Everything You Need To Know About Buying Salad Dressing At The Grocery Store

  • We're back at the grocery store checking out all of the options for salad dressing. I am sorry to say, that most of the salad dressings at the store are full of garbage and stuff you want to stay away from, it's really sad. Why they feel the need to use heavily processed canola oil and soybean oils, tons of sugar and salt, and preservatives amazes me. Just use good quality ingredients and charge a little extra, come on! I really like primal kitchen and chosen foods, the ingredients are clean, the flavor is great, and they have many varieties. Unfortunately it a bit expensive. Let us know what aisle to review next! Mad love Bobby...Dessi...and Art! XOXO
Order our new keto cookbook: amzn.to/2TOHWJL
My fav salad dressing brands...if you're not going to make your own:
Primal kitchen: High quality avocado oil, no sugar, keto, paleo, & whole30 approved
Chosen foods: Avocado oil, clean ingredients, same as primal
Bragg vinaigrette: Only brand using extra virgin olive oil, barely any salt, amazing ingredients
I like these brands, but they could do a bit better:
Organic girl: Wish they used the same oils as above and not so keen on agave nectar bc it's high in fructose
Tessemae’s: Great ingredients, but why can't you use avo oil or EVOO!?
Annie's organic: Could use better oil and wish they did not use cane sugar
Bolthouse organic: How this one is so much better than the standard one is wrong..so so wrong.
Daiya: Don't love it, but it passes my test
O'dang hummus dressing: wish it had organic chickpeas, they do use EVOO, but one flavor had carrageenan
Avoid fat free dressings like Walden farms, they are loaded with emulsifiers, preservatives, and splenda sugar...Barf!
Stay away from these brands and any that use canola or soybean oil, unless they are expeller pressed and non-gmo.(but you can still do much better)
    Hidden valley
    Kraft anything
    Brianna's
    Wishbone
    Marzetti
    Ken's
    Newman's own
    Marie's
    You get the idea...

    Processed food
    Refined sugar
    Refined salt
    Processed oils
Buy from the inner part of the store. Chemicals are in all man made foods.
    None are heathy
But most people think it's ok, because it reads as more healthy ingredients

Here’s one of those items (salad dressings) that the “Bobby Approved” just simply tastes awful. I bought the Primal Kitchen Green Goddess….ew! And then it doesn’t pour out of the bottle. You have to use a knife to get it out of the bottle. I also tried the same brand in barbecue sauce …terrible. I stick to the “Unapproved Bobby” salad dressings.

Bobby quick question. Do you know why those dressing are typically three times the cost of the poor ones. Seems like simple ingredients should be easier and cheaper to put together.

How much people read the labels or even understand them? People go either with the cheapest or choose a Brand or maybe what they think is healthy like "fat free". But if only hardcore Keto fans understand the health benefits of your product it gets hard to convince a grocery store to even list your products. If you don't have as much sales you at least better have a product with decent enough margins.

It is best to make dressings yourself. You just need a mason jar to shake and store the dressing and some base ingredients. If you have some oil, vinegar, mustard, honey, lemon, yogurt, cream cheese, chives, dill, parsley, salt and pepper, you can make some great dressings. You can step up your game and use different types of oil, vinegar and mustard or use some blue cheese. You can also switch out the citrus. Yust throw the ingredients together in the mason jar shake it up and your dressing is ready. Most hold for atleast a week if you put them in the fridge. Just shake them up again before you use them.

@@Kolian1274 For an easy vinaigrette use 8 Tbsp oil, 4 Tbsp vinegar, 1 Tbsp mustard, 1 Tbsp honey and salt and pepper to taste. If you up the honey and mustard content you got a honey mustard dressing.
You can take the basic two to one ratio of oil to vinegar/accid (also lemon etc.) and add most other ingredients to taste. If you use ingredients like yogurt or cream cheese, which balance out the acidity I would recommend to change the oil to vinegar ratio to 3 to 2 or even 1 to 1. It depends on how much yogurt/ cream cheese you use. Herbs, spices, garlic, onion, and the types of vinegar and oil you use are all pretty much up to taste.

    1. Your list is my new idea list for shopping! 2. Your comments have me reading labels again. Why not talk about each of those ingredients in a general sense so I can be an educated shopper at the ingredient -- not just the brand -- level. 3. Thanks for telling use about synthetic monosodium glutamate vs natural. It causes me health complications and insomnia. I've read that it's masked under several other ingredient names on labels. 4. Big round of applause for all of these videos!!! Thank you, keep up the good work, I think you attempts to fly under the radar at these stores is a hilarious subtext, very entertaining.

"If you can't read it, you shouldn't eat it" is nonsense.
Also "Manmade MSG is bad, it can cause bad reactions" is absolutely false. No studies have validated that MSG is bad for you.

Based on your recommendation, I tried the Primal Kitchen (Green Goddess) which was $7.99 at Publix in South Florida, March 2024. The consistency was good but the lingering aftertaste of tarragon was pretty nasty. Maybe I'll try another variation of it but at $8 a jar, that's an expensive taste test.

I want to know about buying flour for my baking what is the best

    • @BobbyParrish
      @BobbyParrish  5 років тому

Hard to say - depends on what you're baking. First off, since this is a baking specific question, I assume you're not trying to stay keto in this question? There's not really a "one best" flour - even if you're talking about "all purpose" flour. The different brands of AP flour tend to be better in some applications than in others. And then there's cake flour.....

@flavcity, bro i love your page but GMO is nothign bad at all, there is no evidence to show gmo soy or any gmo product is bad for you. Pretty much all the fruit and veges you are currently eating are genetically engineered. Banana's apples, sweetcorn all engineered and i bet you eat those. Not hating i love your page but this anti GMO stance is silly

Every time you review a bottle of dressing you always want olive oil in there. So why not just put olive oil and vinegar on your salad? You can avoid all those other sugars and gnarly ass ingredients. I wouldn’t mess around with any of that stuff. I went back-and-forth on all those bottle dressings and I always go back to olive oil and vinegar.. Plus it’s the cheapest most economical on your pocketbook. Olive oil and vinegar is the best salad dressing hands-down Drop the Mic.
