I have a cs680 and just installed a Tsumura light 28" bar. Also bought a 50' roll of full skip semi chisel chain and made my own chains. Came out to 97 drive links. Cut 30 cuts into a laid down water oak and didn't have to tighten the chain one time. Not really sure what the Tsumura bar did to make the saw cut like it did but I am impressed. No dulled teeth either. Might need to open up the oil holes a little with the dremel because at full flow the chain did seem to get dryer than usual but noticed no stretch. Guess the bar helps help the chain to keep cooler.
Great video Tony. Loved the way you started with the outtake 😂. I was thinking the exact same thing in getting a 24 in bar for the 590. Now that I saw this I’ll be doing it this week. 👍🏽🇺🇸
Thanks Paul! I have been running the 24 inch bar for almost a year now, the 590 pulls it with no problem 👍🏻 I would recommend using a full skip chain though, it helps keep the rpm’s up in the bigger wood. Thanks for watching I appreciate it, take care-Tony
Can’t beat those Echo 590’s, got rid of my 460 rancher right away and bought a 2nd one. Cut a 42” Oak running a 24” and 590 didn’t hesitate at all with the TQ it has!!
Can't speak on the 460 but I'd imagine it's more capable than a 455 but those are the saws you want especially if price is a factor because you can always find a factory reconditioned 455 for around 300 bucks with a 20 inch bar and it basically has the same performance as the 590 but alot less money .factory reconditioned 460s are 379 which is also cheaper than a echo 590 and I bet in the long run the husqvarna will last longer cause I keep seeing comment of people buying multiple 590s after a couple years when my factory reconditioned 455 still starts like a new saw after 10 years of use for professional tree work. I've never considered buying another 455 cause I don't need to nothing is wrong with it
@@mrtree1368 I don’t pickup my CS590’s as much now that I have a 372xp & ms461. But the Echo Timberwolf CS-590 is a metal case with bolt-on cylinder doesn’t even compare to a plastic clamshell Husqvarna rancher that’s stratocharged.
My only complaint about the sugi hara. Tsumura and Oregon brand bars . The oil passage holes on the bar are VERY small I always take a Dremel and hog the hole out a good bit. Flows much more oil. Large holes like what the holzfforma bars have are ideal I have videos on my channel of a 590 easily running a 24" Also not lifting up the bar tip enough before tightening the nuts down
Thanks Jay!! I was nervous that the cs590 wasn’t enough saw for a 24” bar but I’ve run a couple tanks through it now and it hasn’t affected the performance a bit. Thanks for watching, have a good one. TC
Hey yo Tony Get ya the Echo OEM outside Felling spike. It is a breeze to mount, and adds just under a whopping two ounces. 😆 Makes a big difference having the two felling dogs! ‘SawAgain’ really good to deal with. Get one of those nylon brushes that look like a giant toothbrush, for the sprocket area, and clutch cover. And blow it out with compressed air. It was painful to see you poking around the clutch area with that scrench! How that 24 inch bar been working for ya? The 590 will pull it, with the right chain, as ‘Wood, Sweat and Tears’ noted. Stay safe and Healthy! 👍✌
Hi George! Thanks for the advice, I appreciate the feedback I’ll look in to getting the outside felling dogs. The 24” bar has been great and the 590 has no problem pulling it, great saw for the money. Thanks for watching, take care.
Hey Tony! CS590 and a 24" light bar is no problem. The chain you decide could be. Either way, it will pull it, just depends on what performance you want. Full skip might give you the best for keeping the RPM's up at thr power head. I think you should try different things for yourself and see. Thought provoking video. Take care! WST
Hi Mike, I wasn’t sure what the difference was with the whole skip thing and I was nervous about kickback so I went with a standard chain. I will definitely get a full and semi skip to see what works best. Thanks for watching and the feed back!! I’ll see you on the next one,TC😎👍🏻
@@TCsOutdoors1 hope I didn’t come across wrong. Things I’ve learned with chains is there are options and it is all dependent on what you are cutting and the size of the power head. The CS590 is 60cc and 3.9 bhp. That is plenty for a 24” bar. What makes the saw work is if you can keep the RPM’s up in the cut. If it continues to bog, that isn’t productive. Diameter of wood will suggest the chain. If you are cutting max diameter of the bar, full skip would be recommended. If you see a lot of 12-16” diameter material would most likely be fine with full comp. That being said, having a full skip on the shelf ready for the bigger stuff, you can never go wrong and you can cut anything with it. Hope this helps.

Hey Tony I have the cs590 timberwolt I also have the cs 7310 and CS 800. I love my Echo chainsaws. I also have the cs 310 little chip. I was thinking about putting 24-in bars on all my larger chainsaws. I'm hoping that the 24 inch bar all interchange.
Hey Stanley, sorry its taken me so long to respond to your comment it just showed up on my page? I am kinda hoping the bars are interchangeable also, I think I am going to order the 620P. have good one.TC
I just bought a new 590 back in February and came with a 20" bar and chain. I immediately sent it to Iowa Performance Saw's and had limiters removed, have the muffler modded and retuned. It cuts great, good power. I'm wanting to go with a longer bar but not sure what length I want to go with cause I don't want to go too long and not have enough power. I think a 24" will be good but curious about running a 28" bar. Anyone in the comments have any recommendations on a good length for the 590 that doesn't take away power from it and still pulls it good as the 20"
With the money you put into that saw you should of just gotten a 620 which is the high performance version of the 590 and then if you mod that saw it'll really rip and handle a 28 inch like nothing
Good addition, now let’s see that thing in action. I might have missed it but what chain Tony,. ? Full chisel, semi , FullS. Have a great rest of the week bud.
Hey Richy, I went with a standard chain full chisel. I plan on getting a couple semi skip to try in the future. Thanks for watching, have a good one👍🏻😎
That's not an upgrade you simply put a larger bar on it . If anything for that type of saw it's a downgrade. You wanna run a 24 inch bar should of looked into the 620 it even comes with a 24 stock
@@TCsOutdoors1 you should of ported and piped a 620 you see bucking Billy rays moded 620 in his video from a a couple years ago ? Now that thing rips and he has a 28 inch on it

My CS590 came with a 24" stock and Echo recommends up to a 27". A 28" Bar shouldn't be any trouble especially after an added hole in the muffler.
