I repowered in 2020 with the Suzuki 250 SS on my 203 Champion 20 foot boat and is by far the best motor I have ever owned and I have owned all of the top brands. I now have 370 hrs on it with ZERO problems. I also run the 27 pitch Scorpion prop. Top end speed is 72 to 74 mph depending on fuel amount in the boat. I have thought about trading to a newer, but I really see no reason to do it.
Not sure what you ran before, I have a 2012 250SS with 1400 hours and just purchased a new 2023 250SS to repower, Great job on information put out, And yes fuel economy is extremely important. I average 2.5 MPG on a big 25 Ft.bay boat (Dargel 250 HDX Kat)
To the gear reduction you speak under the the powerhead for the drive shafts. On the 4.0 SS 250hp it’s 1.1. Btw hit the Zerk fitting where the shafts engagement. The gear reduction is like 1.2 or 1.23 on the 200SS.
I started with the Scorpion on my Nitro/Zuke rig, and it is the fastest prop. But the Nitro runs rough with the Scorpion, I found the Solas Lexor 4 blade (L4) gets much better stern lift and vastly improves rough water handling. Not sure how it would work with a Phoenix. Anyway, nice vid man.
Just my 2 cents: Motor is heavier because they probably reengineered the mounts to handle the weight change and load differences from 2 to 4 stroke so they don’t sheer off like the some other 4 strokes. Case in point would be the Wes Logan accident. Quality/safety over speed/cosmetics=Suzuki. That engine is pretty sick looking though.
My 2023 250ss engine has been nothing but problems. Since the 1st week I’ve owned engine randomly breaking down. Susuki could have made it right and replaced it but the dragged me dealer to dealer for a year. Made 30 200 mile round trips back and forth to dealers. Put me through hell. Definitely didn’t get what paid for. Thought I’d share my experience.
I turn a 28 scorpion on my Gator Trax Strike and empty I hit 76, 72-74 loaded. I agree about the big water, I ran my boat on Leech lake chasing smallies and muskie last year. I was out running the deep v guys with a smoother ride on days we should NOT have been out there. I just switched to to a SMG4 gauge and should have done it immediately upon getting the boat. I can touch 3-3.5 mpg at 50 mph with my Suzuki.
@@glenndaugherity6187 if I take it back up I will get a vid. I keep moving farther away from MN lol. I might have a vid somewhere of running across Milford lake in Kansas, that lake was always windy. I had a great video going until my go pro came off and is in the lake now
I like the Suzuki motor and am planning on repowering sooner rather than later. However, I know this is off topic but I saw you were wearing sunglasses over your eyeglasses. What brand of sunglasses were they and what tinted lenses do you use for fishing?
Currently the 225 is only available in mechanical shift. Suzuki hasn't updated that engine yet so no DF225A yet so it doesn't have some of the new features.
😂 Engineering background? In what? You say things like "irregardless" and state that "compressed air adds weight" to larger tires instead of just saying more rotational mass of a larger tire. I cant even finish this video...and i tried!! I trust the 'zuke brand but i cant take anything you say seriously with any degree of credit. Ill still drop a like though since you made me laugh a few times. 👍
I watched this video and confused that you stated how you hate how outboards with more electronics have issues but you're trying to sell this outboard that is digital
Suzuki motors are extremely quiet at all RPM ranges compared to other outboards. Definitely a pro!

What color is your 203? I would consider buying if you decided you want to sell
White hull with Burgandy cap. You might find it in my estate sale lol. @@brettherder3741
My 1998 champ 203 has a 225 optimax in it and I want a more reliable motor so I'm looking into Suzuki. They seem solid

Good analysis. "Irregardless" is not a word, btw. "Regardless" is sufficient.
"Irregardless" is a word, look it up.
You mentioned tuning other outboards. Suzuki can also be tuned?
Great job describing it!!!

You did a great job of getting me excited about owning one of these motors. Mine will power my Procat 240. Cheers!
People have no idea how good Suzuki are ...
Shhhhsh the price will go up

@waylonlevins what Nitro do you own? I'm considering a zuke on mine...
I have a Suzuki on my 2019 tuition ❤❤love it
Did you just big tires weigh more because of all the compressed air in them??? 😂🤣🤣🤣... Just crackin on you... Love your content
Glad I found your channel. How busy are you? Need to repower. Thinking 250.
Hey bro.. one question.. Do you know if I can put 2 engines of suzuki 250 kuro to 10 meters boat?
Can the secondary charge lead charge a 36v system? And does the 150hp have this option?
Thats not bad as far as speed. For as dependable as they are it might be a good trade.

Oakley - Color is low light brown
How much is a brand new one?
how much for 150 on a old ranger 362v 1995 I need a new one.
suzuki and honda need to step up in the bass boat market. G2 was awesome but is gone and more brands that "work" on bass boats are needed
I need one do y'all have it in a 225 ?

Heavy motor helps when running lithium batteries extra weight helps front end lift.
Being a little heavier may help with handling on that Phoenix, especially if you're running lithium's...from my experience anyway. 🤠
😂
