    Great job Joy and the paper towel to protect the vacuum bag is a great tip that also ensures even post apocalypse you'll have a napkin
    Win-win 👍

    Hi! Awesome video. Very well thought out, well presented, and full of great information. I make similar packs for my meals when back country camping.. I've never used a vacuum sealer though! Seem like a great addition! Thanks for a great video. Have a blessed one

      Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I actually learned how to make my meals-in-a-bag from watching camping/backpacking videos, lol. You should look into getting a vacuum sealer, there are so many things you can use it for. Blessings!

    Good idea. Consider tracking down some of the survival water packets. About 5 ounces each. They are designed to allow for freezing. Add one or two, enough to rehydrate meals. Packet of matches, some hot sauce. Add a couple four wipes and some TP and you are good to go, so to speak. I randomly put in a toothbrush, toothpaste, small floss, comb, Kleenex pack and other items like nail clippers any small useful item, kinda like the treat that was in the crackerjack box, if you recall. Best

    Great video. I will have to grab those bags, much easier with the zip top. I started making dehydrated fruit and jerky because I have Celiac disease. New subscriber 🤗

      Thank you! I love the zip tops! I even get my quart size mylar bags with zip tops, lol. What's really great about making your own emergency food is that you can choose what you put into it! Great for people with food allergies, health issues, or just plain picky eaters (like I have in my house, lol). Thank you for subbing 😊. Take care, and God bless!

    Really great ideas! How long will these items last before you have to open and use the contents? Will the crackers last longer this way or is it the normal allotted time? That is the only thing that I see that will spoil the fastest. I once had a uneaten pop tart that I had stored in a baggie (fell out of my beach bag into a trunk ) for 8 months in the Ga. sun. It still looked the exact same.

    • @ChristianPrepperGal
      @ChristianPrepperGal  4 роки тому +1

      In all honesty I am not sure how long each product used will last. I would recommend updating and repacking the contents at least yearly. But, of course that would depend on the actual contents used. I know that vacuum sealing will help food last beyond the best buy dates, but again, how long is dependant upon the type of food...such as the crackers and Slim Jim's, I'm sure those would go rancid before the others in this instance. Thanks for your question, I hope I've helped you 🙂. Thanks for watching! God bless!

    Where do you get the bags like the one you put all of your bags into? What is it called? (Zipper on one end and you seal the other end when bag is loaded.) Thanks, Lynda

      Hi Lynda! I got them on Amazon. They are just called Zipper Vacuum Sealer Bags. Here's a link to the ones I buy that are gallon sized, they do have 3 sizes to choose from: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077ZJJB8G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    To veganize this for veg people do vegan pop tarts without frosting. Pb packets. Crackers. CLIF bars or go macro bars, oatmeal, vegan protein shake or powder.

    Can your cut off the bottom of the zip-lock bag and reseal to use again? Hope that made sense. You make it look so easy!!!! I always get lost trying to think of things. How many of these do you make up at a time? How many would you put in your BOB? I live in a very cold and snowy place with temps in the winter staying in the negatives a lot of the time. Do you have any ideas of ways to heat up frozen water? Say if you got stuck in the snow and had to spend a day or two in the car. Thanks

    • @ChristianPrepperGal
      @ChristianPrepperGal  5 років тому +1

      Hi Kristi! Thanks for watching 😊. Yes, you can cut off the bottom of the zip lock bag and re-seal it as long as it hasn't developed any tiny holes or anything.
      I usually make up 4 of these at a time, one for each household member. As far as how many I would put in my BOB, I would put as many as I can get! I haven't begun to fill up our BOBs with these yet, so I don't really know how many will actually fit. It will depend upon how much other stuff you have in your BOB. I am considering having separate backpacks or some type of bags to carry these meals in for each of us though, since they don't weigh much, they could be carried by hand and not weigh a person down too much.
      I too live in cold, snowy winter weather here in the upper Midwest. I would suggest a small portable camp stove (with fuel) to keep in your car for winter, along with an aluminum cup. You can get folding stoves at Walmart and fuel packets for them at a very reasonable price. They actually fold up into a flat square. That's what I would use if I went anywhere other than local in the winter. They are great for backups in the BOB also, as they weigh so little and take up little space. It's always good to have a backup or two. Oh, and don't forget to have a good lighter in the car to light the stove with.
      Again, thanks for watching. I hope the video and my answers to your questions have helped you.
      Take care & God bless,
      Joy

    Love this idea much more than prepping with the MRE's that I have been purchasing. I especially like the idea of having a pack to hand out to family members that include all their daily meal rations that they can choose to eat when they are hungry or snacky rather than a schedule that might be hard to maintain in a SHTF scenario. I have some great ideas that have spun off of your initial idea that I am going to put into practice here. 6 cases of MRE's are approximately the same price with shipping etc for the same amount of packs as making my own. The biggest difference however is an MRE offers the consumer 1 meal plan, whereas the 24 hour pack is 3 meals plus snacks. Brillant !!
    I do have a question though. I have searched Amazon.com high and low for the particular bags you are using and have not been able to find them. Could you please share your source for your Mylar bags/sizes so that we can use them as well. Thanks so much in advance. P.S. wish you were one of my neighbors so we could collaborate and join together as a community of like-minded preppers. None of my neighbors are prepping and think I'm eccentric for doing so. Oh well

      Thank you! I'm glad the video was helpful. Making my own MREs has saved me a lot of money also, and a lot of hassle as well. I have very picky eaters to provide for, lol. Plus, the nutritional value is so much better than the commercially prepared ones! I agree, it would be so nice to have like-minded preppers living nearby. I don't have any neighbors on board either. Hopefully some day (before it's too late) your neighbors will see that you are actually being wise and will follow your footsteps in prepping. I do pray that they will.

    Looks great you did a fantastic job. Have you thought about putting oxygen absorbers in there?

    • @ChristianPrepperGal
      @ChristianPrepperGal  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I hadn't really thought about it since the vacuum sealer removes the oxygen. But, it wouldn't hurt to put one in, just as an added measure of safety, if one wanted to though. Kind of like when I first started vacuum sealing my dehydrated foods in mason jars...I would throw an oxygen absorber in "just to be sure" it was working properly. Good suggestion 🙂. God bless!
