It's interesting how much the Reachmen perspective reminds me of the Dunmer worship of the Good Daedra, up to and including the trial Tamriel was intended to be for mortals.
Interesting how Khajit and Reachmen have different perspective on same story of Lorkhan association with Namira. Khajit are telling the story how Namira corrupted Lorkhan only to be cost out from his body by Azura, but Reachmen are telling the story how Lorkhan and Namira had willing alliance to manipulate Aedra and Magna Ge to crate Mundus.
@@alexinfinite7142 And that's assuming that there even IS a single truth that each culture's stories evolved from The creation of the world... that could easily have been a dragonbreak. And that's assuming that time held any real meaning prior to the creation of Mundus
@Tom C. Id never thought of this idea before but it actually makes a lot of sense. Really less of a dragon break and more of a "there is no dragon yet" but the result is the same. No concept of strict linear time being in place means any number of alternate events
I recall reading on UESP that the Reachmen shun deities like Clavicus Vile and Sanguine because they represent aspects of civilization that the Reachmen find weak and detestable. So their worldview is very different, and instead of seeing things as good or evil, they see them in terms of utility and results. To them, cruelty is the greatest kindness and kindness is the greatest cruelty because cruelty will teach you to be strong and fight back but kindness will make you weak and complacent.
@Heathen Heisler Shame it makes so little mechanical difference in The Reach proper, tho... well, save for Druadach Redoubt after that business in Markarth... Anyway, you using Hendraheim as a player home, or counting Lakeview Manor?
@@seand.g423 It depends on my play through and how I want the character to go. Sometimes no house, sometimes a house, if the character leaves the struggle to liberate the Reach behind and starts a new life.
You know, seeing all these different interpretations of the Daedra and of the metaphysics of the Elder Scrolls world, I _really_ wish we'd see more of this in the gameplay and less in literature. I wanna see the main character experience and truly _live_ these different interpretations and make the player truly question what's going on instead of just more "Daedra bad". I get that the games need to be accessible to the general audience, but I still think there's a reasonable balancing point between "hah, funny dragon game" and "intricate metaphysics as a product of an acid-trip".
All of this sheds some light on events in Skyrim even! The Molag Bal shrine in Markarth, a city with reachmen citizens, and the Boethiah priest being captured by forsworn. The shrub to Namira is close to Markarth and there’s all those Namira worshippers there. It’s possible that some of Markarth’s cannibals are even forsworn. Lisbet tries to brush off the commotion of Margret’s attempted murder as “just the market rabble.” Also, the pommel to Mehrunes Razor is being kept by a group of forsworn as well. AND Peryite’s Shrine is in the hills of the reach as well, located near a small forsworn village.
Also note that the House in which the Shrine of Bal is is abandoned. It's abandoned by the time we see in Skyrim, which is long after the ousting of the Forsworn from Markarth. That house was likely occupied by worshipers of Bal. Hell, they probably made the shrine to begin with. Of course the fresh food may still of course be Logrolf's doing, or it could be Forsworn Sympathizers secretly tending to the shrine in the dark hours..?
@@spikymarshmallow7611 Probably Logrolf; Molag Bal says the priest stops by regularly to perform rights and purifications on Bal's shrine and mace. That's why it's rusted and damaged by the events of Skyrim. My guess is in the 200+ years since Oblivion, the mace found its way into a Bal-worshipping Reachmen clan who eventually settled in Markarth while it was outside of Imperial control. After the Markarth Incident, Logrolf moved into town, found the shrine and began performing his rituals to keep it and Molag's influence in the area contained.
Hopefully Reach lore is expanded in TES 6, I mean it's also in Hammerfell and High Rock. The lore feels so rushed in Skyrim and ESO just expanded already existing lore.
Seems like Skyrim was supposed to give us a reachmen teaser with the forsworn and the few quests associated with them. Nothing substantial, but enough to pique our interest so that when the next game comes out we’re already invested in them. If the next game has anything to do with the western reach, of course.
Well, we don’t know where ES6 will be set. I hope it’s like Daggerfall, y’know where we could go to High Rock and Hammerfell. I just hope we get to see more of Tamriel.
"ESO just expanded already existing lore." lol what? At this point probably 2/3 or more of what we know about the Reach and Reachmen comes from ESO, so I don't know what you're talking about with "just expanded already existing lore."
@@theorderoftalos4497 What are you talking about? There's tons in ESO about the Reachmen in High Rock. There's tons about Reach magic & culture from the quests, NPCs & books in Glenumbra, there's more about them in Bangkorai (which is partly in High Rock & partly in Hammerfell), and way more in Wrothgar.
