    2018 ranger XP 1000 here, we are at 2100 miles, ~150 hours on ours. Been from the Mississippi valley in rural Wisconsin, to the continental divide between Idaho and Montana at 9600 ft. My family loves it. No functional issues for us either, tires are about done, but a lot of our riding here is on pavement/hard pack at 40-50 mph. Biggest complaint would be that there is no camber adjustment on the tires. For those of us on pavement it causes pretty bad un-even tire wear.

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  3 роки тому +1

      Glad to hear it! A lot of my riding is on pavement/hard pack too. I love these SunF tires for that reason. Plus I can rotate them. I have noticed so far that these new tires are wearing very evenly.

    We have the same one. 2021. Over 1200 miles and have had 0 issues. Most are not easy miles. We love ours. We did purchase the five year warranty. I can only assume it will have a minimum of 6/8 thousand miles at that point or more. We also use it like a car.

    Just got mine from 4seasons motor sports in payson. Can’t wait to pick it up and start playing! These videos you’re putting out are helpful in terms of potential upgrades and what to look for as I break it in.
    I bought the 2020 Ranger Crew XP1000 premium camo pursuit. Sweet looking ride.
    I noticed you haven’t put hard doors on yet. If you plan to, what do you have in mind? I think initially I’ll go with the roof, mirrors and lights for upgrades, then I’ll focus on windshield, rear glass or poly, and then doors.

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  3 роки тому

      Congrats! I bought a Can Am from them recently. I do hope this video series is helpful. I'm sure you'll enjoy your XP1000. I do not plan to install hard doors - I have decided that I prefer the air movement through the cabin and the more open-cabin feel for the type of riding we do. I like your plan, and I admit that I've gone about things a little oddly because most folks install a windshield as one of their first upgrades. Now that it's chilly out, I really want a windshield, just haven't chosen one yet. I LOVE that we can so easily street legal these things in AZ. FYI - I love the street legal kit I installed on my machine, it's great. Also love my wheel/tire package.

    Hey man, like your videos. I actually just bought a 2020 Xp Crew Premium Ranger 2 weeks ago. It’s the first off road vehicle I have ever had. I actually live in Arizona also, up in the Anthem area. So do you like the Ranger more so then the General? I’m also looking for some places to go for rides out here in Arizona.

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  3 роки тому

      Thanks Ryan! Congrats on your new XP! Those are gorgeous. AZ is such a great place to ride, I love it. Are you going to get yours street-legal so you can ride it everywhere? That's what I did. Yes, but that is a tricky question... If I were going to the sand dunes with several friends or kids, I'd prefer the General. But when I take my whole family (six people) on a ride exploring the AZ backcountry, I prefer the Ranger. The Ranger has the six large/comfortable seats I need, it's quiet, and it has the huge bed to haul camp chairs, a canopy, and two ice chests with food/drinks.

      Thanks man. Yes, the storage on the Ranger still impresses me. So much room back there. Yeah, I watched your video on the turn signals and license plate. I’ll probably do the same thing at some point. Have you ever been to Table Mesa up the 17? I hear lots of people ride out there. Keep up the great videos, I like em and learn lots about this new hobby from them.

    Nice rig. Do your wheels all have the same offset? I went with all four wheels and tires the same on my 2010 Ranger, but added some spacers on the rear. Again, nice rig.

      @@SouthwestORV Thanks for your prompt reply. Did I hear you correctly? You bought your Ranger in OK but had to pay AZ sales tax on it? I live in El Centro, California, about an hour west of Yuma. If I buy in AZ do I have to pay CA sales tax? DAMN!!!!!

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  3 роки тому +1

      You're welcome. So my understanding is that law now requires that you pay state sales tax somewhere, and in this case, in the state where it's registered. So yes, I bought it out the door for like $14,299 in OK, then paid AZ state sales tax and registration in AZ. But, I saved myself a lot of money because if I had bought in AZ, I would have paid LOCAL sales tax (county plus community) which would have been much more.

    Did you need to have a tune done after the tires and wheels?

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  3 роки тому +1

      No sir. The research I did indicated that this engine is torquey enough to handle the added weight/size of the new wheels and tires. In my experience it does fine, for my purposes for the machine. But, you can feel that the throttle response suffered slightly, so if you wanted to retain a factory/stock feel, you'd have to do a tune. I just really like the relaxed performance/tuning of this machine because I use it as a recreational family hauler and I love that it has such good manners. In my case, if I was going for a sportier higher-revving machine, I would have gone with the 82hp XP 1000. Hope this helps!

    My wife and I just ordered a 2023 Ranger 1000 (not XP). Whats the one piece of advice you can give me to keep this thing running in top shape and to have as good as luck as you're having? Also, somehow make me feel better about spending the extra $$ on the 1000 vs the 570 we were planning on ordering. Thanks!!

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for watching! And congrats on your new machine. So far our machine has given me no reason to doubt it. I'll publish a video review of it soon, now that we're 2.5 years in and almost 3000 miles. If you're going to be going over rough terrain and rocks, get the wheel/tire package I have, it made a hug difference for not dragging and hitting/scraping rocks on the bottoms. Change air filter often, it's easy! And change oil when it says to. Besides that...park it indoors. I think parking a machine outdoors in the elements is the greatest factor to early wear/tear, etc. Hope this helps!

      @@SouthwestORV hey thank you I appreciate the info!! I was wondering, can you do me a giant favor? I asked the salesman and he isn’t giving me much help on this (probably cuz he knows he made the sale already), would you by any chance be able to measure for me the distance from the very front to the back of the back wheel?? The specs say it’s 152” long overall, but I’m wondering if I back it on my 12’ trailer if the bed overhangs and I butt the wheels up as far as possible if it’ll fit. My gut says it will. I have to imagine that bed overhangs more than 6”. I know that’s asking a huge favor, but man I’d really appreciate it. Going to pick it up next Tuesday and I’m trying to make sure my trailer will work. Thank u again!!

    What's the top speed on your ranger?

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  3 роки тому +1

      Factory governed to 57mph. With the stock tires it would cruise down the highway happily at 57mph. With these larger/heavier wheels and tires it cruises happily at about 50mph. Both are plenty fast for my intended use of the machine. Even though top speed suffers a little with larger and heavier wheels/tires, I would do it again in a heartbeat for all of the benefits of the new wheel/tire setup.

      My stickers are fine, the only ones that began to peel are the reflector stickers on the front corners. But they were peeling before I left the dealer. The rest of the stickers have stayed 100%. Are you pressure washing yours? I have heard/seen that pressure washing these machines will remove the stickers.

    • @carverdidit
      @carverdidit 3 роки тому +1

      Southwest ORV yes, I do use a small electric pressure washer. I talked to my dealer to see if they could get it replaced on warranty and I will try not to pressure wash those spots again.

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  3 роки тому

      Sounds good. I use regular hose pressure out of a hand-held nozzle that allows me to mist or spray, but I do not pressure-wash my machine. I noticed the owners manual warned against it as well. For what that's worth.

    • @carverdidit
      @carverdidit 3 роки тому +2

      I guess it’s a bit different in the desert. I live in south Louisiana and the mud is like cement 😂 the pressure washer barely gets it off.

    • @SouthwestORV
      @SouthwestORV  3 роки тому +1

      That's a good observation. Here we get TONS of powdery dust, but it washes right away...and I avoid mud whenever I can. But I know back there the riding is completely different.
