I love jazz but this music's theory is totally new to me and opens a whole other dimension of amazing music! Maybe if the whole world (definitely my country) appreciated and respected the music of all nations and cultures, we could all get along better!

Rhythmic patterns and tuning of many "ethnic" music is much different than typical American music. African drum patterns are especially interesting, with each drum being responsible for one aspect of the song, such as rhythm, melody, soloing, etc. Cool stuff!
Look up Sona Jobarteh. You will see many of these rhythms are not new but instead are brought from Africa.

Very true, i searched around for eastern and Arabian jazz, this group was one of the first to pop up....I understand why, this was just what I was looking for! A mix of west and east with jazz included, these drum beats are so creatively free and relaxed but so rhythmic at the same time!

I'm up late tonight working on my house & was in a kinda bad mood...until this concert loaded in and started playing after my Udu Hadgini group/concert ended - and I'm enthralled by the rich ambient textures this small ensemble achieves, and I'm in a much better mood now! Thanks for posting and cheers!
(I bought an Irish tin whistle some months ago...now I'd like to get a Duduk and an Udu Hadgini...oh, and a set of bagpipes and a sitar: Timeout for Fun & Ethnomusicology! ;-)
