!!!!!!
Bruh.... lol, man I am tripping out on that one, myself!
The Dickies are a good early punk band
Last point ian glasper (the punk rock historian on this) would actually cite crass as the OG crust punk band, like he said its retrospectively splitting hairs back then crass, discharge, amebix etc was all one thing. Both he and mike dines the other historian on that scene say the same thing. that scene was so diverse but those in that scene bought everything there's no point in creating subgenres.
