This is exactly how hype works. You wish for a game to be something, and then it isn't. Just to lower your expectations, it's a game from Quantic Dream, they do adventure games, it's gonna be a quick time event adventure game with great branching story, not an action opoen world rpg.

Quantic Dream really nailed the tone and atmosphere of the trailer. You could so easily have mistaken this for a live-action Star Wars movie. This is what happens when EA isn't involved, and the license branches out

it's insane being constantly reminded of how useless & incompetent EA really is when it comes to game development in general.. *they had the entirety of star wars in their grasp FOR A DECADE.* & said "let's do 2 half-assed remakes - both of which will be burning heaps of trash, & then a single player story driven game out of reluctantance because the other 2 did so poorly." you take that away & within 6 months get a kotor remake reveal & a quantic dream project.. unreal
Don’t forget a Ubisoft Star Wars game and a rumored mando game from Xbox. We truly are now finally getting what we should have got for the last decade.
That's…not how game development works. Not defending EA at all for failure to capitalise, but there is definitely mild reasoning.
Fallen Order was in development far longer than both EA Battlefronts (and the Battlefront games weren’t remakes either, great job on getting that wrong too). Also, Star Wars Squadrons was also one, so you missed an entire game. Granted, some blame definitely does come from EA's incompetence as to be expected (cancelling a game of and shutting down an entire studio for downright stupid reasoning), but considering EA isn’t a studio exclusively dedicated to Star Wars, they didn’t have too bad a record in number of games. Also to be considered is that both Battlefront games and Squadrons were supported post launch as well, so they did have content there too.
Also worth mentioning, neither of these reveals showed gameplay (in fact, virtually no Star Wars games since the license opened up have show gameplay in their reveal trailers), they’re still almost certainly in insanely early development, so don't go saying “within 6 months we got 2 NEW Star Wars Games revealed” when that itself means nothing without a release window of those two games. It could take 5 years to get them both and nothing else alongside, but we don't know that yet.
And naturally, opening up the license to more companies will obviously only increase the number of games in active development, that's just common logic. One studio with numerous properties is obviously not going to be able to dedicate every studio to one licensed property, even if frustratingly we know that property would print money. The choice to grant the license to EA (and later allow other companies to use it too) was Disney's call, not EA's, even if the controversy of Battlefront 2 may have indirectly improved the future of Star Wars games by forcing the mouse's hand.
It was all so shit it’s not defendable, 4 games in a 10 year period while you have the license to one of the biggest names is the gaming / movie industry is mind boggling

Both of the Battlefront games are good. The first one was very content deprived, but a solid game. The second one, despite having a terrible TERRIBLE start, has been completely revamped and updated purely through the will of the developers who wanted to give the fans a game worthy of the title. Also while I personally hated Jedi Fallen Order, it was near universally loved by Star Wars fans.

I totally agree. I thought for sure in the marketplace they used live action actors and cgi ones. But I guess not? Crazy how far its come for animation. Like the one guy hauling the stick over his shoulder legitimately fooled me 100%. A first for me. Well done game studio.
They're finally making a Star Wars game for the adults who grew up with it! No more child-friendly graphics, bright and bubbly environments, and simple mechanics. Give us the darkness, the complicated Mass Effect-esque galaxy-wide consequences in single player, and a multiplayer that's not an afterthought. Hopefully they use an instanced multiplayer structure where you're multiplayer but have a custom experience based on your choices.
If we can travel between planets without having to fast travel from a port then I’ll be 100% happy. Also I hope they allow us to choose our race and we make our journey.

Man there is so much that I can think of that they could do for a real Open World Star Wars game. I can legit picture what I want in a Star Wars game. I’m sick of walk through a and sick of the call of duty aspect of Star Wars. I want a open world where I can travel planet to planet in a ship. Or change my characters race or role. I want to be able to play against other players as well. Make it almost like Red Dead online or even Ghost Recon Breakpoint kind of style.
In some of the story focused games, they may have a multiplayer that they plan to build up over time. Like older games use to. I would personally like to see a in depth For Honor style star wars fighting game

nice game , and i loved the fact that there was this square where players in real time was waiting for battles and mean time they could duel eachother right there in that square with another 30-40 players just watching u 2 fight :)

@@thaiylooze8217 Me too. However, Single player (only) games died as soon as the internet became a thing. Multiplayer and live service are more common now a days. But as long as there is still single player campaign and stories (such as Battlefront 2 and Squadrons) and you don't need to stay online to play these story modes, I am still a happy man...

better do some research on quantum dream and the games theyve made. the trailer makes this game look like it could have combat but i almost guarantee its just talking and moving

I think this proves that literally ANYONE makes better Star Wars games than EA. If you cant sell Star Wars then you cant sell anything at all. This was proven with their latest Battlefield launch. A golden age of Star Wars games is coming in the next few years after the exclusivity contract ends.

Take a look at the tower in the background of the two Jedi fighting. It looks exactly like the tower from Bogano in Fallen Order. There might be some interconnections between the two games
I 100% agree with you as do need more Multiplayer Star Wars games , I myself like both Single & Multiplayer titles so "Star Wars Battlefront 2" I'll still keep playing and titles like "Star Wars: Eclipse" I will look forward to as they'll add new backstory info for the 'SW Prequel Trilogy Films' even if it is based some years earlier.

