Robert Plant is such an amazing musician. The World was so enamored with Led Zeppelin that fans wouldn't give Robert a fair chance to really listen to what he is doing in the present. He does so much eclectic ideas and soul with his music and its brilliant. He writes great songs.
I could sit and listen to Robert talk all day, hinging on every word. It's amazing how down-to-earth he is after all this time...considering all he's seen and done over the years. A fascinating treasure of a man.
People of all ages know and love that voice and the emotion behind it. I am a big fan of everything he's done from Zep till now. I'm 60 now and will be listening to him when I'm very old, God willing.
Actually, history proves we shouldn't be all that surprised. I think it has something to do with genuine quality. It never fades, it never dies. I would be surprised if guys like Plant will be forgotten in a hundred years. Their music will still be appreciated. Cuz it's goooood.
Listening to Robert, you realize how intelligent and well travelled artists used to be. He was using words I've never even heard before, and even regular discussions paint landscapes. Listen to your typical singer today and half each sentence consists of "like" and "'n stuff...".
@@MatClassics : right! I can't follow Robert in so much of this discussion with half finished thoughts and sentences and "you know," "like" and "stuff." Don't know where the other posters got their ideas. But you can tell Plant is well-traveled and probaby well-read.
What a delight to come across this tonight! I'd never seen it before. I started listening to Led Zeppelin when I was 12/13ish. Later when my friends and I were in high school, a group of us would go to a movie theater that showed The Song Remains the Same at midnight on Saturday nights. It became the norm for us to crowd into an old station wagon to go and sing along to the music. Everyone in the theater memorized it and when John Bonham would say, "We've done four already, but now we're steady and then they went, 1. 2 , 3, 4." the entire theater crowd would shout along with him. It was great fun. At 17 I attended my first Robert Plant concert. It was the Principle of Moments tour. In my twenties, my first born grew up listening to both Zeppelin and Robert Plant's music. In my 30's, and two more babies later, Robert Plant's music (post Zeppelin) and Zeppelin were serenading our home quite often. A few more concerts over the years and now two grandchildren who also know his music, an almost 58 year old me, is still so intrigued by Mr. Robert Plant. There's such a whimsical, genuine depth to him that is lovely and entertaining to listen to. He and Allison Krauss will be playing near me soon and though I saw them their first time around in 2008, I am sorely disappointed that I cannot see them again this summer. They are just fantastic together. Everyone should experience one of his/their concerts at least once. - Thank you for this interview. It was a pleasure to watch.
Rae Ann Bonneville He’s a tall cool one. My daughter liked the new band that sounds like Zeppelin. Greta Van Fleet. I hate them. I played song remains the same for her and she dumped Greta Van Fleet like a bad boyfriend. She loves Robert Plant also. My 16 year old daughter is downloading Now and Zen. Lots of Zeppelin. Robert Plant is an intelligent guy. Far more knowledgable than anyone that has ever interviewed him. He was politely schooling Tom Power on some points about music. I met Robert. He is a gentleman and very sharp. After all that he has been through, it's still nice to see that he is well informed about the state of the world, politics and music and still has a good sense of humour. Very wise indeed!
He is a great singer, he's sharp and he surely has a good sense of humour, but it feels that when he releases an new album he "has a lot of explaining to do" and people hear "the flavors" in his music(jazz, blues, oriental, folk, etc) but not the lyrics and the songs?!
I have been in love with him and his music since I was 13 years old..I am now 54..Love how his music changes as he gets older and it just gets even better. I have every single album/CD. Can't wait for the next thing.
Saw Robert Plant at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium a couple of weeks ago. I can't believe that I actually was a little ambivalent when I was deciding whether or not to go. OMG .. I am so glad we attended. Robert and band were simply outstanding!!!!
Robert Plant is one of those very few musicians who could live outside the shadow of their past... It is not easy to be noticed as an individual when one has been in the greatest rock band in history... The other person i can think of is George Harisson.... RP not only made a place for himself but he constantly broke the boundaries... He has added new musical styles to his repertoire. This is most important...
