I love this - they are so unapologetically irreverent. I totally understand why Page hated these things. And Robert is still the frontman - isn't he.
Robert is probably more diplomatic than Jimmy.
Robert is the extrovert, and Jimmy is perfectly fine not being bothered with it all, and just dealing with the more direct quesitons.
Page's gift is creating and playing music, but not "explaining it."

I do know as far as Robert carrying most of the conversation. Jimmy did NOT like talking to the press he said in one interview he is very shy when talking to the press. Plus you sometimes can hear Robert look over at Jimmy and say "you are going to talk too ya know".... so Robert encouraged Jimmy but regardless I agree Robert does chitchat lots and he is so freaking SMART!!!
Smart? He has classic British wit coupled with one hell of an ego / arrogance. But between the two of them Page is actually smarter.

If you listen to Robert Plant now, he is older and wiser since this interview. Not to mention the wealth of music he has made since 1994. I think the best thing Robert has done is to make his own brand of him, the singer and writer and leaving Zep in the dust. He is always looking forward and when he does go back to the other guys in Zep, it always seems to bite him because the press wants a Zep reunion. We had Zep. Carry on.

Jimmy Paige thank God he is one of the best guitarists there is because he hardly smiles ans always so serious. Robert Plant he is hilarious. A jokester with the crowd. I bet they feel comfortable around him. He is a people person and funny personality. Never says anything bad about anyone. Greatest guy

Jimmy is very shy and he does not like to be interviewed, he loves to play and study. And Robert loves to talk , to explain their career much better than Jimmy. Robert has a great sense of humour, a real funny guy and a gorgeous clown!

I have seen this interview at least 100 times and it is hilarious, even though I get pissed at the media and their moronic questions. The language Jimmy and Bobby use is so very brilliant! Also, Jimmy changes the footage all the time on everything he and "Robert" do. Bobby is different when he is not being "Robert", and so is Jimmy.

I don't what it was about the nineties but Robert Plant is pretty hot here (see Australian interview the same year and other clips). I'm also amazed by how tall he is. It's something I didn't think about when he was onstage but, this is what 6'1" looks like ladies and gentlemen. Anyway, it's obvious Robert does about 90% of the talking but, being the frontman of a powerhouse rock band, you have to have some degree of comfort with putting yourself out there. It doesn't bother me because he funnier than I expected, keeps the conversation moving and doesn't say anything cringeworthy or stupid, thank you! I'm just surprised a little how shy Jimmy Page is. For me the irony is that Jimmy Page has this reputation of being a ladies' man and he's shy and wears his shirts buttoned-up to his neck. While Robert Plant, a married man, during the early days of Led Zeppelin, wears shirts the size of little girl's shrug, open and struts around onstage. But, if you're into astrology, Jimmy Page is a Capricorn, which is the sign of workaholics and practical people. And, Robert Plant is a Leo, who tend to be natural leaders and showmen. The ironies of life!
But Plant probably fooled around on his wife back then, I'm sure.
I saw him a number of times from 1990-1994, including up close. I didn't appreciate how gorgeous he was back then, probably because I was very young.

Other front men have succeded without being arrogant and having a huge ego. David Coverdale is one of those performers
he's mellowed a lot with age too. i think he chilled out quite a bit and i love listening to him now

yes, plant is arrogant, but he does a good job of carrying the interview with his personality. They are both very British in their own way. Plant will talk about anything; Page is more comfortable just talking MUSIC.

Imagine getting this much attention all the live long day lol I think I would welcome a glass of something strong to blur all those flashing cameras but Jimmy and Robert are as cool as can be, as if they have never allowed their heads to spin around.
Thanks for this Mark Zep. I think I remember a cut down version of this interview it was titled page and plant get pissy with journalists or something, was like a 3 minute thing and they made it look like Planty was being a cunt, I know it was this one cuz of the yellow flower and that zen sign (or whatever he is doing) he does with it. I remember thinking wow that's probably the only time Ive seen him be like that but then you watch this in context and he's cool. Dropping lyrical shit here n there, maybe slightly grumpy that day but overall as always, a gentleman. And real. That's why I like Planty, he's real.
I love Jimmy’s face after Robert says “Jim went to the toilet for ages.” He looks pissed.
I also love Jimmy's reply, "I'm surprised you noticed, Robert." Translation, I'm surprised you're aware anyone else, you pompous ass. At least that's how I hear it, words and tone. It's of the few times I've seen or heard Jimmy really get pissed. Funny :)

I just think may be deep down after the fact they thought about JPJ! I think Jonesy was upset for not being included but they obviously made up after that and had a great couple of concerts with them all except Bono of course but then they added Jason Bonham, which turned out to be incredibly epic, so in the end they were all friends who r all still making new music and playing a bit of their own!❤

Interesting at the end, Robert Plant shot off and Jimmy Page stayed behind smiling at the cameras - unexpected for someone who doesn't seem to enjoy interviews much at this stage of his career.

Porque são sempre as mesmas perguntas a vida inteira no mundo inteiro e a maioria das perguntas são ridículas. E os repórteres se metem na vida íntima e privada deles. E eles ficam de saco cheios doidos pra acabar logo e ir embora pro hotel descansar ou sair pra passear ou pra outros compromissos. Como eles são mto educados e gentis acabam cedendo e ficando até o fim. Mas fazem caretas, palhaçadas, conversam entre si, joga as perguntas um pro outro, pede água e cerveja pra relaxar e descontrair, brincam com as perguntas, fumam e fazem palhaçadas. Doidos pra acabar logo!
My opinion only but I think that JPJ was NOT some big party guy and he seemed to of kept it together with his wife and children as far as not hanging with groupies, etc... I don't think he partied like Robert and Jimmy did and let's face it - the longer I live the more I do realize that the saying of "two's company - three is a crowd." I see that everywhere. JPJ ALWAYS seemed to be completely straight while playing on stage with these guys and on any interview I have ever watched of all of these guys. Opinion only though. JPJ is AWESOME though. Unrated for sure.
JPJ always kept a low profile. As Plant once remarked, he could leave the hotel and people woudn't recognize him, but if Plant or Page or even Bonham tried to leave the hotel they would be bombarded by people.
Nothing Page or Plant, or Page & Plant, have ever done, has ever eclipsed what was done with JPJ and Bonzo, who was the Heart & Soul of Led Zeppelin, imo.
I don't think either one likes doing interviews. Jimmy doesn't like to talk and Robert bolts from the room as quickly as possible when it ends. But it was still a good interview. They're both funny blokes.

The relationship is a very strange dynamic. Both of them with MONSTER egos, so it's probably a near miracle they get a long as well as they do.

Everyone knows you have to translate Bobby's words and sentences, most of the time because he and Jimmy loathe the bible, as it makes not a bit of sense to them, yet they know what is being written. If you do not translate Bobby's words, and Jimmy's as well, you will never understand what they are really saying.

Because Jimmy hates interviews! And he is very shy. Robert loves them nas he has a great sense of humour. He is very funny, a typical clown! And Robert loves to speak, to explain everythin with details. He is very intelligent, smart and humble guy!
I also find dotty tracks on the walls at times when other realms bleed through. Those dots are not very nice.
All those cameras! It’s very irritating! I feel sorry for musicians and celebrities because no one can handle that publicity full time🍸