I really love the mortal challenge philosophy that a lot of races have. Like the idea that the daedra and aedra are weak because they haven’t had any hardship really vibes with me. I can imagine some edgy crazy mortal yelling at a daedra and calling them a pussy and he would be right
@@RomanStan I'd say Old Uncle Sheo might be an exception to this - if the original, he suffered the curse of the Greymarch for a heck of a long time, and then the Champion of Cyrodiil suffered a lot to mantle him. @@stunner9005 quite the opposite, firstly, the point of the reachmen is they are everything the stormcloaks claim to be but with the stormcloaks pointing them as villainous without any sense of irony Secondly what your suggesting; a semi autonomous reach is accualy worse then if windhelm got its complete independence since it cuts skyrim and the empire off from all the gold mines leading to an economic collapse all the while leaving the reach being commanded by hag ravens and briarhearts Thirdly, from a political standpoint it doesn't matter which territory rebels since any rebellion if successful lays the seeds for the next one; so if the marcarth becomes independent so will windhelm, and then dawnstar and winterhold , riften will once meaven starts seeing dollar signs, all these rebellions will force whiterun to open up to the empire just to avoid the raiding turning whiterun into a constant warzone just so the empire can try and hold solitude but can't due to being attacked on all sides and no money to pay troopes And that's not even getting into what will happen if the stormcloaks win... and then ulfric dies. who takes over after he dies, probably not someone with his wisdom and charisma and whose only thought is "kill all the non nords"
Yeah, except for two factors; 1) All the silver in the reach would rightfully be owned by the natives, not the Imperials. 2) The Reachmen are Daedra Worshipers. Not only that, but some of the most reprehensible Daedra are worshiped. By letting them have their Reach, they're condoning Daedra Worship of Molag Bal, Namira, Mehrunes Dagon and alike. Some Tribes would probably worship Vaermina or Mephala. The Dunmer and Morrowind is seldom part of the Empire (Alliances made during the Tribunal Rule), and when they are, I imagine the Imperial Pantheon was brought in to try and break the Daedric Trend (and failed, but still), because Daedra represent the very opposite values of the Empire. Azura likely escaped a lot of shit, but Boethiah and Mephala would have been the most likely targets for systemic change. They worship THREE Daedra, and do not practice Necromancy. The Reachmen do.
The Reachman are an interesting conterpart to the Dunmer. Both are Daedra worshippers who have philosophies that emphasise suffering, struggle and achievement in the world of Mundus as the correct way to achieve the preferred afterlife and understand the true purpose of life on Nirn.
I still think it would of been cool if the people of the reach still had control over it and you had to try and get them to pick a side in the civil war just for them to join as a third party on their own, attacking both stormcloaks and imperials when weak (after a long battle) right after the battle of whiterun for example
I could see them siding with the empire in return for acknowlegment of them as an independant nation and a deal similar to the dumners. Where they can at last practice there ways free. Would still be part of the empire, but apparently that was madanochs plan. To make the reach an independant province of the empire and secure the rights to worship as they please, much like the deal morrowind got. Helping put a sword thru ulfric also helps.
It’s possible this could be a future mod if any developer is willing. After the Markarth investigation, Madonach and his group can be found in a cave if the player sided with him, so a modder could theoretically create a questline similar to The Brotherhood of Old.
I absolutely love your videos I cook breakfast for my kids while watching/listening to them thank you keep weaving words in such a articulate way and I’ll keep watching
This dude has done hundreds of thorough, detailed videos on TES universe and it's lore and yet so much of TES universe is a mystery. If only more game developers were that dedicated.
Kudos! I really liked this. Especially in Skyrim, it really felt like the Reachmen/Foresworn were sorely underutilized as just cannon fodder, when they could (should) have been a significant faction with more interaction and lore. I was also kind of surprised that they hadn't formed an alliance with the Orsiner ... who were also sorely neglected in Skyrim. It seems like a whole new magic system (maybe even using stamina instead of magicka to cast) should have been developed. Along with a lot more interaction with Daedra worship. I hope that TES 6 does a better job here. There's a lot of potential.
