Got 21 salmon total in one afternoon, only kept 2 for dinner, the rest were safely released.

Yes, even for 4 lb leader. But for leader that is more than 60lb, I used PR knot
How deep is the water there? Just drop right under your boat and let hit the bottom and jog?
I cast out as far as possible and let it sink to the bottom then jig it back, water probably 10meters.

Never ever hold a fish your going to release by the gills
I know, for the ones that released, I just hold it from outside, not getting my finger inside the gills, and I wet my hand first to protect the fish skin
Only the first one I actually touched the gills that’s because I was keeping it
