That's right, it's a mere consequence of her being the goddess related to all things shunned and disgusted by "conventional" human beings. Going even further, I could even say she's in control of this unconscious sphere of our mind where all desires condemned by status quo are left to rot.
Yea, as the god of the repulsive stuff shunned by mainstream society, ironically making legal and socially acceptable the pratice of his cultists would turn her from such pratice. I can even see her being absurdly a goddess of kindess and nobility in some extremelly decadent society where vice and brutality are celebrated as the norm. Namira is repulsiveness itself. There will always be repulsive behaviours thoughts and beings, and Namira gives her followers acceptence over them. Marundiir ... I’m pretty sure you can’t kill and eat sapient people and still be counted among the ‘good’ guys. That’s the point of cannibalism, it’s an unbelievably evil and unsociable act.
Ruth Nield Not necessarily. Murder is evil sure, but not cannibalism in and of itself. If the person is already dead, there are some cultures that practice (or at least used to practice) mortuary cannibalism, wherein the body is consumed by the tribe directly, rather than being buried and returning to nature that way. I mean technically, if you've ever eaten food grown on a farm that is over the site of a forgotten burial ground, you've eaten food fertilized by people. There's also the practice of using "night soil", or human feces as fertilizer. Human meat as food source is, scientifically and literally speaking, no different than any other meat, and human feces as fertilizer is no different than the use of any other species feces (ha, it rhymes) as fertilizer; its just that Western civilization has attributed negative meanings to it. The only problem with it is the medical risk factors, like getting a prion disease from eating an infected human's meat, particularly the brain. It's the same problem as eating beef from a cow with Mad Cow, or any other contaminated meat. Also, don't eat raw meat of any kind. The way I interpret the Ring of Namira is that it negates any disease risk factors from eating raw human meat, and yes increases the nutritional value without the need to cook it. The only evil act here is the cold-blooded murder of the priest of Arkay
On my sort of crusader/daedra slayer run, I led the Priest of Arkay to the trap, leading on all the worshipers, and from there I slew all those at the feast with my hammer.
So she's the life goddesses. Decaying things give nutrition to plants. The things in the dirt and darkness are at the literal foundation of life and growing thing on earth.
Omg thank you, someone pointed this out! Without decaying organisms nourishing the plants, we, other omnivores, and herbivores wouldn't have plants to eat, and the only way organisms decay is through microorganisms, worms, maggots, etc. eating and digesting them. It is entirely a part of the circle of life, there is no reason to fear any of this. Don't know if you've ever listened to the band Incubus Succubus (they are a pagan goth band, so for a really specific audience) but their concept album Viva La Muerte, all about Dia de los Muertos, is excellent, I highly recommend it, particularly the songs Emergence, Live to Hate, and Decaying Beauty
I personally believe the Deadric Princes work like energy, or color, they don't have an end in the spectrum, rather, they have change, for instance how hot steam turns a turbine, that heat energy becomes then kinetic energy, as you suggest, I do not believe she is influences rot & decay but, keep in mind that the natural order is the domain of Perite, & he in turn, then makes it so the rot can feed the wildlife. This is only my viewpoint on things but I always believe that seeing someone else's perspective, can always aid my own.
Also if things didn't decay we'd have massive piles and piles of dead things EVERYWHERE. That includes things like leaves, excrement, etc. Eventually there would be far too much for anything to live in the world.
Except, there is no evidence whatsoever that she believes in balance or cycles of life or anything like that. She believes in decay only as a winding down of life, and never as a source of renewal. There is nothing like fecundity in her philosophy. Life isn't supposed to thrive under Nemira. She isn't about culling the weak to feed the strong. She isn't about dying to gain new life. She's just ultimately about entropy, misery, and suffering.
Ima just watch all your vids on an around 10 hour car ride. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFULL AND INFORMATIONAL ELDER SCROLLS VIDEOS. Also I love you guys and your vids
It's sort of funny how Namira and Arkay are at odds, but they both feed of each other. Without rot and decay new life would not find nourishment. Sure Namira stands for something despicable and to most taboo, but she is also one of the most necessary deadric princes along with Azura and Meridia.
Well, her realm of oblivion sounds about as bad as some insane asylums, just minus the psychosocial torture aspect, so I think she's already halfway there!.. Just gotta find her that breath-mint now..
Dude 11/10 on that intro (aprox 1 min) the generic part leading to the word vagrants. And now that video is done you just rocked my entire head cannon with great points (and may have actually changed my life! Weird but true)
Although Namira is DEFINITELY not worthy of being worshipped, the fact that one of the things that she rules over is decay actually makes her very important, to the point that, IF NOT FOR her more disgusting aspects, would make her worthy of worship. That is because, without decay and rot, the dead would remain in tact, and there would soon be no room left for the living, and all that is alive would have long ago died. As a side note, her statue in Oblivion is not exactly what one would expect her to look like given what her spheres of influence are. Just saying.
+Dustwarewolf 55 ....The Daedric princes are not responsible for the basic fundamental rules and functions of the Mundas or the human Universe. A lot of their names, titles and assumed persona of the princes is nothing more than that...assumed by the populace based on their perception of the gods. Humans are making these associations. As for Namira, I think the idea is that she aligns with things that are widely considered undesirable or repugnant. It's why she 'gifted' weedle with gross looking illnesses, made people look over him or feel sorry for how pathetic he appeared to be. Her statue in Oblivion is basically a less 90s re imagining of what she looked like in Daggerfall. She had the big, thick mess of blonde or light brown hair, the very loose and extremely long flowing black robe. In Oblivion they toned done the hair to look more like a hollywood medieval movie and the statue itself is colourless.
