I saw this taping live on 11/15. It didn't make the final cut for that night's episode, but I'm glad that it still got to air! Elizabeth has a great interview charisma. And not really anything got cut out. Jon Stewart, who was slated for 10 minutes, was interacting with Stephen for an hour - and LOTS of hilarious moments didn't make the episode cut. I'm not criticizing or injecting any opinion, just stating facts as someone who witnessed this live.
Is it just me or does anyone else also think that she’s still in character. Her mannerisms throughout the interview felt so much like Princess Diana. And I thought that she didn’t have Australian accent here. So fascinating.
I’m Australian and I had no idea she was until half way through the interview when I read this comment. I could catch a couple of word where she slipped into her Australian accent but I only caught it because I knew.
Yes, she is still in character. Her Australian is more deeper in her previous interviews before The Crown and she was switching and slipping through Australian-English accent which is understandable. She also does the pauses like Princess Di and how she moves. Amazing character channeling. 4:10 that's definitely Princess Di
@CWS and TKP 66-02 Was she in the man from UNCLE? (After consulting IMDB) Of course she was. God, that’s so different from her other characters that I didn’t recognise her. And somehow that still falls into “sad people on boat”, though I guess there’s more anger than sadness in this instance.
As did the actors for Charles and the Queen. I'm not familiar enough with the other charcters to comment. Actually, Thatcher and Blair were very good too
2:50 The movement coach - Polly Bennett - she mentions, was also responsible for coaching Rami Malek as Queen's Freddy Mercury for his Oscar-winning role in "Bohemian Rhapsody". So, who knows, maybe Elizabeth will win an Emmy for her royal portrayal with this series.🙏
Elizabeth is absolutely captivating, I've loved her ever since The Night Manager. She still seems like she's in Diana mode in this interview, it's great.
So soft spoken, for such an in your face role. I almost feel bad knowing what's going to happen in the final season, but she's going to kill it, in more ways than one.
My 11yo is obsessed with the short hair Elizabeth had in the Night Manager (And I am obsessed with Elizabeth's performance in that role) because she looks so beautiful and proud and brave with her pixie cut. So my daughter showed our hairdresser about a thousand photos from that series and got her hair cut exactly the same and she ROCKS IT! I'm telling you that little girl grew about two feet bc she was standing so tall when we went home! Thank you for giving her the courage to be different from all the other girls! 💪❤️
She's 100% still in character. Also, I find her awkwardness endearing. Despite her success she isn't taking herself too seriously. Also, being 6'3", a 6'3" partner would be a dream. /simprant
I love her! I first saw her in Gatsby. Her skin is gorgeous. Elizabeth debicki as princess diana is everything. This is her time to shine. But I feel bad for her bc of the shitty writing of this season she isn't getting the praise she deserves. Hope she gets awards tho. My second favourite Aussie beauty next to Cate.
I've seen a few of her interviews, and she's generally been composed like this. It's probably a psychological effect of tall girls not trying to take up more space and attention than they already do with their heights. I had a cousin who was like that. Gwendoline Christie is different though. She's bombastic and vivacious.
She's 6' 2'' and looks like a cross between a swan and an angel. She is so graceful and a brilliant actress! Born lucky you could say! Not surprising she started at the top I guess!
Her English accent when playing Virginia Woolf was extraordinary. I haven't heard anything like it since my grandmother passed away. A very fine actress.
There is no comparison to Stephen fanboying over a lovely and awesomely talented Aussie actress (who plays The People's Princess, The English Rose). She is worthy, and that's why I love him.
I first saw her in Man From UNCLE. Such an amazing film and she was absolutely gorgeous. She did the soft-spoken, calm villain so well. And she was sad on a boat there too. But only for about a half a second :D
I've seen The Night Manager multiple times and I didn't even realise it was her until I read a review of the latest series of The Crown. Which is probably about the highest praise you can give an actor.
5:30 that incredible... I didn't know here at all till watching some Guardians 3 interview. No joking my 1st thought after listen and watching her was - she's like younger Cate Blanchet and here we go ! 0_o Elisabeth got these kind of magnetism, elegant, charm, manner and lovely soft spoken language as Kate (+ for sure some other things I found hard to describe)
She's a great actress and picks cool projects. Australian celebrities/actors seem particularly down-to-earth and likable. I lived there for a number of months and it was amazing. It's also funny how she played basically the same character in Tenet and Night Manager, the abused wife of a wealthy arms dealer who is liberated with the help of the undercover main character.
"She's great on a Boat" without mentioning "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." ? Wow, Hammer's stock had dropped. Her Jordan Baker made me forget any crush I'd had on Carrie Mulligan. THAT movie was a home run by the way. I believe I was overheard by Colin Hanks (yes, son of Tom) when I mentioned a small market Disc Jockey who played THE BEST music from that era. A remaster of the Soundtrack would quite literally make that movie timeless.
She's also in "Everest" in a bit part as the expedition base camp doctor and "the Cloverfield Paradox". There's alot of great talent in Australia. Some of them we are lucky enough to get to see here in the states
Ladies and gentlemen, the search for the most beautiful human being on Earth has officially ended here. Like, seriously. Let's just stop now and give Ms. Elizabeth Debicki the award. 🤩🏆 Oh my goodness, this woman is overwhelmingly gorgeous and simply divine! Wow. 🔥💘
Australian actors are theater trained. Prepared for making the transition to film acting & don't need acting coaches in Hollywood to LEARN the craft (unlike a lot of pretty American faces..)
i quite frankly know why... she has the perfect stereotype of a trophy wife, guys with too much money all are hooked to boats and chicks. And those women almost always endup sad.
This is exactly what I was thinking! I really thought the answer she was going to give to the question, "what do all these have in common?" would be "my co-star in each of these roles was twice my age".
I have to admit that I'm crushing on her and she's usually not the type that I'm attracted to. Hell, I found her attractive in the gold face paint in GOTG 😄
Let's have Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchet, Margot Robbie, Rebel Wilson and Elizabeth Debicki in a movie. Oh, let's not forget the prettiest of them all, Chris Hemsworth, lol
It´s not only the boat... her character in Tenet was almost exactly like the one in "The Night Manager" (married to an arms dealer interpreted by an English actor, and afraid for her son). Well, you could say that Diana was married to an English arms dealer and that she was afraid they would take her sons from her.
She is a beautiful, talented actress. She is too beautiful, tall and lanky to portray Diana to the point of distraction, especially next to Dominic West who also is taller than the real Charles but Debicki towers over him.
she is the best portrayal of Princess Diana I’ve ever seen in every movie and series.
Hear hear
ikr
So her second job was with Leonardo DiCaprio and her third job was with Cate Blanchett. That's certainly a way to start a career.
She also was the baddie against Henry Cavill in Man from Uncle… girl is awesome
I think she was also in tenet
@@Area-lr1mz She played an important character in Tenet.
The Cavill Hammer flick is also where I saw her first. Underrated film I think.
Classically trained at the vca in Melbourne, Australia.
I definitely want the unedited version of this interview. I could hear her speak and tell stories for hours, she's so captivating!
Extremely!!!

