Hi, I wrote a reply to one of your previous videos. I have a compliment, a request, and one mistake I to report.. First I am a former active United States Navy. I was medically retired in 2014 after my 5th major injured. The first part of my career I was an STG (Sonar Technician Surface) and initially served onboard USS Comte de Grasse DD-974 (a Spruance) and USS Henry B. Wilson DDG-7 (a Adams class). Later I also served on a Perry Class Frigate and then Burke class DDG's. First the compliment. Even now the attention to detail is outstanding. From the actions to even the discharge smoke puff after firing one of the main guns, well done. The ships look superb in details as does the water especially the wake. Visually in this build, the only critique would be that BB's blast when the guns are fired is a bit short and lacking in fire type detail but I assume that will be updated and tweaked as you get closer to release. Same goes for the missile trails. Next, the request - IF you are able, I would love to see the ships I served on included in the game. If you have already, then I thank you for that! If not and it is possible, I would love to see that not just for me but as a tribute to the ships and personnel that served on any of them! Finally, the mistake.. NOTE: This is information only as I understand you may not be able to use actual sonar unless you can find a recording or similar for what you need. I mention that in this comment in a bit more detail and why. Anyhow, you said the ship the Farragut went after was still using its sonar. That sonar ping was not russian, it sounded like an straight OMNI non reverb ping from an SQS-26B/BX or SQS-53B/C system (without the return, frequency shifts or background water and harmonics) which was US only at that time and only found on the CGN's like Texas (using the 26BX) still in service then, Spruance class DD (53B), the Kidd class DDG (53B) and the Ticonderoga class CG (first flight using 53B). The Farragut would be using the SQQ/SQS 23 Pair. BB's had no sonar. The Cruiser, Texas would be using an SQS-26B/BX sonar system, the precursor to the SQS - 53B. The SQS 26 would be a match to that sonar sound we hear in this video. russian sonar has a very different signal and sound. Depending on their ship, they had a various number of different sonar sounds and systems. Today, one of the primary systems in the US Navy, is the SQS- 53C that is in use and it can do all the bravo series does plus some other stuff that is classified. I know it is hard to find sound that depicts what real sonar actually sounds like online thus there are very few recordings out there for most systems and the ones that you can find, are mainly a base ping OMNI default mode. This is due to something I first mentioned - most actual sonars and the pulse, the frequencies and modes are highly classified and not public release from all navies world wide. Again that was information only as I am not sure what resources you have to find or come up with russian and other navy sonar sounds for this era. Regardless, awesome job on this Simulation. I have waited a long time for someone to do something at this level and with detail and from what I have seen so far, you have nailed it better than expected! I cannot wait to get my hands on your work and try it for real.. and of course really give you feedback! LOL ;-)
I was at her Camden dock as she returned from refurbishment at the Philadelphia Navy Yard,a magnificent sight as she hove into view while coming around the bend…a true leviathan
The detail is pretty amazing. The guns recoil, the puffs of smoke from the bore evacuators, the pressure wave effect on the water. Even the SM launchers on the Texas and Farragut reloading was pretty cool. Nice to see the missiles don't just teleport into the launcher.
I served as a gunners mate in 16 inch turret one on the USS Iowa in 1989. I can't wait for this game to play scenarios like this as a what if I could have had the opportunity to do what I was trained for!!!!!
Those tracers and detonations in the dark are bloody gorgeous! I'm very new to computer wargames, especially naval simulation like this, but I'm thinking I might have to deep dive into them to get used to how they play before this comes out.
Looks like an amazing simulator/game. You can appreciate all the details the developers have included, and the animations are incredible. this game is on my Steam wishlist.
The look and sound of the chaff, missiles, CIWS, air bursts... all are stunning. The exchange of fire is the most cinematic thing I've seen outside of film. DCS has some solid modelling of these systems, but nothing as near visually and audibly as impressive as this.

My grandfather served on the Big J during Korea. He helped restore her in NJ before she had pier. He took me there and showed me the off limits space after she was in full glory. He passed in 2009 but I hope there are people there who remember him. During his time on board and stole a 5" shell and cut of the bottom 4 inches. It was his pipe ashtray from then on. It site behind my desk with his pipe in his honor.