The spheres of influence are metaphorical. They don't actually contol the way things work in the world to that degree. Rot and decay would still happen if Namira did not exist.
I am going to have to disagree with the spheres of influence of any of the three groups of deities in the world of The Elder Scrolls being metaphorical. That is because, in the lore, during The First Era, a fanatical/heretical denomination of The Alesian Order, called The Marukhakti Selective, attempted to fourcably alter Akatosh, The Dragon God of Time, so as to remove any and all elven aspects from his being. They did this by having thousands upon thousands of them praying for months on end for it to be so. The power of their heretical prayers becoming so powerful that it became almost enough to kill Akatosh, the very deity that they were attempting to forcibly alter via prayer. With Akatosh near-death, Time itself, Akatosh's sphere of influence, began to unravel itself, becoming unlinear for an amount of time unknowable, but arbitually described as 1008 years long. This was The Middle Dawn, the longest and most severe Dragon Break to ever occur. The accounts of it are too confusing to list here, as I should probably get to the point. The very fact that the near death of the deity whose sphere of influence is time almost caused time's destruction, is proof that the deities are in fact somehow responsible for the spheres of influence that they govern, because otherwise, The Middle Dawn would never have occurred.
Well- I only heard positives! Namira has been my favorite Daedric prince for multiple games and her presence in my favorite non-Morrowind city, Markarth, only cements my preferences further. My favorite part of playing Skyrim was Eola coming to my wedding, so my worship of charity and depravity is not stopping anytime soon and I can't wait for the skittering void!
Namira's ring has saved me more times than I can count. I still use potions and I still carry food too. But when push comes to shove, and the only way to survive is to take a bite out of some badguys that are already dead, believe that dead guy will be supper
By now, enough people have corrected your Pokemon joke that I don't feel the need to further iterate the point. I do however want you to know, that the premise of the joke was funny. If only you had landed the punchline.
Baal: *turns pure hearted to unforgivable evil, rapes and murders violently* Fudge: Baal has reason to his madness Namira: Makes cannibalism is a land full of death a viable option for nourishment, makes scary things seem okay Fudge: UNFORGIVABLE.
@Hoàng Nguyên What? They didn't "hibernate", they died. The reason they just piddle about in their chambers instead of doing anything of worth is that they're nothing but mindless undead now, just like the draugr.
Hoàng Nguyên dragon priests are not liches, they are magically powerful Draugr. Draugr, unlike other mindless undead are capable of magic. Think of Draugr as mummies instead of zombies.
I think a core part of Namira worship is shedding away your shame - she frees her children, her followers from it and enables them to revel in their depravity instead of suffering from it. Worshipping Namira promises a certain kind of freedom no other daedric prince can offer. I quite enjoyed her little quest, and will always stay a secret worshipper of the lady of decay.
Namira had the wrong person, I'm a necromancer, I prefer my bodies to be whole and in working order. Just cause the departed aren't going to use their flesh anymore doesn't mean I won't.
James Davies When I need to. Every named quest character whose death was unavoidable found a home in my house basement next to the shrine to the Divines. One part burial mound- one part Zerg army storage. Quite appropriate to have Sasusan the Wicked’s corpse kill The butcher and then have both of them march home with me.
Oh... Good. Apparently, according to you, Molag Baal (the most evil Daedric Prince, also according to you) deserves more worship over Namira. I don't know about you, but I'd take the smell of rot and the sounds of insect legs over literally ANYTHING that goes on in Coldharbour. DON'T WORSHIP HER. My ass. Besides, Namira only represents the most vile things in the eyes of the general public. Take cannibalism, for example: It is actually a known practice in Valenwood (something about how Bosmer are taught to never let anything in nature go to waste), so most Bosmer that uphold those traditions don't interest her in the slightest. Imagine if the whole populace of Tamriel was pretty chill about the most typical disgusting things you can imagine, and people suddenly thought that something like, I dunno, kittens were gross, vile, and undesirable. At that point, kittens would be among the things that Namira holds value or interest in. Namira values the CONCEPT of disgust, not the actual *things* themselves. As a side note, I'm just going to let that whole Weedle evolving into Metapod "joke" go because I firmly believe that was just you trolling us. If you really *didn't* know that basic Gen 1 knowledge that could have easily been verified with a Google search, I'm going to start questioning the integrity of this show.
Agreed. Even in real life, there have been cultures that practice cannibalism and do not see it as being vile or evil in any way, in fact the most common type of cannibalism is mortuary cannibalism, which is just a different kind of funeral rite than burial or cremation.
Insects and Arachnids are living beings and natural, though. They are no different to any other living creature. Shouldn't Daedra who love and appreciate Nature and Life and Light, along with similar Aedra, protect them too?
Namira is the antagonist in the mod Beyond: Reach. You get to visit her plane of Oblivion not once or twice, but at least thrice. And, yeah, it's revulsing.
Personally I've always found an odd appeal within Namira. A caring spirit for those who have never seen care, for those who have always been within repulsion whether they can help it or not.

