That wind sound while running though there… the place I would go to, so I could escape the hardships I was going through in real life. Gustaburg kept me sane through that time.
Pushes me to tears in the best way, honestly. I don't think I'll ever forget that sense of wonder I felt stepping outside to South Gustaberg during my first login of FFXI.
I can vividly remember trying to figure out how to move my character for a solid 3 hours after downloading FFXI for the first time. It was so silly how you had to completely exit the game, log out of PlayOnline, and then edit some of the key keyboard settings inside a completely separate settings file in Windows. I think my issue was my laptop had a compact keyboard, so unless I had that option selected before even launching PlayOnline, nothing on my keyboard would work in game... Anyway, simply zoning into South Gustaberg felt like a huge acheivement in this game lol. The music definitely gives me the feels!
Double-shift work vibes and my mind wandered in my last two hour hike. I started humming this without realizing. Here I am, 20 years old in my heart song in a 33 year old body.
I remember I was just running along the road when I encountered someone sitting by one of the campfires. Sat down along with them and before long we were friends. Met so many people just out adventuring or in parties. ❤️
Any time I hear this music, I feel the nostalgia hard. To this day, when I recall XI, I always remember this piece, along with the Sanctuary of Zi'tah theme as a very close second. Thank you for posting this loop!
I love you for posting this. Never take it down and I'll promise to watch it over and over again. I played ffxi for 7 years of my life and still miss it to this day.
I know...I had a really miserable childhood and this was literally the best thing I had in my life at the time...nothing even comes close. I hear the music and sometimes I just tear up.
This brings back memories. From last week I just bought this game like 2 weeks ago and this song is bad ass. There's a few people playing btw . This song is by far my favorite from the couple I've heard thus far
This song makes me nostalgic in the worst of ways, yet I always come back to it. It affects me more than any other song I've ever heard. To me, it is a masterpiece. Thank you for making this loop with the ambience. Incredible work!
Viewtiful ASMR -- it encompasses that sense of wonder and adventure in the face of hardship. I played as a young teen, and I feel like it was the perfect time in my life to immerse in the lore, the grind, and the community. FFXI was truly magical in its prime, and this song kind of represents the experience (especially to us Bastokers).
Well said! and same, i was 18 when FF11 launch in the US and since Ive played many MMO's and only a few gave the same feels I.E Wow when your a noob or a new expac hits...but even that is fleeting. I feel like ill never be in love like i was with FF11, LOL we all remember our first loves... Maybe a full VR MMORPG would lite the flame again idk =)
Once every few months, I'll come back to this one and just let it play on loop for literally a day or two-this one or Carpenters landing. Makes working from home so relaxing. Your ASMR - FFXI playlist has been my favorite playlist on UA-cam for years, now. I doubt that'll ever change. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for creating this treasure trove of timeless nostalgia.
I'm flooded by nostalgia every time I listen to this track. FFXI was my first MMORPG and Gustaberg my most loved zone in any game till this day. Thanks for uploading it.
I was like searching up for nature ambient sounds for sleeping, then I remember FFXI fall asleep after massive hours of playin and waking up again in the same area.So thanks for the long Vids, now I listen to them and can feel free of worries.
I still remember the 1st day I exited the gates of bastok and entered gustaberg back in 2004. That's when you would see so many other players also just starting out running around killing things in the zone. Those were the days! I so wish SE would create a classic 75 cap server. I would he back in a heartbeat. Oh and put it back on consoles
The impact this game has had on me as a person is simply impossible to describe The mere fact that i have only been alive one year longer than the game has been out and just hearing this music brings back such vivid memories of a time i have otherwise all but forgotten is a testament to this games greatness in its own right Hundreds of hours camping leaping lizzy. Tediously attempting to do the dark knight quest solo as a level 5 warrior with no great sword skill and the sense of pride when 7 hours later a misguided and fatigued taru taru finished the quest. Dieing to pixies over and over and over again and lets not forget leveling down. This game taught me that people will help when you need it. This game taught me how to communicate with others. This game taught me how to co operate for a common goal. It taught me sometimes life isnt fair and to just move on. And it sadens my heart now that when i play on retail i see a game which is the very antiethsis of everything thst made it great. A modern mmo with a outdated skill system gear thrust upon you for practically nothing and being able to solo through 15 years of content inteded for large groups in a matter of days or weeks job points to increase the hours spent doing nothing but sitting alone wishing for a enemy that didnt fall in a single blow and wasnt worth 2k exp It sadens me to see what square has done to their game. At least there are always private servers that never forgot
I appreciate that square made the game re-accessible for today. Frankly, the gaming community just is not in the same place it was when this game came out, oh so long ago. If I went back, the community I loved playing with wouldn't be there. And I'm a very different person, so who knows if I would still even love it the same, or just ruin memories. Like you said, life isn't fair and you gotta move on. Appreciate the time you had :)
Double-shift work vibes and my mind wandered in my last two hour hike. I started humming this without realizing. Here I am, 20 years old in my heart song in a 33 year old body.
i see a lot of people come here for the nostalgia saying how much they miss this game, i urge you all to come back, the game needs more people that arent botting or RMT, we need the old people back that really love the game, if anyone reads this and wants to join me on Asura server i'm Cloudius, send me a /tell for a Linkshell
I'm sure there are more reasons, like we are all older now, life can be busy. Personally I wouldnt mind, but I played this game on a console (04 to -09) and I don't think I would have the same comfort playing this via PC.
That wind sound while running though there… the place I would go to, so I could escape the hardships I was going through in real life. Gustaburg kept me sane through that time.
The feels. So much of my life spent running through this area, farming beehive chips, or hunting Leaping Lizzy! Thank you!
Exactly.
This video is north gustaberg. South gustaberg is where leaping lizzy spawns.
@@james-ok7gd Why you always gotta make shit weird? The man's over here reminiscing and you trying to correct ppl.... oof fail
Are you still alive?

