I own a Yamaha and love it, but I would not hesitate 1 second to buy and own a Suzuki. They are absolutely great motors. When I am in the gulf for winter ALL of the guys who go out every day, for a LIVING, are running Suzuki. I think that says a lot.
I know I’m late to the party on this video, but I’m glad I found it. I just blew up my 2008 250 HO (for the 2nd time) and I am thinking about repowering with a Suzuki. I would be on a 2008 Ranger 620, but appreciated the performance thoughts/details.
thanks! I have a 20 year old nitro but needs a new motor. I'm tired of bringing my boat into the shop more often then me being able to fish without any issues. I'm definitely ordering one
Double check the rigging on your throttle system to ensure you've got it wide open on full throttle; specifically, the adjustment on the HOTFOOT if you're running one. Those SOLAS Scorpions ROCK!
One thing for sure you’ll always get back to the dock unless you run out of gas. I have an 07 Z21 with just 160 something hours I bought it with 110. If I have to repower it will be a Suzuki for the very reasons you stated.
Hoping to buy a new BassCat Cougar hybrid next year. I'm considering the Suzuki. I keep hearing it is more "reliable" than the Merc. My concern is limited dealers in Texas near me. Not sure where I would take it IF I needed service.
Yea man lots of outside opinions on it being a super reliable. Most ocean dudes run them and they work motors way harder then us. Maybe a dealer near the coast of Texas?
Lots of ramps around. Parkway Marina, Start Park, Scruggs Rd, Anthony Ford, Penhook, Oak Grove and Magnums. Google those names and you'll get the addresses quick! Tight Lines.
I found this video after watching the other one you posted when you bought the motor. Are they still gonna get you the matte black cowling and a rigging tube to cover your battery cables, fuel line and shift cables? Great vids man!
Thanks for watching man. Suzuki didn’t have a matte black available. I checked with the dealer a bunch and a few others and everyone said the same that it wasn’t available. I decided to take a credit and stick with the gloss to match my raptors.
Hey we are going to repower a 521 with the 250ss, can you give a list of electronics needed to make it happen? Formerly a Mercury! Or any info that might help?
Hey Amanda, my dealership twin lakes marine took care of everything. The total cost covered new controls and shifter and prop. I believe Suzuki sends everything with the purchase needed to switch.
That’s nice you have the prop for a 250SS. A scorpion is it for a 250SS if you want to do R and D on a 4 blade go for. Scorpion should come with all 250SS.
Hey Brian, a 4 stroke from a 2 stroke will save you some for sure. I don’t have my garmins hooked to the motor computer so I can’t say for sure how much I’m saving but it’s a good bit. I used to fill every two days from guiding and now I’m like 3.5 days of fishing.
I’d go the SS man. It’s the sport model and made for bass boats and centers like yours. I ended up paying 26k in the height of Covid crap because I had to.
Good video. One question? The guages and controls. What was the change and price if you don't mind me asking. I'm running a Gen 1 225 etec and at close to 3000 hours on my etec it's been a great motor but the day is coming to change out to another brand. I'm favoring a Suzuki. So your video was a perfect timing deal......thanks for any info........
I was a little over 26k for install and controls. 3000 is great for any motor. I wished I liked mine more but I’ve owned two Evinrude in my life and both blew up.
Did you have to change out your throttle shifter and cables. You get good engines and bad engines in every brand, that warranty is amazing. Middle of coves was where the bait was friday.
Hey bud, I actually just got one as a backup. Didn’t notice a ton of difference in the performance. A little slower on the hole shot and slightly longer to get up the RPM but overall close to the same.

Right on! It’s been a killer motor

Glad you are Happy Billy, Hope you are doing well.
You too! Thanks

10000% been beyond happy with this motor and never have a bad feeling when I head out.

Love the Suzuki!
Just about all commercial fisher men use Suzkai on Tenn.River Kentucky lake. There very good motors. If I get another it will aSuzkia
Yea for sure one of the reasons I went with it.
I saw a saltwater guide that had well over a 1000 hours on a Suzuki and it NEVER broke down on him once.
Yea hoping to get long hours on her. At 220-230 and she still rocking and rolling
Lets put thAt bad boy on my 2008 champion 210 white please
Would be a sick combo 🤘🏻
I just wannna know where that boat lunch is SML is home for me I’ve only fished the Roanoke river side 😂

I wonder what you’d get with a 26P Tempest. My boat before my ranger I picked up 6 mph after switching to a Tempest
Yea I need to play around a bit more.
I think Andy Morgan is running Suzuki on his Bullet.
I'll have to check it out. I know there are for sure like 5-7 dudes running them now.
I have a 2019 pheonix 921 with same motor same prop 27p and had it at 74mph loaded empty livewells just me
Hell yea brother! Those pheonix hills are fast. My rangers a tank build lol

how much better is your mpg. i have twin 250 g1 etec thinking about 2 new Suzuki

I’m repowering a center console would you recommend a 250 ss or go with a standard 250 ? What did you pay if u don’t mind ? Thanks Jim
I’d go the SS man. It’s the sport model and made for bass boats and centers like yours. I ended up paying 26k in the height of Covid crap because I had to.
How are you running a 27 pitch and only getting the speeds stated? That is way to tall for that boat what rpm are you turning at wot?
Running 6100-6200 rpm. That’s the prop that was recommended to me by a few marine shops and pros running a Suzuki on a Ranger.
There very good motors commerical fishermen on Kentucky lake use most l will get one open the holes it do better
Yea I did finally open them and it helped a ton. Thanks for the tip
Do you how many hours you had on that Evinrude?
I think it only had around 409-500
Where did you get the anchor light for the raptor?
Hennessy outdoors bro!
@@billy_kohlsfishing thanks!

What is the aluminum rig you fish out of?
Hey Dennis last aluminum rig I had was a bass tracker years ago.
Did you have to change out your throttle shifter and cables. You get good engines and bad engines in every brand, that warranty is amazing. Middle of coves was where the bait was friday.
Yea new cables and shifter for sure 🤘🏻
Price?
Believe he said 26k in a comment.
I paid right at 25k for install but that was during crazy Covid times I think it’s a little less now
Have you tried or heard of anyone running a 28 scorpion on a ranger? I’m Repowering my 520c and leaning towards Suzuki just wish it was faster…
