      The Two Rock is a musical beast for sure! It wasn't right for me however. I could not dial out the midrange for what I needed at low volume. The Two Rock was the king of the mountain when it was pushed just a little bit. Killer amp for sure. The build quality is incredible.

    To me the Two Rock was bud far the most dynamic and had the harmonic richness you mentioned and the Rambler is most most even/balanced with a sweet and smooth tone. Totally different cleans to me and probably depends on your preferences. Those were my two favorites and I can see wanting to own both! If you have the money lol

    I liked the Two-Rock as an all-arounder, but think the LE pulled ahead on gain. The Rambler is just a pretty sounding amp, but seems to prefer to stay clean. Those Two-Rocks are a little spendy new, though. Great comparison, as always Gary!

    Gary. I always enjoy your videos. You have first rate Amps and I’d be hard pressed to choose one over the others. I may be partial to the Rambler, but that is probably because I own one. The guitar you’re using is also impressive. Well done

      Thanks Don. If I don't compare, I can plug into any one of these and dial in a sound that makes me smile. Then I get lost in playing music. Comparison just gives a frame of reference for varying tonality and differing performance to some degree.

    Great shootout. I won’t vote as I am biased, being an owner of the TR-SS, although I have the head and 2x12 Cab - which presents a much bigger stage and deeper low end than the combo, although the combo is great. I do also love your Carr Rambler - have played it at Austin Guitar House several times and it’s amazingly good.

      Thanks Neal. I am really impressed with this Combo. Most of my shows are small to medium, so the size/weight and performance of the combo is the smart move for me. the low end fullness is surprisingly big. I dial down the bass to no more than 9 o'clock. It seems to be plenty.

    I would try a comparison with all 3 going through the 2 rock speaker. That is, a patch cable so you run the Columbia and the Rambler through the 2 rock cab and speaker. I think that would be the most telling.

    They all sound great but I have owned several Two-rocks and there is something almost sterile about the clean sound that I don't like. That's being pretty harsh as well because they're great amps, but to me they just have too much mids and therefore not enough clarity, and there is something special about the Carr that the two-rock clean is missing. The Carr sounds "wider" in this video but also somehow much clearer to me. The mids are perfect - not too scooped and not too heavy in the mids. Clear sparkly top end. Really rich harmonics. I think the Carr sounds the best by far. I just sold a Two-rock classic reverb signature 100/50 and I currently have a Carr Rambler. It's an amazing amp. I do like the Studio sig though for more clean headroom. Little too much mids for me though and the price is too high for the quality of parts used in the amp IMO. Great demo!

Yes, I am just using an HTC One M8 Cell phone. I kept it after moving to iPhone years ago because this particular model records audio so well. I will be upgrading my process and gear in the future. For now, simply put, it works.

      @@gair1944 It sure does record well! I've watched hundreds and hundreds of videos on amps. They never really capture the sound of the amp in a room. Sometimes I think a phone does a better job than a pro mic setup. The best pro setup I've heard is Peach guitars, but I think some of the other channels who have expensive setups make the amps sound pretty awful. I wouldn't even change anything if I was you! sounds really great!

    Hello Gary, I’ve been looking at both the Carr Rambler and Two Rock Studio Signature. All of my references are through word of mouth and UA-cam. Unfortunately, there aren’t any music stores around my way that carry either. I’ve been watching your videos (some several times over) to try and determine which I like better. Do you have a preference between the two?

    • @gair1944
      @gair1944  2 роки тому +2

      Feel free to email me at gairman1@gmail.com I have a lot of thoughts. The answer however depends on how much of a total clean platform you want among other things. The Rambler has a unique and special sweetness but does break up and gets into some sag and overdrive earlier than the two rock. The two rock will give you infinitely louder pure cleans if you need that

      @@gair1944 nicely done videos as always. Well, I checked out the vids, and I would seriously consider a Super Bee. I think a Two-Rock is going to be overkill for the house. Any help with your experience here is appreciated. 1) do you use the attenuator or mainly just dial in with the master volume? 2) does the attenuator tend to work/feel better on the 10 vs 12? If the amp were mainly to reside in a room no bigger than 15,12 or so, would you prefer the 10 or the 12? My only dislike of 10s is they can sound thin on treble strings, but they can be less overpowering on ears if listening closer (on lower volumes). But that difference is marginal. Cheers!