damn, boring as hell
In terms of stature and presence, she does Diana better than the other actresses I've seen so far.
I couldn’t agree more
Totally agree. Sometimes you think it's the real one. Stunning performance.
Emma wasn’t bad either .she matched her in terms of demeanour perfectly
In terms of stature and presence this woman causes excitement in my brain that is hard to comprehend.
I totally agree chris.
Is it just me or does anyone else also think that she’s still in character. Her mannerisms throughout the interview felt so much like Princess Diana. And I thought that she didn’t have Australian accent here. So fascinating.
I thought the same thing, it’s incredible.
she's still shooting s6 so maybe she still has not gotten diana out of her system lol
I’m Australian and I had no idea she was until half way through the interview when I read this comment. I could catch a couple of word where she slipped into her Australian accent but I only caught it because I knew.

Yes I saw that a couple of times. It’s her eyes and that shy upward looking doe eye look. 👀😊
I can listen to her all the time. Such a relaxing voice xd
so this is your first time
@@karenling2106 no its not ;)
Omg she is doing the Diana eyes on and off throughout the interview .. 😨 she was sooo good in crown ❤️ uncanny!
right?!? 🥵
Dude. I’m still watching it now and I’m blown away
"I've sort of cornered the market for sad people on boats." 😆
Nice to know Elizabeth knows her brand😂😂

As did the actors for Charles and the Queen. I'm not familiar enough with the other charcters to comment. Actually, Thatcher and Blair were very good too
Was hoping she'd be wearing heels so she can tower over everyone. She's so awesome!
Like in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, where they deliberately put her in platform shoes to do that.
She was trying not to make Stephen feel small. She's considerate that way.
At 6'3" her chances of a part in Mission Impossible 😢
@@jenlambie14 yikes, imagine the platforms Thomas whould have to wear, lmao.
She already does without the heels ;)
Another great Aussie actor. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
If it weren't for the Aussies and the Irish, Hollywood would be done😉
Also like so many "great Aussies", not born in Australia. Nicole Kidman is another one.
@@John-re2qw + in that case shes of polish heritage to :D
I loved "The Night Manager". Such a good story.
she was so great in that role that they basically wrote the same thing for her in Tenet
+1. Great boats.
So that’s where i’ve seen her face before….. thanks for that
me too, i watched it three times all the way through
@@rishabhpb check her out in the Burnt Orange Heresy, with Donald Sutherland, Klass Bang, and Mick Jagger. Its very good.
A truly beautiful lady

She did Diana justice. She should be very proud of that performance because it honours her.
Elizabeth is absolutely captivating, I've loved her ever since The Night Manager. She still seems like she's in Diana mode in this interview, it's great.
I first saw her in The Great Gatsby and was completely captivated by her beauty.
I first saw her in the night manager and couldn’t take my eyes off her
I first saw her in this interview and you lads are creepy and weird
Yeah, first time I saw her too, in "Gatsby." She really made an impression. I've enjoyed her career a great deal since. That's for sure.
She's a Goddess walking among us!
What a simp
She does have a certain "ethereal" quality about her. She could've played an elf in a Lord of the Rings production.
She is stunning as Princess Diana whom I regret didn't know much about until after her untimely passing. Her portrayal makes me miss her.
She was such a powerhouse in tenet I hope she has a long career!
...she nailed that stare! Well-deserved Emmy for her.
she is absolutely stunning and so very talented It was like watching
Princess Di in person
So soft spoken, for such an in your face role. I almost feel bad knowing what's going to happen in the final season, but she's going to kill it, in more ways than one.

People who have not seen The Great Gatsby, Night Manager, Tenet and The Crown, she is the golden queen from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Would’ve loved an extended interview, absolutely fascinating and …lovely! 🤯💖
Have a look around UA-cam. She's done a lot of press for the Crown. She's a great interviewee. Very thoughtful.

She is wearing like the thinnest flats to avoid towering over people. 6'3 is a great height
For an average female height scale YES its very very tall for her, and don't forget that British actress Gwendolyn Christie also stands 6'.3".
Its extraordinary height for women and uncommon for NON celebrity people
Loved her in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. !
Never heard of her, but I think I'm in love.
She’s wonderful in the new season of The Crown. She really channels Princess Diana.