i can still member =)

My Heart WILL ALWAYS BE BASTOKIAN!
/salute
I am Windurstian Mithra (I started playing again), but Gustaberg will always be the best Starting Area Music, hands down.
Bastok forever! This song warms my desert heart.
Bastok ftw!
@@Glostahdude Bastock FTL!!! San D'Oria Foeva~
My favourite music in all the game, sometimes made me cry.

Oh the feels. Love how you can hear the worms spawning at some points haha. Great stuff!

Bastokan hume here. God the music of this game. How I loved this game so much. Just the music alone makes me feel nostalgic.
Best part of my life, the nostalgia hits you hard when listening to these. The music was a big part of FFXI for me. I’m glad I was there!
This song makes me nostalgic in the worst of ways, yet I always come back to it. It affects me more than any other song I've ever heard. To me, it is a masterpiece. Thank you for making this loop with the ambience. Incredible work!
same its like a Nostalgic hollow happiness you can barely touch with your feeling surrounding the memory of this game...if that makes any since...lol

Probably one of the most important songs I've heard. Been listening to it for 15 years. How can a video game soundtrack be so imprinted?
Thank you so much for making these. Played FFXI for 6 years and having these tunes brings back so many happy memories. Keep up the good work!
Nice! Always like putting on these videos before going to sleep.
Thanks for all the uploads ^_^
Last night of my Sub =( hope you enjoyed moving on to other games ...so many pretty Vista to cover so stay tuned and i hope enjoy what comes next =)

FFXI Remastered
Came back to this comment 3 years later to say that I am proudly on ffxi again on the classic era+ server horizon. Dreams fulfilled!! 🥹

A large chuck of my playtime was here!
Playing this music no matter what zone I'm in. Love this game as much as the rest here. SOO many great memories!!!!
This still gets me, I worked out I spent 1/30th of my entire life playing this game!
The one dislike is Leaping Lizzy
or someone haunted by hundreds of hours of spawn camping LOL

an IRL town near me is called Gustavsberg. The city center is almost as barren as this.

Awesome. Need to make Pso'Xja :D
I perked @5:04 on the video looking for the worm and its sweet sweet zinc ore.
Please make Promvyon , Sea, Caesarea mire
