There will never be a game like this ever again. This was from a time before people powered through levels/story and obsessed over min/max playstyles. Before the internet gave up every secret and instead let you and your friends decide how the game is supposed to be played and enjoyed. Truly a beautiful experience that I am grateful to have been a part of.
Communities will never be like they were in XI, that's for sure. Working with others to where bonds were usually formed by the hardships that were endured. Was always a pleasant surprise to see someone you know running by you in Jeuno just for you both to stop and begin chatting. The LS I was in was small, but our group was like a family, I miss it.
One in lifetime game for sure
Hail. ⚔
same
Okay so yes, I totally agree that there will never be a game like this again. But I have pages upon pages of macro gear switches that I was required to use to play some of the jobs. Min/max was a requirement lol
I'll get those Leaping Boots any day now...
I’m just going to say it. For those of you who started out in the warm winds of Windhurst, the misty morning shade of Sandoria, this particular tune will always be nice, exotic, mystical. But for those of you who were thrown face first into the rugged, barren, dirty landscapes of South Gustaberg, who started those first tentative steps into an unforgiving wasteland of dust, uncertainty, and absolutely no guarantee of tomorrows success…this song. . is an embattled anthem to keep putting one foot after the other til you get your ass where it’s supposed to be going.
It’s a song of checks and balances against the soul that wants to quit, look away, take the easier roads. It’s a kind tune to those who would give up, take up other endeavors, both in game and irl. . Make better use of their time. For those who would stick it out however, transcend amidst adversity, grow into something better in lands soooo far away. . .this song is the gateway. It’s the proving ground for allllll that’s to come….and by god, so much will be coming. So many trials. So many miserable failures. And with a bit of luck. . .so many grand victories brighter than the sun itself. So many friends, so many foes, so many reasons to advance forward in spite of it all.
The next time you have business in Bastok, take a moment and step out side. Look around and listen. Listen to this song carefully, and then look down at the ground by your feet. If nothing else, there is every possibility you will realize, amidst whatever trials your shoulders bear. . You’re standing on very very solid ground. .
Nothing but warm admiration for this post fellow patriot of Bastok.
Glory to the Musketeers, fellow Bastoker.
My favorite zone in the whole game. Bastok bred for 8 years... the good old days. I've been playing FFXIV for over 3 years now and simply love it... but FFXI will always have my heart....
Well said, I'm a bastok guy or was. Nah.. I am! Lol
My heart belongs in Windurst, but I also love roaming around Bastok so much 💛
Bastok SUX filthy humes! LORY BE TO SAN'D ORIA
Cared is that you ffs! lol
Well you outta come back to ffxi. Horizon is a great classic era+ server
Remind me of my first day playing this game as hume whitemage soloing in this area and dangruf wadi until level 14 back in 2003.
FFXI was the only game that made me feel like I was living in it along with many great people I met in the game.
It's been already 20 years.
Wish 14 had this magic, I used to have a tear in my eye playing this zone with this music
Seems morel like a personal thing to me. I started with FF14. I can certainly say that I feel that magic when I hang out in Central Thanalan or the Burning Wall.
@@DenarianLord great to know it has that magic, how long in the game does it take to get to those areas, as I only played it for a few days and I just put I down thinking it didn't have that quality and was to headachey with over the top tables on the screen.
@@nameless.greyceo Central Thanalan? Starter area if you choose Ul'Dah. Right outside the city gates.
@@DenarianLord ah think I chose limso limposo or whatever it's called 😂
@@nameless.greyceo Limsa Lominsa. Its nice enough if you like rolling fields and farms. Interesting areas around there, but not at low level.
This song always brings me back to the good ol noob days!
Awesome name
I've left part of my soul there 20 years ago....
You can never go home again... but it's nice to remember. Thank you.
The music to this game were perfect
ALL HAIL BASTOK!!!!!! FXI 4 LIFE, EVEN THOUGH ITS NOT SAME GAME!!!
I play FFXIV now, but sometimes I yearn for the FFXI days. The long grinds, sitting around socializing until you find a good party, the long treks that make the world feel huge and alive. And the music. Always the music. This one hits me in the gut with nostalgia. Those were good times back then before I had adult responsibilities. I especially miss the sound of "raise"
I really like 14, but 11 was my first mmo, so it has a special spot for me. It was a combination of it being brutally unforgiving & the community you were forced to build because there was no way to progress without friends. Can you even imagine if they brought back losing xp on death & de-leveling? That mechanic probably wouldn't fly now, but it gave real weight & consequences to your actions. Grateful I got to experience this unique time in mmo history.
Greatest game and greatest Nation hands down... Ballista King you can call me Best of Jugner Forest. Siren Server will live on forever in my heart...❤
The sheer nostalgia. This zone was my jam, even on a bootleg server.
my favorite song ever
I miss it, bros.
I miss it so much, almost like I lost a soulmate, if that makes sense. So many years of playing, the memories, the people, the soundtrack.
Man. I've played XIV since ARR came out, and I don't regret any of it. But XI was my first MMO. Baby Red Mage starting in Bastok... I really miss it sometimes.
So many hours spent here in Gustaberg.
Never played this Game, but this track.. man what kind of god create this ost? It is absolutely beautiful. I visited a park a few days ago and let this Music played.. idk man it was like im in a rpg game
When no one played MMOs and they still had soul.
This is where leaping lizzy spawns lolol
Playing this vid as I level up in Gustaberg on a private server so that I don't get interrupted by the battle theme lol
Where's Leaping Lizzie?!
your next turn , bro
Lastock FTW! (we were always last in the conquest)
Cool!👏👏👏👏
Lastok still last on Horizon. But the music will always be first in muh heart. 😭
Me too, fuz. Good comment. This song is 10 years of nostalgia bliss. Bastok FTW. 🥰
Side note... started playing on PS2 back in 2004. NowI' ve been playing FFXIV for 10 years. (Hears the goblin fisher hanging out near the bridge and a sprout, a rock crab, and a vulture ). But I would totally buy this game again if they rereleased it as a single player. Where's the Quadav footsteps? Things used to terrorize my dreams. I can still hear their aggro sounds. Oh, I think that was them. 😁
Why no video of the lighthouse? That was my favorite place in the whole game. Used to just sit there and listen to this music.
Love it man
Oh yeah, this is it
I'm love windhurst city but bastok BGM is special for me
Bastok 4 Life
/sh Anyone has seen LL pop already???
Soul.
This game looked and played like ass. It was balls to the wall hard, infuriating and let me wait hours in town to get a group to play.
And yet... Here I am.
there's a disruptive sound effect every so often, kinda of like gunfire, that makes this impossible to sleep through.
I think its a nearby bird. Akbaba I'm pretty sure
The flapping sound of the bird or the sound at around the 1 hour mark that is a Quadav casting Protect on itself?
0/106 LL :(