The trailer looks amazing. From the description, I got the Detroit: Become Human meets Star Wars kinda vibes, meaning that you will play as various characters in the Star Wars Universe making crucial decisions along the way that could have consequences later in the game.
Yea, on my first run of Detroit, I accidentally killed Kira, when I go for a cup of coffee and that fat pig killed her. So I want to start the game over. And game pushed me trough that girl from welcome page to not to do so, because its important to run trough the story just like it is. So I did. But I wont lie you, huuuuge meta, man ;)))
SWTOR is still up and running and receiving content. I personally don't play it and I know the playerbase isn't that large anymore but there IS an active Star Wars multiplayer game out.
It's an awesome game too...it does need an updating as far as optimization but gameplay wise it's very good

I could not recommend listening to the High Republic novels on audible they are fantastic. The voice acting is amazing and with sound effects making sound like a movie. The books are also amazing and do get pretty dark I am still sad about how they left off the light of the jedi novel.
Can I just get an MMO or even looter-shooter type of Star Wars game where I can create my own jedi/sith/bounty Hunter etc.. and actually have really fun content that’s more up to date?

@@bobbythorton7693 how do I need to elaborate? Single player games are actually fun for themselves. BF was fun, but only because I had friends to play with, and that goes about the same for all MP games. They just aren't as fun or as good an experience as single player games.

The kind of people that prefer multiplayer also usually only play that multiplayer game before moving on to the next. They don't play games for their selves, they play them for the social experience. That's why most multiplayer games lose over half their playerbase in a single week. That's why most multiplayer games lose 70+% of their base in a month. But for actual experience that people can say they remember, by ratings, by actually relaxing and enjoying your time, single player games are better in just about every aspect.

Nice video! - I do have to day I I opposite when it comes to the single player multiplayer thing- I feel to many companies lately have been hyper focused on multiplayer and tend to sideline the story elements that fans want, ie battlefront 2. I was glad when fallen order came out and gave us a solid single player experience (not saying that I wouldn't love a multiplayer tied in, like jedi outcast did back in the day) I just want the core game to be solid but yes so much balance needed (;
Single player is a great option to have but, the real fun is playing with friends and fans. I know it must be a struggle as a dedicated content creator. You’re still killing it with videos though. I always appreciate the coverage.

Thing is, I really dislike quantic dream's other games, they are really not my thing, so I am super worried it's going to be a quicktime event game like their others. If It's an action adventure game then i'm really excited, they could even do something like gta v with the switchable characters or something.
Yeah, that's why I was disapointed when I saw the quantic dream logo at the end of the trailer.. it's mostly a QTE game with branching dialogues/paths.

I think the 14th was supposed to be the old republic expansion (which has been delayed recently). It was originally meant to come out on the 14th. Of course another game may be announced, but we may also get nothing.
I totally agree there is no balance we etheir get multi player all the time like with the last generation were 2/3 of the SW games that we got were multi-player or now we are getting fully single player . and I'm all for single player i actually complained that we didn't get a lot of story driven games back in the there's gotta be balance .

I am really mixed on this, on one hand new Star Wars games is great even if it will not be realesed until 2024(More than likely) and the trailer looks visually awesome. On the other hand I have played all of Quantic dreams games, and while they looked cool I did not enjoy the game play(I know this has action in it but its hard for studios to pivot like that). I also don't like games that make you play through them multiply times to get the story(I am looking at you Neir Automata). However these issues are mostly my own concerns so this may not be the game for me then.

I would imagine they want the game to be the intro to the earlier republic stories so it may not be but it also could be . HR has a few years of books planned and a ending decided so this may be during the tipping point at the end of the story where things start getting rocky for everyone
I doubt it to be honest the higher public books are subpar and have some plot holes. Like they knew about the south temple under the Jedi temple and some how Yoda and everyone else forgets about it in only 200 years. Also they use a Jedi ritual at a sigh temple. Really wierd.

I am so glad the licence has opened up. EA did absoloutely nothing if you look at the resources they have they could of like at least like 5-10 great games. They only made 1 great (Jedi fallen order) 2 they had to save (both battlefronts) and a scummy money making cash grab(star wars squadrons). These other companies are already making or what seems to be incredible games in what!??LESS THAN A YEAR. This time will truly reveal how big a brand star wars can be!!!
Squadrons wasn't a cash grab... It was a $40 game with no microtransactions and it was pretty fucking good for what it was.

When you start you can choose if you want to be light side or dark side, or you can be a bounty hunter and you can visit every planet and have online.
I love single player games so this is looking pretty good for me. Although I see how a lot of people will want a multiplayer star wars game.
Thanks for the upload. As a 42yr old man who grew up with the movies on VHS back in the days and played a good amount of SW games and knowing it might be a niche genre nowdays but we desperately another *proper* sw mmo. Considering we didn't have one since Galaxies and please don't even get me going with Swtor. Fyi I did play it before it became f2p so kinda at start and granted the stories ARE amazing, especially since you get many unique stories with different side/advanced class...it's still just a single player game, with some small mp aspects.
It may have been a "mmo" in the start but considering what it turned out to be, a sp driven game so once the story is done, well you get my point. WTB mmo, not endless sp SW games!
I see where you're coming from but on a personal level I'm single player games all the way. If they did a Battlefront 3 or something online that looks fun enough I'd pick it up and give it a go but I never stick with games like for too long and it ends up just been a waste of my money.

After the ages and ages of multi-slaughter drek that has been the norm. It's refreshing to see SW games that are single player again
Trust me, the books are definitely not watered down, they’re very dark. And if you don’t like reading you could try audiobooks
So I just wanted to pause the video and mention something. I take long drives for work usually 3-4 hours a week, and that is before actual work hours, so when I dont have the time to read I use audio books, and trust me, its a good place if you dont have the time to read or dont want to read the high republic books, I was on the fence about them for the longest time, but if reading isnt your perfered medium or you dont have the chance, check them out as audio books.

I would love it if they went ahead with Star Wars 1313. I remember Disney canceled it a number of years ago when they bought the franchise. However this is a different time, and if even if they started from scratch and used the Unreal 4 or 5 engine the game would actually be better than originally intended. I look forward to this game though...looks like it's gonna be a good year.
