  • 8 DIY Salad Dressings - Quick, Simple, Healthy and Delicious
    Hey Friends! I have 8 homemade dressings for you today. Warm weather is here and the garden is producing. Its time to shift our meals to things a bit lighter and more refreshing. Naturally salads fall into that category as well as throwing some marinated meat on the grill and plates of fresh veggies and dip for snacks. I like to make our dressings here at home so I can control the ingredients and save some money. These recipes are easy, quick, nutritious and delicious. I hope you'll try them!
    Thanks for watching,
    Kelsey

    Thank you for this. I know it is so easy to make up dressings but quite often I can't find it in me to make them because most of the time I end up making more than what I need for 1 serving. You saying to do a batch that can be kept certainly gave me that little kick on that backend of me I needed.

    I made my own Thousands Island dressing a few months ago. I loved it. One of those times when I had cooked corned beef and wanted to make Reubens with the left overs. It seems like when I buy Thousands Island dressing for this reason, I use it for Reubens but then I never use it after and it goes to waste. When I made it homemade it was so good that I used it on other things. As you said can do it to your taste and amount you want

    Awesome sauce! Steak, baked potatoes and salad for dinner tonight. I had mayonnaise I made earlier this week that needed to be used up so I make thousand island dressing. I used seafood cocktail sauce instead of ketchup because it’s what I had and it adds a little zip to your dressing. It is so yummy.

    to make that fruit (blueberry) dressing, you could just throw the blueberries in a vitamix, to liquify them, then pop it back into the massioairy jar, and add the rest of the ingredients. ;)

    It’s salad season here too! Thank you for the dressing inspiration!
    This time of year, I love dehydrating or freeze drying garden herbs which I then make into seasoning mixes and homemade ranch dressing mix and things like that. This makes it so my kids can whip up a batch of dressing and most of the work is already done. Chive salt has been popular here for on top of potato pancakes and eggs and a myriad of other things.
    I love your channel and appreciate your calm spirit. 💗

    I have been making a my salad dressings and marinades for awhile but these are some fun new ones I will have to try soon. I am currently out of apple cider vinegar. I made pineapple vinegar from scraps which has been amazing to use. I have a bunch of red wine vinegar to use up which has been sitting because I guess I never reach for. I had a orange champagne vinegar which was a favorite but it was discontinued. I think the vinegars make so many versions of these dressings. My biggest problem is we like creamier salad dressing but don’t keep mayo on hand so I guess I am going to have to get some. Thanks for sharing!

    • @elysiana8889
      @elysiana8889 Рік тому

      Mayo is fairly easy to make yourself if you have eggs and oil on hand. Personally I prefer to use a more neutral oil when making mayo but you can totally use olive oil if you want.

    One thing I really appreciate is how she precisely measured most of her ingredients using the SWAG method! For anybody who doesn't know what the SWAG method is, it's, a "Scientific Wild Assed Guess", a pinch of this, a squeeze of that, a splash or 2 of something else! AND, it is perfect!
    (edit) I just noticed she didn't have a recipe for blue cheese dressing, which is my favorite salad dressing. I shut my brain off when she got to the ranch dressing recipe because my wife does not like blue cheese, anything! I want the ranch recipe because, while it's also a very good salad dressing, she will have a good ranch dressing for a dipping sauce when I make fried chicken tenders, which is what we both prefer for a dippin' sauce, it's pretty good on the fries also. I absolutely like ranch dressing, but, given my choice, for my salad dressing, I will always go for the blue cheese first.