Marundiir Oh, does that mod allow you to get the ring without murdering an innocent priest? That's awesome!
Ruth Nield Oh, and I think you mean anti-social act
At least she is better than Molag Bal. But still she is festy af.
Nobody is better than Lord Bal.
Aitor Rosell all hail molag bal the prince of kindness.
I mean he did create vampires whereas Namira created cannibals. You guess which is more badarse.
@@SirDankleberry Cannibals don't burn in the sun and I want to chew.

Don't worship her. She's just here to distract you worship sheogorath. Namira is temporary sheogorath is eternal
Except when he's not. But even then, someone's gotta be Sheogorath. And who better than Sheogorath himself. So he'll always be him even when he isn't.

The scent of death... Cheese... Repulsive scents and fetishes...
On my sort of crusader/daedra slayer run, I led the Priest of Arkay to the trap, leading on all the worshipers, and from there I slew all those at the feast with my hammer.
“Namira is the devouring mother.”
What a boss yet unsettling quote!
"A Playground For Maggots" is an absolutely stellar name for an album
"Namira is nurturing to the outcasts, so long as they stay outcasts" she's gonna LOVE me FOREVER
😐... ok
"is dark and full of terrors" Okay Melisandre your god isn't that much better. love the videos!
I love this channel so much! Lore is the best part of this game series.
Bruh Weedle evolves into Kakuna, but i appreciated the joke
It's sort of funny how Namira and Arkay are at odds, but they both feed of each other. Without rot and decay new life would not find nourishment. Sure Namira stands for something despicable and to most taboo, but she is also one of the most necessary deadric princes along with Azura and Meridia.
Does anyone think she needs a breath mint and an insane asylum?
Well, her realm of oblivion sounds about as bad as some insane asylums, just minus the psychosocial torture aspect, so I think she's already halfway there!.. Just gotta find her that breath-mint now..
I think she needs a “shower” if you know what I mean
Exactly my point, also new life can not find nourishment without her. Arkay and her need each other.
You should see how she appears in person in Daggerfell.
"The devil plays the best tunes " - Sir Christopher Lee. I 💓 Namira , that voice alone is soo intimidating.
Weedle evolves into Kakuna into KAKUNA! That is all
*he says, as I just started a Namira's Champion role playthrough... Great vid and all hail Namira!
@6:28 Actually it's Caterpie who evolves into Metapod, Weeble evolves into Kakuna...
By Azura, this is one of my favorite youtube channels ever. great work fellas
So I guess the Wood Elves who hold the green pact and practice cannibalism would not have a problem with Namira.
Sadly its the only way to roleplay a Green Pact Bosmer.
Tranz Cat I swear your everywhere

