    Just picked one up at GC $200 off. My first "real" guitar. A huge upgrade from my 2 Squier Strats and it can do everything. It has some fret buzz on the G and a little fret sprout but it was brand new on the rack and can be fixed easily. It sounds great clean and killer with some high distortion. My next step is to get a Fender GTX50 for the huge library of sounds. Overall its amazing for the price and the wood is beautiful.

      Congrats on the new axe, the CR-6 is def a huge upgrade over a Squier strat. I've got a new review coming soon on a Schecter Reaper 6, and that's another great model I'd recommend checking out. It's a bit more than the CR-6 but also even better too. You can check out that guitar in action here, have a great weekend!

      Just got a gtx 100 it's worth the extra money because it's got the foot pedal for looping. Still all the other great features and sounds effects etc. Ton of different amp and cabinet choices as well. Best part is the fender tone app allows you to control and customize effects right from your phone which is way easier to see and use vs directly through the amp itself. Pretty sure you'll enjoy to the fullest. Congrats on the new are too.

      I got lucky and found a prototype cr-6 in the Reaper 6 sky burst finish but gloss instead of satin. gifted to a local guitar shop owner from the president of schecter. It has fishman fluence moderns and a hipshot bridge from the factory, literally one of a kind.

      Beware: I tried the CR-6 through the Boss Katana 50, which I owned and like (for a solid state, it's a great sounding and $ saving amp) and the CR-6 and Boss Kitana was NOT a good mix. The guitar sounded really thin, but the single coil option was not engaged. I've tried it with some other amp as well and even the guy next to me said it didn't sound good. HOWEVER, I plugged it into a Blackstar ht-40 Tube amp yesterday and was blown away at how articulate and clear and good the guitar sounded l, even when gain was turned up almost all the way up. Now I want to buy this guitar, but only if I own the blackstar ht-40 tube amp, which I plan on buying regardless of this guitar. So there is my opinion.

      @cas5950 2 роки тому

      Big no on the EMGs, I assume you're looking for more metal but commit to the apocalypse or go for fishman as a real upgrade. You'll have to carve some space in the body to actually put active pickups in.

    • @aminorerror
      @aminorerror  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and commenting, everything is more expensive right now it's crazy! What kind of tone are you going for? You mentioned a JEM, so I'm not sure any set of active pickups are going to get you that kind of tone. I'd recommend trying out a set a great set of passive pickups, maybe something by Dimarzio or Seymour Duncan. I don't really like any active pickup IMO, although Fishman Fluences have been a lot of peoples go to active pickups. I still find them a bit sterile and lifeless, especially if you're using a modeling amp. Sounds like from Zac's comment below that getting the active pups to fit won't be easy, sticking with passive pickups will be a lot easier to install. Best of luck!

      Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Omen Elite 6 but just a quick search, it looks like it's built to the same quality as the CR-6. It probably would come down to body wood types and which you prefer and cosmetically which you like more. All Schecter's I've tested has been great guitars, very well made and def deserving of their price tags. • @aminorerror
      @aminorerror  3 роки тому +1

      I believe the Schecter would be an improvement on what you have but I'd offer a word of caution. Any intermediate level guitar (anything less than a $1000 basically) is going to have budget tone woods, pickups and hardware. So yes, the CR-6 will most likely sound better, and play better than what you have right now but it's not going to be a pro guitar. What's the price on the CR-6? If you're looking used at one that looks like its in pretty nice shape and marked down then def go for it. If you're going brand new at full price, maybe pump the brakes, save up some more cash and then go for something like an entry level Kiesel, older Prestige Ibanez, or an older John Petrucci EBMM.
      Hope that helps, and if I haven't bugged you already, consider giving the channel a sub! I've got loads of great guitar content coming out pretty much each week.

      That's a pretty good price, I checked Reverb and couldn't find any used for cheaper so I'd say go for it! Just keep in mind the things I already said, but I think you'll be happy for now. And then maybe plan on saving up some cash in a year or two and step up to the big leagues with something like a Kiesel or Strandberg. Both of those brands are on the cutting edge of guitar technology IMO

      This is a solid guitar for the money (especially used) but it is setup for hard rock or metal primarily. IMO the voicing of the pickups especially are pretty aggressive but they would work for classic rock tones, you'd probably just have to tweak your amp a bit differently than what you're currently used to. Anyway, enough self promotion...I should have def included some clean tones in my demo, I'd say the pickups were more Les Paul like, but it does have a 5 way switch so you can get some split coil strat like tones happening. For the price, I think this guitar performs very well and you should be able to cover all of those genres. Obviously the quality of your amp you'd be running the guitar through will make a big difference too, the guitar really is only part of the equation.