There is this song from ESO Markarth called "Hail to the Ancient Spirits" that perfectly explains the culture of men of reach: Hail Hircine, Lord of the Hunt Master of wood and hill All things that live must chase or flee In death alone fall still Hail Namira, Spirit Queen Skein-weaver, silent midwife Each beginning must have its end Dark mother of death and life Hail to the ancient spirits Teachers, testers, weal and woe Hard lessons, but needful too For this world is full of foes Hail Molag Bal, the Prince of Pain Brutal master, lord of troubles Giver of strength to slay and strive For men are meant to struggle Hail to the ancient spirits Teachers, testers, weal and woe Hard lessons, but needful too For this world is full of foes Hail to the ancient spirits Hail to the ancient spirits

@@muslimcrusader5987 I think not, I mean look at those Reachmen. They were always looked down upon, always under constant oppression from the Empire or Skyrim rulers, just like Ireland was in my opinion. Skyrim people were never oppressed in a sense that for example Irish people were. Stormcloack Rebellion had risen mainly because of a dispute over the throne of Skyrim, it's not an independence war fought because of an oppression like it was with the IRA and like it is with Forsworn. Of course, the cult of Talos is banished, but exept that Nord culture is respected in the Empire, but Reachmen and their customs were never respected or even acknowledged but their overlords, so I think they really reassamble IRA's vibe.

Most fun I ever had playing Skyrim was when I was roleplaying a forsworn dragonborn. Lot of childhood illnesses, never managed to die. So she concluded that her thuum was the logical result of so many trials from the dragon god Peryite, and it was her job to "restore natural order" to the Reach: ie, put Reachfolk back in charge and murder Ulfric. Killing Anduin? Yeah, that sounds like a glorious hunt. More power and honor for her.
Yesterday, I was thinking about playing a Breton Forsworn. This morning, this video drops. Truly, it is a sign from the gods! Thanks for this - just what I needed. :)
Edit: Trimuvirate adds 5 magic archetypes not 15, my bad. You should get the mods: -Alternate start live another life (lets you start as a reachman) -Simple Forsworn (implements changes to the reach that should have honestly already been there) -Trade & Barter as well as faction economy (to be able to trade with forsworn exclusive merchants and have realistic prices for them) -Beyond Reach (a full DLC size mod that takes place in the reach) and last but not least -Triumvirate (which will add 15 magic archetypes to make for an immersive magic experience as a reachman)
@@nocturnered281 ah, of course. thanks for reminding me. -The Forsworn Legacy (adds a whole voiced questline for the forsworn faction. It gives you the option to start a new game as a forsworn and spawn near the main questline or use a saved game, which is more compatible with other mods. It's a little buggy in some areas with plenty of bug complaints on the mod page, and the voice acting is.. well... listen to it yourself. Overall, if you put in enough effort into the other mods I listed you can still have a pretty immersive forsworn experience, but you could have an entirely new forsworn experience if you try this mod instead of or along with the other mods I listed. To note, if you choose the new game version make sure you don't have alternate start another life, it will likely conflict hard).
I actually did the Forsworn Conspiracy/ no one escapes Cidna mine yesterday. Like a kind person, I helped Madnonach and slaughtered everyone with them.
You can also "help" Madonach right up to the point where he gives you the enchanted armor, THEN kill all the Forsworn before you properly leave the jail. This way, you get all the treasure Madonach was going to give you, AND you still get the treasure the Silver-Bloods give you for killing him, and all the citizens/merchants survive.
If I go with game design in my future I want to make a reach men mod actually getting in depth with them in the next game. The hunting lands is litterly the perfect place to build a boss filled wonderland of challenges
Old comment but not if tes 6 is in hammerfel Whilst I understand the reachmen have been in hammerfel I doubt by now that any of them still actually practice the old ways like the forsworn they've all probably assimilated into foreign cultures
The Reachmen seem quite underdeveloped compared to other tribes in TES. The notion that they live in a primative tribal society as they reject modern comforts and embrace the challenge of living off the land would certainly stifle their architectural and social development but it would encourage them to be very active traders, explorers and salvagers since they expend little time studying but would have an abundance of experience in how to provide for their needs in the most efficient way. To draw similar real world comparisons, communities that live in seclusion typically have some kind of goods or skills they specialise in to trade to nearby towns because the simple fact is that hunting us not always a reliable source of food and clothing, crops take time to mature and daily needs have to be met. Yet Reachmen don't seem to live up to their ideology of survival when they willingly choose to not do everything in their strength to be self-sufficient.
Hey Scott, Drew and Michael. I know you have made a few videos about single eras, but could you maybe make one about the whole time line? It's the one lore thing that is still hard to comprehend for me even though I know quite a bit about the lore. Maybe even talk about it in one of your podcasts. I'm probably just stupid so please tell me.
