You did some research/homework on this mre !!
Thnxs for uploading and sharing this info
👍🏻🇺🇸💯
Thanks!
Much better idea to choose items that you know you will eat.
The lemon pepper tuna creations are fire!
On point! Well done concept and thank you for sharing the links.
I like this cool project. Thanks for sharing it!
Blimey Cool! Thank you for sharing!
Excellent video.
Great video , great idea. Some technology is developed first in the military and then trickles down to the civilian commercial Market. Think GPS, night vision Etc. However, If you study the history of military rations one thing becomes apparent. Commercial food preparation preservation and packaging techniques have generally been ahead and every so often the military decides to update to take advantage of the technology from the civilian sector. The ideas Illustrated here will go a long way to filling the role of the MRE for a fraction of the cost! It's really got everything going for it. Useful, affordable, easy to do and fun!
Lot of stuff good job
Good Job.
Nice!!
I'm not understanding the tortillas I get that they're tortillas but how long would they last being vacuum sealed
The Propel Fitness Water is about the only drink mix out there with no phenylalanine. You don’t want phenylalanine in your body. It’s a great choice to flavor your water.
👍🏻👍🏻
Have you checked into Isagenix amped hydrate? They have 4 flavors
Thanks for the great video, can you please share with me the cost of this specific DIY MRE (with it's contents) ?
Good Afternoon, thank you for sharing your home made 24 hours ration. What do you estimate the cost? Thank you 🙏🏼👍🏼
Bro it’s in a plastic bag
Shop at Walmart or Superstore.
@@julioalexpranks7600 They *all* come in plastic bags
Hello all - quick question: Has anyone converted the ingredients for the UK? (Thought I'd ask before I start tracking down British equivalents myself.) Excellent video, very informative. Thank you.
What do you need converted? A single size bag of nuts , a bag of tuna?
The cost of three of the MRE sandwiches on your link, make this very expensive. The moment you added an MRE component to this, I think you made this cost prohibitive, when compared to actual MRE's.
amazon is charging $22 for 3 of the sandwiches in this mre. I found a website today that sells 12 whole full meal mre's for $10 each that is with the heater bag. Paying $22 for 3 sandwiches is way out of my price range and the shelf life isn't long enough to pay that much
@@bc24roxy4 Last year a package of two Bridgfords would have cost you $5.99. Not his fault you are too late.
@@donaldleggettThanks. Good point. I shouldve done more research before commenting. I found just the sandwiches at Sportsmans for $5.99 for package of 2
Subbed!
Those instant oatmeal packs are breathable, I would not include them, they will most likely get hard and mold. Also you should add silica packs in the tortilla bag. Good video tho !
other that the oat meal not being quite appropriate for a FSR not bad
Yeah, catch 22, but something for a breakfast
What is the total calories for the contents ? I would also add coffee, sugar & tea bags as these comfort items are a great morale booster. I would add some FREE condiments like you get from coffee shops & a few serviettes (napkins for the Americans) which could be used as a Toilet Pater after that potent food LOL. Add some hard boiled lollies (candy in USA) to give you a sugar hit as you move.
You keep your brew kit separate and close.
Do the envelopes of oatmeal contain powdered milk?
With that brand you just add hot water and it makes a emulsion, no milk at all.
What kind of shelf life do you think can be achieved?
My personal estimate is a year, helped by the vacuum bagging.
What’s the expectancy of the tortillas? I can’t imagine they store very long
Could throw a moisture and oxygen absorbers in the pouch after vacuum sealing it and it should last longer but honestly I'd bank on having to throw them in the oven/heat them some way once I need to open the MRE year or two later.
For this reason alone I'd suggest swapping out the tortilla with crackers which are more shelf stable and same effect.
Exactly, fat content so will tend to go rancid. Better would be some durable crackers. Overall a good kit though, something to keep in your get home bag, vehicle, B.O.B., etc.
i have a question, how long will the tortilla last like that?
Honestly, same concept for military MREs, and their in just about every pack. They last for years. You can put an oxygen absorber in them if you too concerned. But they will be good for a few years at least. I've eaten them over 4 years old, no problem.
Great video. What is the weight of the 24hr. MRE?
My guesstimate is two pounds
@@danpass12 Military MRE was 3lbs for 3 meals, so that is a 1lb savings.
3 year long if need
Please add a nail clipper....
Seems a lot like a First Strike Ration. Not that that's a bad thing....
3,300
Please increase your audio. I can barely hear you with everything turned up!
No salt or pepper packets?!
Or plastic cutlery?
I forgot to add the Cholula hot sauce packets :) (Amazon source) and, yeah, a spoon and at least one full size paper towel
Where's the creamer and sugar?
What is the point of vaccum sealing already sealed food?
Space saving, compresses it. We used to do the same with MRE contents because the MRE pack is quite bulky in the ruck or in the butt pack. Fits better in BDU pockets too.
I feel like it would be less of a hassle to buy an mre
Damn bro ur calorie intake is 3,332 calories?
Thats why he is so chubby!
@@MichaelGittel lol his mre has more candy than actual food lol.
Expensive?
Mike Sain
The really good Trail Butter can be pricy
Good video, but I can't hear anything.
if you had enough water, the pack would last for months...hat off good sir.
You should put toothpicks and some nail clippers in there. I'm sure you could use both! Nice video
"Servings" is a completely meaningless measurement.
Yeah, I know. How many servings in a 12 pack of Eggo Waffles? One.
But servings do provide some context :D
Raid kids school snacks. Check
Judging by the way you are breathing you should probably try putting fat free stuff in it
It's a diabetes MRE , menu :D:
This is cool for a video, but realistically, it's economically and laboriously not practical.
Dude who are you feeding? Like no offense to you this is pretty cool but holy shit that's a lot of food usually in a normal day of working outdoors camping or hunting or what have you I usually take some coffee, 2 cups of rice, 2 fat cubes, 2 cups of mixed nuts and a power bar per day and I'm all set. To be fair I am 18 and like 130 pounds but I have a really high metabolism and that usually covers me for a day and I don't mean like keeps me alive like I get full
