I have to say that finding people to buy microgreens is the most difficult aspect of this business. I have walked into 50+ restaurants with samples and have had only 1 of them showing some kind of interest. What you are saying is theoretically right but very difficult to make it happen.
@@PrincetonMicrogreens thx! i'll watch right now! here where i live, has nobady doing this. I want ot start but hve no money yet, How much Grams i need to have profit ?
@@cannanaves7278 the best thing to do is make a spreadsheet to understand profits. Put down the cost for your medium per tray, seed per tray, containers, etc... Figure out how much it costs your to get your product into containers ready to sell. From there you will know your profits. Everyone will be a bit different since materials are a different price all over the world.
I have a video for Kohlrabi that I’ll be posting soon. How to make popcorn blackout dome along with a separate video for popcorn soon as well. Then perhaps a more detailed video about our setup.
@@PrincetonMicrogreens Thanks! I do have a practical question: I have a number of people on a weekly subscription but I only offer 5 varieties regularly, and I fear they might get bored of rotating those 5 every time. When I do grow specialty and limited varieties like beets, chard, basil, or amaranth, should I maybe give everyone a 1 oz container for free, or should I charge? Let me know what you think
When you sell your tray to the restaurant do you have to keep buying new trays? Also if you use dirt or compost to grow in are they ok with that material in their walk in fridge?
Just because someone doesn’t have a foothold over a market, doesn’t mean that they can’t make a sustainable business model. So disgusting to see how many ppl think this and encourage others to give up before they even try. Enjoy your 9-5 job pal
@@nickspeakstruth133 you completely missed my point. Most people that start a microgreen company don't have a plan and all they do is rip people off selling their poorly grown microgreens at a ridiculous price. A guy here sells an ounce for $8, he should be banned from every market for trying to rip people off.
Thank you for the video. I have a question about how to sell. I also live in NJ but far north and want to start selling micro. I have been told I do not need to get a license from nj department of Agriculture. I was advised to contact the local health department. Do they come to my house to inspect? Do I need some kind of license, permit or get inspected? What do I need to do to start selling? Please advise. Will be greatly appreciated. Thanks 😊
The NJ dept of agriculture is part of Rutgers. I spoke with them and you do not need licensing or anything to grow/sell microgreens. Just make sure you have farmers market and business liability insurance, along with a business license.

Completely agreed. This is after you have a clientele.
We will have more that discuss strategy getting clients.

Try growing weed and shrooms, ESPECIALLY if it is illegal. Its a stupid law and needs to be broken .

I’m not sure about making 1000 per week… but I am sure that you’ll lose your ass trying… because you can’t get anyone to buy them.
I love this! Please continue with more business side videos!
Definitely will!
Can you share your system to deliver the trays to customers? How do you figure out fitting them in your vehicle? Thanks
This made me realize I don't need more racks yet I need a lot more trays first! Thanks you.
With what seeds can you make this happen? 🤔 Great videos !!
Hey man, so I’m regards to selling the tray. Wouldn’t you be loosing money with the tray itself or do you get that back later somehow?
Voilà une bonne question ;-)
So do they give you the trays back?
Great video on the business side of things!!
Hey, do you have any more videos coming out this week? I LITERALLY can't wait. Your videos are so entertaining and informative :)
I’m recording multiple at once sometimes! Haha!
It gets hectic at times, but I thrive on staying busy! 😉😉

Are you still growing and selling? Haven't seen a video in a while. Hope everything is OK!♥️👍

Hope your grows go well!
There's no way, you need at least two and that would be at retail price to regular customers.

Hey I’m trying to find the video with the link for those corn husk containers!!!
When you introduce your crops to light do you just keep the lights on the entire time?
Where do you find your packaging labels?
How do you get your first customers?
You can not store trays with soil in a walk in
Get video but your website is down .. cheers
If you're in the US you're competing with fresh origins who has over 100 varieties

What's the size of the tray being sold for 25 bucks per tray..?
Standard microgreen size is 10x20 inches.
Where do you recommend buying seeds?
Where did you get the jars for your seeds? 😍

I'm a newbie to Microgreens. If the average microgreen can take upto 10 days to mature, how do I have a batch ready each week?
We explain that in the video 🥰