Arngeir: "I see that all are in attendance and have expressed their willingness to negotiate terms for a cease of hostilities, on invitation by the Greybeards of High Hrothgar. Albeit reluctantly." Ulfric: "I still find it hard to believe that we're allowing Elenwen to remain seated at this summit. This is sacred ground no one should tread upon unless they're willing to cleanse their boots of blood and their soul of old grudges..." Elenwen: "That is why we are all here, if I'm not mistaken." Rikke: "Enough, please. We cannot afford to be sidetracked right now. General Tullius?" Tullius: "Yes, I've read through the initial demands and proposals submitted by Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak and his compatriots within the ruling class of Skyrim. Jarl Laila Law-Giver of Riften has expressed her willingness to abdicate if the Empire is able to meet the terms of an equal exchange. Though according to the available documentation, those terms are fully open to negotiation." Elisif: "Personally I'm shocked that it would even appear so easy." Galmar: "Hmph. It won't be." Ulfric: "If we give up the Rift, we want the Reach in return. One of the Silver-Blood clan would sit on the Mournful Throne." Tullius: "You would have to be crazy to want that Hold in it's current state! I'll disclose that the Empire values those lands for the silver it produces and exports, but every other trade avenue is disrupted. If it weren't for this Civil War we would have sent a couple of Legions to quell the Forsworn, already." Ulfric: "A war within a war. Yes, that region of Skyrim has always proven problematic, but while our forces aren't occupied with the Imperial Legion we can dedicate half of them towards dealing with the Forsworn. More manpower than you'd be able to muster on short notice. It would help everyone involved." Esbern: "If I might interject. I believe the Dragonborn may have a unique insight on the subject and could offer another solution." Delphine: "That's right. He owns a residence in Markarth, if I'm not mistaken." Tullius: "This ought to be interesting. I'm willing to hear almost any ideas at this point." Galmar: "Ha! Interesting indeed. From what intelligence we have, the Dragonborn killed old Madanach, himself." Elenwen: "What? The Thalmor have not confirmed any of these events, yet. Although there has been increased Forsworn activity within Markarth." Tullius: "You might want to look into who you have stationed in Markarth. Anyway. Dragonborn, you're one of Jarl Igmund's Thanes. What input can you offer for all of this?" Dragonborn: "Every major Forsworn Redoubt can function as their own city state. If we grant the native people independence to that end, I would support the Stormcloaks holding the Reach." Tullius: "That is outrageous! If we allowed that, there would be a fractured Hold on the verge of collapse on the doorstep of the provincial Capitol!" Ulfric: "I have to agree with Tullius. If the Reach does fall under my sphere of influence, I can tell you right now, the Stormcloaks will crush the Forsworn! Not offer an olive branch of truce." Galmar: "Could it be due to the Dragonborn's bloodline that he offers this proposal? He is a Breton, though not native to Skyrim." Elenwen: "I will commit whatever Thalmor I can spare towards assisting whomever controls the Reach in neutralising the Forsworn." Ulfric: "No one asked you, Witch!" Elisif: "The Dragonborn is right." Tullius: "Jarl Elisif? You agree with his proposal?" Elisif: "Yes, I do. Skyrim itself has been fractured ever since King Toryyg was killed, and the Reach torn asunder long before then. I believe it would be to everyone's benefit if we all recognized the Forsworn as their own political entity." Rikke: "General Tullius, I must remind you that officially Jarl Elisif does have the final say on this matter. Regardless of opposing viewpoints at this summit, sir." Delphine: "I don't know. It could work, if whoever controlled the Reach negotiated with the Forsworn for trade agreements and such. This is a bit outside my own expertise, but, I know a thing or two about embattled groups seeking safety from aggressors." Ulfric: "Damn it. Very well...if we trade the Rift for control of the Reach, we will recognize the sovereignty of the Forsworn city states. I will make that an official term for the handover of power. However, the Reach itself will be ruled by the new Jarl. And the new Jarl will swear fealty to me." Tullius: "It's agreed, then. If you don't mind, I'll request that Jarl Igmund transfer to your court in order to advise you on this matter, Ulfric." Ulfric: "If he accepts, we will value his knowledge." Galmar: "By Talos. What a mess." Esbern: "Try to look at it this way. Madanach is already dead, yes? If the Forsworn accept the terms of this agreement, mediated by the Dragonborn I would imagine, they are already divided and cannot form a cohesive counter offensive at this time. The rebellion is contained and they gain limited independence at the same time. I'm confident this will work." Ulfric: "They will accept the terms or be wiped out. It is as simple as that." Tullius: "That's what I was afraid of. Although I would have ended up in the same position, myself." (There was a lot more depth to the political landscape in Skyrim than it appeared, and I really wanted more hypothetical options like this one during the Civil War negotiations.)

