Diana and Charles wage a media war. The monarchy's role is up for debate. Welcome to the '90s - and Queen Elizabeth II's biggest challenge to date.
I never would have guessed that Elizabeth is Australian in real life. She's really convincing at a British accent!
I don't think she has a strong Australian accent in real life either, I just saw an interview of her and I thought she was british
@@lilypond5158 She's been living in London for some time now I think. Maybe she's losing her accent 🥲
@@jurinaissance yeah that happens, she said in a newer interview that she sounds less Australian lately so...
There's not that much of a stretch between Australian and British Accent. So no surprise there.
Both accents are similar.
I absolutely loved Dominic's insight about how the fear of saying the wrong can affect your physicality of speech. Such an interesting reading of the Charles character.
No one can be like Diana, but this is the best so far. Great job!
Yes, she looks a lot like her at certain angles.
Debicki is far too beautiful for Diana.
@@a.t.c.3862 i've literally seen you in many videos trying to throw shade on Diana. If Debicki is "far too beautiful" to play Diana meaning Diana was not beautiful what's your opinion about Dominic West or josh o Connor being cast to play Charles?? Are they too ugly to play Charles??😂 Like okk you support the RF, that's your opinion and totally respected, but way do you feel the need to throw shade on a dead woman's looks especially when this woman was breathtakingly beautiful??
@@a.t.c.3862 Stop comparing
@@a.t.c.3862 They're both attractive.....
Elizabeth did an amazing job playing diana. From the way she acts to the way she speaks, you can tell she put a lot of thought into it
I got chills hearing her voice
I like the attack of Imelda for the Queen. You can see the change of attitude from being a naive but stern Claire Foy to stern and almost condescending attack of Olivia Colman to a little likeable one from Imelda.
Olivia is like an ice when she did this role.
Claire is like almost scared but trying to cover it with conviction
Imelda is so relax and they made it like the queen is actually sweet
Nobody..but nobody can play the Queen..not even close..that beautiful..smart..dear..warm woman..Queen..mother..wife..grandmother..and so on..but only a Great woman who served her People whole life time..till death.. tell me who can play such a woman with respect and loyality...nobody..
"sweet"? - I don't know if you lived in Britain or Australia etc in the 90's, but The Queen was widely regarded back then as a remote, cold, distant figurehead. The Queen Mother was FAR more popular than The Queen.
@@charliedameliodunkinfanpag6462 ur so ignorant lmao
@@DistantCousin in 90ies..last century..my God. What are you talking about?
@@vildekm uf .i Like your"compliment"..
I'm not gonna lie, this season starts slow but grew on me the best was Charles and Di's conversation about their marriage, and their truths
Elizabeth Debicki is so beautiful, my goodness 😍
Of course..more beautiful then Di..has lovely warm eyes..honest..clear..so oposite od Di...
@@charliedameliodunkinfanpag6462 Lady Di will always be my favourite though! I think Debicki did an amazing job at portraying the depth, sincerity, honesty, and warmth from Lady Di-this vulnerability, this fragility, strength, and sadness. She mastered Princess Diana so well in my opinion :)
Dominic is such a darling. His chuckles are so endearing.
The producers and casting directors hired the best of the best actors. The only problem is that they are all likable. Dominic West is pretty damn likable and charismatic. How can you love to hate him as Charles?
Terrible pick to portray Charles.Too old and he sounds like he smokes 2 packs a day.
The point is exactly that. Nobody is supposed to be hated
I don't think they look alike but his impression was excellent. Sounds incredibly similar to Charles
@@lolalovesme2987 He also cheated on his wife,I'm sure that he knows how to portray Charles.
The woman who played as Diana Princess she look alike!
It's amazing how much Elizabeth managed to sound both like the real Diana (or very close) and like an older Emma Corrin. Best leading actress Emmy nomination guaranteed.
I really couldn't have said it better! She's phenomenal
Elizabeth really did an excellent job playing as Diana, I think not only her accent, but also her motion, facial expression are closest to Diana herself. Really like her acting in the Crown, she is charming and gorgeous !
Elizabeth absolutely killed it as Diana. The only thing that was distracting for me, was the height difference. It's hard to ignore sometimes. I understand Diana was on the taller side 5'10"? but Debicki is an astounding 6'3" put her in heels and she is much taller than Diana. Just my observations, that's all. Well done tho! She embodied Princess Diana so well.