When I saw the name Texas, I initially thought it was the Battleship Texas, and was about the get really confused, yet excited.
I heard 'USS Texas' and had a little gasp thinking we were gonna see the ole girl back in lol.
One of the things I’m hoping to see in mods are older meme ships like a retrofitted Texas lol. I’m still hoping we get the Yavuz at some point as she fits in the era just barely
@@sirboomsalot4902 Modding support seems to be solid
@@sirboomsalot4902if only we built the montanas, imagine those refitted
@@sirboomsalot4902space Battleship Texas
Wanna meme? Retrofitted Mikasa
The barrels on the Mk7s need to be modeled to depress to 5* for reloading. Looks pretty fun though.
I noticed that right away, Big J's guns didn't lower for reloading. It would be nice if they fix that little detail.
AN IOWA. I can't get this excited this early in the day stop it.
Thank you for defending my country!
That was awesome!
That’s why the sign says, “Don’t mess with Texas.”Greetings from Texas Wolf!
If World of Warships isn't gonna give The Black Dragon its due, then Sea Power sure as hell will. Also, love that 80's synth / Naval hymns / Red October type soundtrack the game has.
USS New Jersey (BB-62) was here because of her 16 inch guns, wasn't she? Everybody likes a good light show💪🔥💥
12:33
that flak fire looks AMAZING!! I I wish flak looked like this in War on the Sea
this game looks incredible. november is so far away
My father was a vietnam vet...we live in pa nd ill never forget him takin me nd my cousins to see Battleship new jersey....miss u Dad R.i.p...glad to see New jersey gettin some love....usually big Mo nd iowa are the ones u hear about
I've toured the Iowa, Wisconsin and New Jersey. If you have to go on one, I think the New Jersey is the most preserved. They let you go down to forward plot and pull the triggers on the big guns.
Haha funny, I have only been on Iowa, Wisconsin
I beleive the USS Missouri is the most well preserved.
@@ericstearns170 it's actually wisconsin who was still on the active register until 2006. Iowa is next in line as she was still on the register until 2003. It's weird but Mo is still very well preserved either way.
@@timber_wulf5775 yeah, Mighty Mo might be a museum, but is one of the best kept museum ships ever. She could,.conceivably put to sea. She won't, and she's been an active museum for far longer than she should have, but something about signing the Japanese WW2 surrender on her bow makes her special for some reason. Lol
Been to those three and I agree.
North Carolina is another very good museum, as was Texas when I saw here 8 years ago
Naval combat in the missile age. Iowa class 16 inch guns entered the conversation.
One thing I noticed is this scenario is set in 1978 but the New Jersey refit would not have been completed until years later. And the Tomahawk did not enter service until 1983
Grew up in the 70s and 80s and built plenty of models. New Jersey and Arizona had pride of place on my shelves
Man, this game is a beauty. Looking forward to create some screenshots
I'd definitely give a pucker factor out of ten to the first incoming missile volley
Great video !
o7 for the Texas. She put up a hell of a fight. Shame her radar was off when the other missiles were heading for her.
What a fantastic game. Make sure you play more of this. 😀
I'm digging the Sea Power videos - watching them all : )
The detail is pretty amazing. The guns recoil, the puffs of smoke from the bore evacuators, the pressure wave effect on the water. Even the SM launchers on the Texas and Farragut reloading was pretty cool. Nice to see the missiles don't just teleport into the launcher.
Another banger video🎉 keep it up!
Thanks! I appriciate it!
No problem! Your content is on par with movies.
I identified all the ship classes from memory even after not looking at cold war ships since I lost my reference books in 2019. I still got it.
You know its a good evening when wolfpack just posted!!!
Very cinematic. Your ships engaging those missiles off in the distance and then very shortly, not so far in the distance. Definite purchase for me.
I served as a gunners mate in 16 inch turret one on the USS Iowa in 1989. I can't wait for this game to play scenarios like this as a what if I could have had the opportunity to do what I was trained for!!!!!
The shockwave on the water as the New Jersey fired her 16-inchers is great attention to detail by the developers.
Sweet, really wanted to see the Iowa class in action, specifically New Jersey. Who knew wolfie could read minds eh? :D
This new sim is very encouraging , hope you'll keep the shows coming Wolf !!