Kakuna, sir! Weedle evolves into Kakuna!
Every single video is always high quality and enjoyable, keep up the excellent work!
Weedle doesnt evolve into metapod he evolves into kakuna
Weedle the rich beggar
Imagine being so humbled by a beggar to give him a few coins while hes wearing a fit from the radiant raiment
Baal: *turns pure hearted to unforgivable evil, rapes and murders violently*
Fudge: Baal has reason to his madness
Namira: Makes cannibalism is a land full of death a viable option for nourishment, makes scary things seem okay
Fudge: UNFORGIVABLE.
Ha Ha Ha. I like the line "Deadra's Advocate".
Kakuna, not Metapod. But....your point was made.
"Evolves into metapod" I CHOKED ON MY WATER
I do what I want! You're not my dad!
And that's where you're wrong kiddo.
Jordan Green I’m not but akatosh is
@Hoàng Nguyên how so?
I love this game more and more because of this channel! I just started this year.
You messed up the Pokémon reference...Weedle does not evolve into Metapod... it evolves into Kakuna.
...I expected better from you
Mouse Trap absolutely despicable
He was troll for comments I’m betting.
This is all true, the humble is over looked, information is most valuable, and as you your argument is perfect I watched it come together in the video
Fudgemuppet: DO NOT WORSHIP HER
Me: What if I wanna?
Namira had the wrong person, I'm a necromancer, I prefer my bodies to be whole and in working order. Just cause the departed aren't going to use their flesh anymore doesn't mean I won't.
As long as their head is still attached to their body, you can raise them with their full potential intact. And you call yourself a necromancer....
One does not eat their puppets, that's just shotty showmanship. I have standards, their not high, but I got um.
Well if you can keep the muscles they'd be better than skellies at least
Mese Ktet so m guessing you have the ritual stone army?
James Davies When I need to. Every named quest character whose death was unavoidable found a home in my house basement next to the shrine to the Divines. One part burial mound- one part Zerg army storage. Quite appropriate to have Sasusan the Wicked’s corpse kill The butcher and then have both of them march home with me.
“Snack on a fellow human for the underdog.” That’s a weird flex, Namira.
Weedle evolves into Kakuna. I'm triggered!!!!
namira was always my favorite prince, i guess that says something about me
How dare you insult my religion “takes bite of heart”
"The Devouring Mother," thats a great name for her.
Wrong! Weedle evolves into Kakuna, and then into Beedrill. It's Caterpie who evolves into Metapod, and then into Butterfree.
Dead Knight Do you just assume that you're the only one who caught that and just type without reading other comments?
Your voice is so much easier on the ears than the others. ♡
I agree, cause eating people is nasty.
Kailey Barrett Light from darkness, hope from hopelessness. In Arkay's name, I pray.
I seriously love fudgemuppet, I’d travel to the deepest depths of oblivion to meet this scholarly trio
Since your last video I have started to worship the deadra in real life
The night is dark and full of terrors, old man. But the fire burns them all away.
Oh...
We talkin' long pig over here?
AwesomeBeedrill shut the hell up wierdo

Like Aghori
You're going to start questioning the integrity of an Elder Scrolls channel because they lack knowledge of Pokemon? That sounds a bit silly to me.
I just like the random encounters when you see a guy chowing down and invites you to join him.
Insects and Arachnids are living beings and natural, though. They are no different to any other living creature. Shouldn't Daedra who love and appreciate Nature and Life and Light, along with similar Aedra, protect them too?
A true god asserting dominance with the T pose. 3:06

I cant help but love Namira and Mephala for their associations with spiders ♡

The beggar prince has to be one of my favorite books in Skyrim because it was the first one read. It has a special place in my own personal Apocrypha.
namira has blessed me with the first view..

Namira cursed you with writing bullshit
I swear I watch this video at least once a week. Namira is surely the most interesting one
Ok, if you are gonna make a Weedle joke, do it right. Weedle doesnt evolve into Metapod, he evolves into Kakuna, you plebians.
Namira is the antagonist in the mod Beyond: Reach. You get to visit her plane of Oblivion not once or twice, but at least thrice. And, yeah, it's revulsing.
Cold harbor is looking pretty good right now, who else is offering immortality at such a low price.
Very well thought out video. Very well done man!
Personally I've always found an odd appeal within Namira. A caring spirit for those who have never seen care, for those who have always been within repulsion whether they can help it or not.
I would just as soon worship the Four Corners of the House of Troubles
