- Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones - the remaining members of Led Zeppelin - hold a press conference in London to launch their new concert film 'Celebration Day' - and to remember their historic gig at the O2 Arena in 2007, which honoured Ahmet Ertegün. This is the full, unedited version of the press conference which took place on September 21st, 2012.
I love Jimmy's facial expressions. He has no poker face - his face just puts his reactions right out there for all to see. It's so refreshing.
This is torturous for him.
The greatest band of all time.
5 years is 5 minutes in zeppelin time----JPJ
What impressed me most was how well the remaining members sounded after having not played together in so long. Like Cream's reunion in 2005, Page, Plant, and Jones prove that even though they may sound different than their early days, they can still summon up that special and seemingly undefinable thing that allows them to transcend what might otherwise seem like a banal and routine exercise in nostalgia.
JIMMY YOU BEAUTY
In any interview that Jimmy Page Ever did years ago till now he was always nervous. The only time he felt comfortable in a crowd was when he was onstage playing his guitar. LED ZEPPELIN is the GREATEST
My favorite moment of the interview comes at 30:09. Plants response to the "fixes" question is fantastic. Answered with his usual charisma and fire. Then add Page's explanation and Jones's glance. But I fully enjoyed the whole thing,. Such a great interview to wrap up this special concert. And very appropriate that the mighty Zeppelin go out in as only they could do with a "touch of class". One single concert, as apposed to most bands who go on and on with endless touring sometimes with only one or two original members. That's not Zeppelin's style. The incomparable chemistry in this band is such that when any one member is gone, the band should end. And the one exception of Jason, for one concert only, is appropriate. I am glad this concert footage now exists and as Page said (even though the reason for the concert had nothing to do with video) it is now part of the bands legacy.
the 'press' was terribly humourless ... the three of them are hilarious!
These guys are the best, there will never be another band like them. Jimmy is so incredibly articulate, intelligent, gentlemanly, whoa he is just as impressive speaking as he is on the guitar. The first time I heard him speak I was impressed, he comes across so incredibly dignified. Legends all of them. If I could go back in time my wish would be to see them perform live around '69, '70, '71
Plant and Page reply at 15:00 is exactly what music and life in general was like back then...and I still hold to it. I was there then and it's what we all felt about life.
16:45 hahaha its so funny you can tell jimmy and jonesy both think robert talks to much, and so does robert.
then at then 17:07 you can hear jimmy go ohhhhhh god lmao
he's a singer!
It’s like 3 high school kids who just smoked before class 🤣🤣🤣
Led Zeppelin has acheieved a great many things. It just so happened that with Bonham's death, Zeppelin was suddenly no more. They stopped making music and performing together which made this performance so special. I'm am 16 and my dream is to, one day see them perform together once more. I discovered their music too late and I was too young to see them at O2, I hope too see them generate music like they once did. Just once too here Rock N' Roll, because it's been a lonely lonely lonely time...
John Paul Jones looks so young. Ironocally, Robert who is the youngest seems to be the oldest.
I'd marry John! he's a quiet man, but when he speaks, he's hilarious and witty....humble....and can play any instrument...playing keyboard/organ/piano......and playing bass with his feet at the same time!....that's talent....absolute genius at his craft...as they all are....
Robert had two bad accidents and went through the death of his little boy.
Waiting to watch it with my buddy Tony over the holidays. We love Led Zeppelin. He saw them live. I saw Robert Plant with Band of Joy. He was fantastic and I'm sure I will love to see this DVD. Zeppelin lives on even after we are gone.
Jimmy page solos crowd my playlist, obsessed with watching genius.
Cheers to Led Zeppliin May we all find the stairway to you Music. Thanks for being part of my life. Much Love
jimmy page is the samurai of rock!!!!!
Samuraiguitart would agree to that too lol
LOL look at JPJ face at 6:36 straining to understand what the hell that guy was saying. That had me dying
They are still relevant even today given the popularity of groups like Kings of Leon, the Black Keys, Mumford and Sons, etc. What also added to the overall energy of the performance was the fact that they seemed to be generally happy and having fun while doing it.
It was so nice to see them together, smiling, and all, and other may disagree, I feel they were never better than this night
I love how dry John is ❤❤
9:48 - Jonesy nails the answer, the other 2 love it! In reality, they wanted to avoid talking about how long it took to fix and compile the concert from the original show and soundcheck films. Lots of editing and fixing.
Of course the music blows our minds, great as always; but for us ladies a double treat, Jimmy Paige is still without a doubt one of the mist beautiful men alive!! I love his white hair against his tan skin. The fact that their friendship has survived through all the "crap" of the music industry, & with the exception of losing John they have remained in tact.