Loving the burst of naval content
Those tracers and detonations in the dark are bloody gorgeous! I'm very new to computer wargames, especially naval simulation like this, but I'm thinking I might have to deep dive into them to get used to how they play before this comes out.
That was sooo cool! And that old video/camera effect? Chef´s kiss! 🙂
16:53 This right here is a true Black Dragon moment!
Looks like an amazing simulator/game. You can appreciate all the details the developers have included, and the animations are incredible. this game is on my Steam wishlist.
Awesome stuff!
The look and sound of the chaff, missiles, CIWS, air bursts... all are stunning. The exchange of fire is the most cinematic thing I've seen outside of film. DCS has some solid modelling of these systems, but nothing as near visually and audibly as impressive as this.
Been waiting on a battleship engagement..thanks!!!!!!!!
Love your videos - the developer has to be pleased in how you present the possibilities of this sim! Good work!
I met Peter Fiedler the first captain of the Missile Cruiser Texas at an Airport in Frankfurt super cool to see her in action unfortunate that missile slipped through. :D
That first salvo had me sweating! Man, I am pumped for this game!
15:12 life rafts in the water! such attention to detail
Used to play Janes Combat Fleet Command back in the day when I was a kid. This game reminds me of it quite a lot.
Holy heck, this is good stuff. Loving your videos man, cheers from Norway. Thank you for defending us :)
Fascinating game, please do more of this. Looking forward to more content like this.
So glad this game is getting more attention. It’s been on my wishlist since last year
Dam, That Virginia class looked good surviving the siren swarm attack.
DDG’s God bless em. I served on HMAS Hobart (39) in the 90’s what a ship she was, best I served on.
This game is beautiful the shots of the NJ shooting in the distance *chefs kiss*
I'm not sure if I'm more excited about this games release or about watching Wolfpack345 play this game!
:D
00:49 that shot looks magnificent. I can’t wait to play this freaking game
Beautiful game. Those engagements were just incredible. This is what I wanted back in the 1990s paying Harpoon on my MacBook.
I like how one can use the big guns like NJ and also the missiles. Its a nice blend of all assets.
The animations in this game are absolutely amazing
Agreed!
"Somehow...." Loving these, Wolfpack. Cold Waters and the WW2 naval game (I forget the name) didn't quite do it for me, but this one is looking really good.
EDIT: just a stupid autocorrect mistake
Beautiful way of splitting in some short cinematic takes of ships into gameplay! Seems you had fun with mission editor!
The fact that no SAM's were put on NJ kind of blows my mind
You had me at "Iowa class..." :D
This game looks really solid. Looking forward to it's release. And maybe i should've started with this: your videos are great. Enjoyed the U-Boat ones a lot too.
Dude! That was intense!!
Man they really nailed the graphics and effects on this, I can't wait to try it out.
USS New Jersey, my grandfathers ship. Always worth a visit across the Delaware from Philadelphia
I've been on the USS New Jersey, she's a beast. As soon as I saw the title, I clicked haha it was reflex
This game reminds me old naval warfare game Jane's Combat simulation: Fleet Command..fro 1998-99. So much fun, but this game looks more complex a player have many more ways or options to play. GL Wolfpack 😉
Good call on the Black Dragon! I live about 40 minutes away and have been aboard a few times. Amazing ship.
You make very cool videos. Very entertaining! Keep up the good work!
Watching the 5” tracers was a very nice touch, very cool…..
When you first said "SS-N-9" I thought "Hold up, those will be from a submarine, probably a Charlie!" I didn't know until I looked it up that the Nanuchka also carried them🙂
Hey Wolfpack, loved this vid. It was definitely intense!
Would you be able to repeat this scenario again, but give the Big J a typical battle group she would have been in IRL? I want to see just how impenetrable a properly setup AEGIS bubble is.
Thx!
As a Navy vet, I know what our ships can do that they wouldn't have gotten close to hitting our ships. Great video
Thank you so much for doing this. Now, if you do one with a carrier and a Tico in support, you'll have hit all of my wishes.
Farragut going all "Damn the SSMs, full speed ahead."