She's 6'1"-6'2". The thing on Google that says 6'3" is wrong. But yeah, she's astoundingly tall and willowy
I think Elizabeth's real height just served to make her feel like she was larger than life as Diana, but close in on her face and it would just ground you back to the painfully vulnerable and strong woman that Diana was. Great choice by the casting directors
I just finished episode five this season is so good so far, great job everyone 👏
finished five episode today and then five more tomorrow. So far, episode four was the best in the first five episodee. You'll really feel for Margaret and Elizabeth
@@jaimesantos1170 yes I agree Episode 4 was the best
I would not be surprised if Debicki is nominated for Emmy.
She is the most believable actress to play Diana yet
I'm so proud of Elizabeth, i mean she was impeccable!!!
Elizabeth is so beautiful
I didn't like Season 4 at the beginning but warmed up to the new Queen. Same thing here. Episode 2 is good, and I especially liked the storyline of Dodi and his father. I'll have to research to see if The Duke of Windor's valet really worked for Dodi's father.
Yes he did. The shows twists and manipulates many facts, but this one is accurate .
@@r.22r I just found that out. Interesting
@@r.22r not entirely. Left out the part where he was fired by the Duke because his wife died and he requested to be off at 4PM every day to care for his children. The Duke who claimed loved him like a son FIRED him. Which is why he was working at The Ritz.
@@amyferrill770 never new that either
It doesn't matter if he did or not - this is a fictionalised account remember? Truth does not matter.
I can't believe that's the same guy who played Jimmy McNulty in The Wire. He had a pretty damn convincing Baltimorese accent in that one too. The dude is amazingly talented.
He’s super talented !
She play her so well. Thank you brought back memories when she was live xx 😘 ❤ 💕
I believe this season has the best actors 🤗
Best Diana interpretación ever by Elizabeth Debicky
It's interesting that Debicki performed the part of Diana perfectly and executed every look, posture and nuance. However I was left feeling cold and hollow by her version of Diana. The Diana we see in old footage is so warm that even though she's not speaking to us - the viewer - she oozes so much warmth that it just comes through in volumes. I never felt that warmth or soul in Debicki's performance. She did everything right technically, but the soul was not there.
That's a really interesting observation. Elizabeth is a beautiful, hardworking actress but her eyes are very different to Diana's.
@@olivia-performanceartist3693 True, even though Diana had blue eyes, they weren't such a light shade of blue and I'm almost wondering whether contact lenses with just a slight darkening effect might have helped. It didn't help that she was directed to do the "head down, peer from under your brows" look so extensively. No matter which scene or which setting, she was doing that. I mean yeah, Diana did that a lot, but it wasn't _ all _ the time and it was more reserved for moments when she was either super shy or being coy and playful.
Oh and another thing. The way Diana was portrayed, she almost became unlikable. Sort of bratty and self obsessed. To be fair, this is much more about the script and direction than it is Debicki's performance. I'm sure the real Diana had that part of her as well, but her genuine warmth seemed to compensate, which was missing here.
@@KatsPurr I noticed that as well, that part wasn't well executed. Overall all of them did great!
Elizabeth Debicki is the Diana so far in the moving picture..
She did the role in a very excellent shape! Better than the queen this season!
Diana is my Queen!!!!!!!!!!!
Prize for best Charles goes to .... the dialect coach!
Yes!!! Did the actor even try???
Debecki got the body movements of Diana to a tee…..
I wish they had covered Diana at Casey House in Toronto, and her greeting of her sons back on the boat afterward.
I first saw Elizabeth Debicki in Widows, and I thought "Wow, that American actor does a great Polish accent". Then I saw her in Guardians of the Galaxy and thought she was actually English. Nope! What an amazing ability with accents.
Shes Australian?!!!!! DAMN!! Even more respect to her!!!
Wow, this is too close to Diana😍
So much talent here.
Dominic did really with Charle's accent too!
The people that were casted wrong in my opinion are Prince Philip, The Queen Mother and Tony Blair, maybe even Prince William. Dominic West is not in any way looks like The King but he perfected the small mannerisms and the accent. Imelda Staunton also played HM The Queen perfectly, I can barely see the Dolores comparison because it was suppressed by the immaculate portrayal of HM.