It’s spelled P A G E.. no ‘I’ 🙄
Just saw Robert in Atlanta last weekend, and I say him last year in Birmingham, Alabama. He sounded and looked fantastic. In fact, he sounded better than when I first saw him in 1989 in South Carolina! Great artists, all of them, and I still hope they do one more tour and come to the US! Never saw Page or JPJ live and I would sell my soul to see Les Zeppelin live. (Joking about the soul; someone had to mention it. ;-)
Tricky311 who the hell are Les Zeppelin?
14:25 Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only Jimmy Page
lmao
Hahahaha.... XD
“ello anna” 😍
I love to listen to them !!! So funny. They sure had fun time in the younger years !!!☕🎤🎼🎵🎶🇬🇧🇺🇸❤🌎✌🌞🍄 thank you guys !!!
Jimmy Page is so awesome! Gorgeous. Even love his speaking voice! Hot damn
Wonderful!!!! It's great to see them. LED ZEPELLIN!!!!!!!!!
amazing thank you!!!
God, I love these guys.
I was there and they kicked ass....
I also think Jason Bonham added a certain intensity that was absent when, for instance, the played together with Phil Collins and Tony Thompson in their less than memorable set at Live Aid in 85'. Job well done, boys!
No band is better at not talking about things they don't wanna talk about than these guys.
I wonder if any of them know just how much they were apart of our lives.
Thanks for putting this up!!
I kinda feel like they were stopped while talking about something to move to the next question... I kinda wish they let them carry on, it's very interesting.
Its true for drummers too. My brother is a drummer , and I always suggest to him that he sit on his hands when he 's is nt at his kit , because he is constantly tapping something or fidgeting around soeme how. Being a guitarist I couldnt imagine any set of circumstances other than playing , where I could be comfortable standing in front of a crowd .
I'm so tired of hearing about the "allegations", if that's the case then most artist are thieves. Most music is expressed from personal experiences and what we as artist have been inspired by. Personal interpretation, sound, and creativity is what makes it original and Led Zeppelin was/is a great example of that great creative power.
The only downside was the fact that they didn't play longer but I was still very pleased with the variety of songs they offered. For me, they really hit their stride from 'In my Time of Dying' onward. Plant's voice, while different, still holds up well and the range that he has left is still considerable when compared to other singers today.
These guys are gold. I'm so excited for the movie :)
that is the living holy trinity.
it would have been 4 but Rest in Peace Bonzo :((
saludos desde san luis potosi mexico lo mejor del rock and roll
a concert with robert, jp, jpj, and jason would be so unreal
This is a song of Hope!
Can't wait to see the movie concert!
Blues may be what seduced Jimmy page to learning/playing guitar, but Jimmy Page is what seduced ME to learning to play guitar!
I AM IMPRESSED TO SEE THE WAY YOU THREE STILL GET ALONG, HOW I HAD WANTED TO ONE SAY SING WITH ROBERT IN PERSON, ALAS, ALL WORKS OUT IN THE END, IF ONLY YOU KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW, LOVE....
DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT DISLIKE THIS VIDEO
Having seen some of the 'bootlegged' versions of this concert on youtube, it appears that any 'fixing', altering, or remastering of the concert was minimal and in keeping with what most, if not all, bands and individuals do to enhance the quality of their presentation and performance when they release a dvd or cd recording. I was not one of the lucky few to attend the actual performance in London in 2007, but I did see the film last week and can only applaud their efforts.
"Maybe I felt a little differently about the lyrics down the road"
Stairway To Heaven: "And as we wind on down the road..."
16:52
John Paul Jones looks great. Love you Robert Plant.
I say: Thank you... nothing else
I love Jonesy so much
They all seem so uncomfortable.
Particularly for Plant who seems to have better things on his mind.
This is now how these legends deal with the new world media of interviews that they know will go viral.
The French reporter sums it up when he asks if they were "Happy" with Jason's "drummings"?
What did he expect them to say?..... "No he sucked. But we couldn't get anyone else."
They don’t like each other. I don’t care what they say.
@@heywoodjablowme5834 geniuses always seem uncomfortable during interviews
get along I don’t blame them for being pissed at Plant for not doing more shows.
@@heywoodjablowme5834 Plant happens to be right. He realizes that no john bonham equals no zeppelin. I just wish people would realize that they aren't young anymore and it's over. Let's not degrade their legacy by making these old men perform just for the sake of doing it before they die. By the way, if they had not liked each other, they could never had lasted 12 years together.
get along so if they toured you wouldn’t go ?
Both figuratively AND literally!!!!!
RESPECT
It's really fantastic seeing them together again. Will they be touring again?
& Big great voice......!!!
27:44 Look at Page.
.. the best comment thus far.. i wonder if he knew how Robert was going to speak ( about this band going back out).
