Due to the pandemic, the concerts with Dhafer Youssef that had originally been planned for the season 2021/22 could only be streamed. To make up for them, the singer and oud player will play with the Frankfurt Radio Bigband once more in March and April 2023 - and he’ll come with a whole new program. A Street of Minarets - that is the picture that Dhafer Youssef had in mind when he recently published his new album. Magnus Lindgren and the Frankfurt Radio Bigband have looked at this portrait from a jazzorchestral kind of angle and with the help of new arrangements have given it some strong colours. The acoustical exhibition will be held this evening. Also on board: The Spanish pianist Daniel Garcia who very well knows how to blend in with the artwork. A real feast for the ear - and maybe also one for the inner eye.

Die für Frankfurt vorgesehenen Konzerte mit Dhafer Youssef konnten in der Saison 2021/22 pandemiebedingt nur als Stream stattfinden. Um diese live nachzuholen, ist der Sänger und Oud-Spieler im März und April 2023 abermals zu Gast - mit einem ganz neuen Programm.
Eine Straße voller Minarette - das ist das Bild, das Dhafer Youssef zu dem Titel seines erst kürzlich veröffentlichten Albums inspiriert hat. Magnus Lindgren und die hr-Bigband haben dieses Porträt einmal aus dem jazzorchestralen Winkel betrachtet und ihm mit neuen Arrangements satte Farben verliehen. Die akustische Ausstellung gibt’s an diesem Abend.
Auch mit dabei: Der spanische Pianist Daniel Garcia, der sich mit seinem Instrument hervorragend in das Gesamtkunstwerk einzufügen weiß. Ein Genuss fürs Ohr - und vielleicht sogar ein bisschen fürs innere Auge.

الأفضل دائما
Le"Big Band", aussi virtuose soit-il, est vraiment "big"! Il alourdit la musique de Dhafer, altère son coté aérien naturel. On penserait volontiers au poème de Charles Baudelaire, l'Albatros:
"Le Poète est semblable au prince des nuées
Qui hante la tempête et se rit de l'archer ;
Exilé sur le sol au milieu des huées,
Ses ailes de géant l'empêchent de marcher."
L'esprit de ce brillant équipage n'y est pas...
Non je ne suis pas d'accord, je trouve que l'orchestre tout en subtilités surligne et exalte la sensibilité de Dhafer Y. pour la porter aux nuages Merci cependant pour la citation de cet autre écorché vif qu'était le grand Charles 😏