True, the queen mother is so thin when in fact she was quite fat and prince william looks so emo
Agreed. Prince Philip needed to have more angular and harsh features, whereas the one cast looked too wholesome. Similarly, the Queen Mum needed to have rounder features, whereas the one cast looked lanky and her hair and clothing seemed messy and lower class.
The actors don't have to look like the royal family members.
The problem is with West is that he is about 10 years too old to play the role. Charles was in his 40's during the 90s
@@DistantCousin I agree. His voice is just too brash to be Charles.
Elizabeth sounded like Diana. The guy who played Charles wasn't even trying. I also disagree Diana said 'whatever popped into her head'. When she did speak they were careful, heartfelt wirds.
I thought he nailed Charles’ accent
Elisabeth, ballet, Paris...
Wow this is amazing
Eddy Alexander Rivera Martinez
No one can be like Diana - looks or voice!
sims 3 music hooray
I thought she was the lady from Stranger things with big eyes
Not close enough.
Not the "Secrect"
Unlike Aussies and Americans, Diana rarely opens her jaw much when talking. She may be less tense in the jaw than Charles, I don't know, but the upper class in Britain do appear to speak with as little effort as possible. And however much Diana might picked that up naturally, it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't deeply reinforced in finishing school as an expression of gentility. But I think Debicki missed it.
Is anybody else hearing the Sims 3 music here?
Can I regular person learn how to talk like the Queen 👸❓❓❓
Did they wrap both season 5 and 6 or just the current season?
Wheres that Wired accents expert?
Dominic West is a very good actor, but he didn't come close to 'nailing' the 'royal' accent of Charles....
I really like to learn
Josh O’Connor was a much better Charles
I can't help remembering Dom playing serial killer Fred West... like Anthony Hopkins he's forever tainted in my mind now!
Hasnat Khan??????
What about him?
@@07Flash11MRC they’re not posting anything about him. He was at the premiere too.
He is there.
A brilliant actor actually, had never seen him before, but he gave a sensitive and nuanced performance.
@@Crystal.0786 not every minor character will be covered in the promotions. Promotions are meant to create views and marketing the product , so the bigger stars/lead characters are the obvious route to take.
tbh i love dominic west, but why was he cast as charles tho? they share absolutely no resemblance
The casting is great again. Even more so when you know it’s Netflix! I’m surprised Charles isn’t a handicapped black transvestite.
Years As....britchhh
Charles coulda done better really....
West is a horrible Charles.
The Diana woman was way too thin, Diana was slender when she was struggling with bulimia in her early days but later she had good weight. This woman is painfully thin, skinny arms and backbones protruding.
It's a bit strange describing Diana in the present tense. I feel they are so engrossed with their Diana- the character- that the real Diana has been forgotten..
This is keeping our collective memory of her alive. If you ever really cared about Diana, you'd be thanking them for honoring her by casting 2 great actresses who gave the performance their all.
@@07Flash11MRC I agree. Elizabeth looks more like her, but I did like Emma's performance better. Elizabeth plays her too vulnerable. Of course, that may be how the writers wanted it, but I see young Diana more vulnerable than the Diana of the 1990's.
@@07Flash11MRC They should just dig her up and put her on display - in a glass coffin, like Snowhite - and we could all go and kneel round her with our caps in our hands.
Lol, it's comical how bad dominic west is, ruined one of the most complicated characters in the story.
He's too much of a sweetie playing someone who has a bad temper and emotionally abused his wife to the point she wanted to kill herself, but still wants the world to think he's a sweetie.
god this season is nearly unbearable. it gets worse with every episode.
This show is a work of fiction that is very loosely based on real life events. At least the producers of the Victoria tv series created a story about members of the Royal family that have been gone for many years. The accent isn't very good sorry, you can totally tell she's not English.
Elizabeth Debicki, accent apart, seemed more to be portraying Paris Hilton than Princess Diana...
Season 5 sucks
a lot of cuts and boring
Didn’t like him as Charles … neither the actress poorly done season 5 disappointed
All that effort and they do such a poor job of impersonating real people. What a waste. Awful casting. I cringed at the sad attempt to pretend to be these two people who are known so well around the world. And with one of them still alive, it seems like a really odd idea to recreate them. Of course, Diana is still alive in many hearts, and none of this effort does justice to her. Sad
Such bollocks, just watch a youtube video and copy the voice
Debicki is 100times more beautiful then Di..more clever..elegant..dear..pitty she has to play her..but the best one of all the rest...
Terrible boring series 😏