JPJ cracks me up. He seems like such a space cadet...really having no interest in answering questions. Just not his bag. Overall, though, they seem to be enjoying themselves, which is great to see. And as exciting as this release is, I am extremely disappointed that they completely dissed anything from In Through the Outdoor. Why didn't someone at the press conference ask "why didn't you play anything from ITtOD??" Something obscure, like Carouselambra, South Bound Saurez, or I'm Gonna Crawl!
Thanks, Tony, i just listened to both versions. Yes, there are similarities, the bass line, a little of the melody, the lyrics are different. I must say LZ's version is absolutely phenomenal compared to Jake Holmes original. Still, there is no argument here in regards to the basic similarities.
I wish I was there!!!
Hopefully they'll do another show or maybe even a tour. Let's face it they are getting along in their years and none of us know when our time is up.
They wont do another show
you only get this group of guys on stage so many times together for interviews. Knowing this, I laugh at the terrible questions people had for them. "did you recognize people in the crowd?" c'mon
Actually yeah, I got this impression too. All the time you had Jimmy & Robert laughing and answering questions and you had the forgotten Jonesy at the side.
They are so different
And not childhood friends either. Plant is a Lion, Jones a Capricorn. Nothing commun, but music. And what music ! I love them.
Legends & British
I think....."They are the father of heavy metal......love zeppelin! Peace & Love from INDONESIA. ^_^
10:02 I'm guessing Jimmy Page is whispering: ''I don't understand him.'' Could it be that because he talks with a Dutch accent Jimmy could not understand him?
Who wouldn't want to get woken up by Robert Plant?
30.15 what a fucking cheek...we are perfect! You tell the dago Robert.
25:35 How he's looking at Jimmy Page like, did you understand anything of that? xD
minute 6:24 Jimmy saying to Robert: Phil Spector!
and then they laughing... hahahahahahaha
Poor John Paul barely gets recognition :(
I hope it comes to being.
yeah, that's adorable :)
Ramble on
Like watching museum pieces or Rock and Roll relics
just watched Mr. Pages 2010 day of peace award, utube, lets do it again on a global level, if not together in the spirit....I think we can
JpJ is actually in this like the coolest dude ever if you know LZ 😆
Jimmy looking at is watch! Like... How much longer will this last? LOL
god audience pick it up a notch. you're in the presence of earthly Gods. such sinister, serious questions. ;/
I had a bit of a chuckle at 6:20 when Jimmy leans in to whisper to Robert "Phil Spector" Maybe the guy with the question had a similar look.
DAY, HA! TO CELEBRATE I DO, TODAY, HA!
He feels fine..
so. god. damn. lucky.
@Paula Hevia watch what you say on here.
30:24 Plant is fucking hilarious!!!
id rather they make a studio album.any way they want to make it zeppelin or not they make such great music together!
Anility!
Dumb questions but unfortunately these press conferences are a necessary evil. I was hoping for the comment on whether or not the concert tape was "fixed", however and did get my answer. Disappointing to know that Jimmy did "minimal" retouching to it, so I guess I will be keeping my bootleg CD of the show. Saying that it is still awesome that it finally does get released "officially". Led Zeppelin IS "The Greatest Rock and Roll band" EVER!
There's never been a released concert that hasn't been tweaked. You obviously didn't notice since you have the bootleg as well...
Tantas palabras de sus memorias y sobre lo bueno que fueron....¿Por que no hacer una gira juntos y darle a sus fanaticos jovenes y viejos lo que han espero de por vida?.. Ojala juntos compartieran su talento con el mundo...
I'm amazed at some of the dumb questions and comments coming from the press, who are supposed to be so professional.
I didn't recognize Plant. Stunningly changed since just a few years ago. What is it?
Me neither. He was so perfect. Now he looks out the oldest. But he don't care, seemingly.
He is 38% Lion as well.
Jimmy Barnes at 17 minutes, right?
18.40 Polskie Radio !!!
I agree ......back then they all played with one another not like today's music at all.
Because he's not so well known as the two other.Discreet. Indispensable but rarely in the light. And such a normal life : always with the same wife.
I actually think most of the questions are pretty good...there are a couple here and there where they may seem a little annoyed but overall, I think think there are good questions that for the most part, they answer well. They do blow-off the CNN guy though!
This show has been shown and has been around in the bootleg market since '07. I have a full mutli-camera copy. At least five camera mix. No different than this money making scam. Either do a tour. Or get out of the game. A movie. The age of you-tube and every other video outlet. It is not as if this has not been seen in great quality before. I am sure I am not the only one with this full five cam and incredible sound version. I am glad I wont have to pay for it. I spent enough on this band.
Robert Plant has a BIG HEAD.
Yeah......and his guitars as a knight.......!!!
