    Hey guys,
    I hope you enjoy this family vlog. Costco is a great option for bulk purchasing and you can save money from your grocery bill when you shop in large quantities.

    Awesome job you are doing Marina.
    Yeah Costco shopping is usually quite exhausting, have only done that shopping twice since we came.
    For bread, we buy in bulk from Nigerian baker beerain.ca/ and then store in the fridge but I bring out a loaf the night before its to be used so it stays soft. Sometimes, I microwave for 30secs...soft and yummy 😋
    So afang is my favourite soup, and edikainkong, I buy frozen afang from Safari African store and I also use spinach as waterleaf. For edikainkong, I use kale and spinach and yes I also do my bulk cooking only once in 2 weeks. Then for meat, we buy from a farm on the outskirts of town...goat meat, cow leg, pomo,heart,shaki,round about, sausage, minced beef, turkey, chicken and eggs at an amazing price. Budget of $200 to $250 buys me enough meat and eggs for 2 months(it's a lot, I had to buy a chest freezer to store them). I love fresh fish, I buy from Mrs Mary on McKercher drive. For me, we are a family of 5 and spend $400 to $600 on a normal month on food. We don't eat Canadian (except pizza on Sunday night, if you consider that as Canadian), our meal plan is all Naija recipe just like back home and the crew can eat for Africa!
    Keep doing what you do sis. Kudos. And God bless you!

      Please can I come and visit you, maybe I will like the afang that I didnt make. That Beerain bread is the real deal. Thank you very much for the detailed contribution.

      In Canada meat is generally cheaper when you buy a lot especially from the farm.
      Most times you can buy up to half of a cow or goat or even a whole one.
      If you buy from the store you’ll just spend so much money but again if it’s not something you do often you’re good. But if you’re trying to save costs it’s always cheaper to get to from the farm.
      The other thing I’ve seen people do is to share a goat with friends. So for example 2 - 4 friends can come together and agree to buy a full goat and spilt the costs. Most single people do this coz they probably don’t need that much meat and also coz meat in Canada is generally more expensive than chicken.

I have no intention of migrating to Canada but my family supported my younger brother who is single to relocate to Canada through the PR program about a year ago after he tried severally to get a good job in Nigeria. New subscriber. Love your fridge! And I love the tips from other commenters. Right now I'm about 40% and 60% (in my mind) on American cooking and Naija cooking. I shop for big or bulk items at Sam's Club, and smaller items at Walmart or HEB

    Wow that’s some huge grocery haul but I love that some of the items lasts for months.personally we don’t store bread in the freezer..We just try to eat it within the period it is still fresh.i love afang it is one of my best vegetable soup 😋.

      I resist the temptation to buy as we need because when we go to the store for bread, we end up with things we didnt plan, lolol.

    Maybe when you have the time, make a grocery shopping haul. We’d like to see the comparison of our regular naija products and the prices eg, milk, butter, cooking oil, etc.

    • @MARINAESIRI
      @MARINAESIRI  4 роки тому

      Got it. I will start with an african haul so it is easier to compare. Thanks for the suggestion.