@@a.j.carter2294 I would have pictured the ensuing city state degree to give rise to several smaller settlements and a couple of bigger towns, similar to Hold Capitols. They could be inhabited by regular NPCs (although exclusively Reach Bretons) and the only Forsworn remaining would serve as the town Guards. As an added bonus, there would be shopkeepers and no one would be hostile until a crime was committed against them. There might also be a unique set of laws and punishments for Forsworn settlements, like the Orc Strongholds do. Larger settlements could have a "temple" with a couple of Hagravens and a Briar-Heart, inside. Although community leaders might be normal people.

I just figured something out. Oblivion is like a metaphor for creative daydreaming. While Mundus is a metaphor for a creative project being actualized. Where you have to get bogged down in mundane and boring details, collaborate with others and challenge yourself. Its mundane and Its frustrating but in the end. You'll feel more accomplished and you'll have an experience that you can and have shared with others. But you'll get bogged down, you'll get responsibilities. Still the reward is sweeter.
This gives me an idea for a Forsworn build. Werewolf with the armor you get for siding with Madanach at the end of the Forsworn conspiracy quest... Seems dece.
Are there any Aedric spirits they worship? I know in Skyrim there were shrines to Dibella I think that had bloody sacrifices on them. I have seen some argue they are defiling Aedric shrines. But as you mentioned in the video they worship the other Daedra with sacrificing goats and other animals.

She is the original and infinite darkness that is the patroness of decay, and these ideas extend into the metaphysical too. She is a deity, after all. She plagues on the decay of morality, morale, spirit (sense of self), inspiration, and motivation. Interesting how Khajit and Reachmen have different perspective on same story of Lorkhan association with Namira. @@tomc.5704 The creation of Mundus as first Dragon Break, that makes much sense to me and is now my headcanon. Thanks!

@@spikymarshmallow7611
Probably Logrolf; Molag Bal says the priest stops by regularly to perform rights and purifications on Bal's shrine and mace.

I enjoy the conflict. During conflict, business can be profitable.
Also, when there's conflict, no one has the time to, look for us.
Hail, Sithis.
If the Empire was smart, they’d hash out a deal with the Reachmen to gain help with the Stormcloaks rebellion by promising autonomous rule.
@@stunner9005 quite the opposite,
firstly, the point of the reachmen is they are everything the stormcloaks claim to be but with the stormcloaks pointing them as villainous without any sense of irony
Secondly what your suggesting; a semi autonomous reach is accualy worse then if windhelm got its complete independence since it cuts skyrim and the empire off from all the gold mines leading to an economic collapse all the while leaving the reach being commanded by hag ravens and briarhearts
Thirdly, from a political standpoint it doesn't matter which territory rebels since any rebellion if successful lays the seeds for the next one; so if the marcarth becomes independent so will windhelm, and then dawnstar and winterhold , riften will once meaven starts seeing dollar signs, all these rebellions will force whiterun to open up to the empire just to avoid the raiding turning whiterun into a constant warzone just so the empire can try and hold solitude but can't due to being attacked on all sides and no money to pay troopes
And that's not even getting into what will happen if the stormcloaks win... and then ulfric dies. who takes over after he dies, probably not someone with his wisdom and charisma and whose only thought is "kill all the non nords"
Yeah, except for two factors;
1) All the silver in the reach would rightfully be owned by the natives, not the Imperials.
This video was excellently timed. I'm running DND based off elder scrolls and the players are about to interact with the reach men
I still think it would of been cool if the people of the reach still had control over it and you had to try and get them to pick a side in the civil war just for them to join as a third party on their own, attacking both stormcloaks and imperials when weak (after a long battle) right after the battle of whiterun for example

Skyrim people were never oppressed in a sense that for example Irish people were. Stormcloack Rebellion had risen mainly because of a dispute over the throne of Skyrim, it's not an independence war fought because of an oppression like it was with the IRA and like it is with Forsworn. If I go with game design in my future I want to make a reach men mod actually getting in depth with them in the next game. The hunting lands is litterly the perfect place to build a boss filled wonderland of challenges
Old comment but not if tes 6 is in hammerfel
Whilst I understand the reachmen have been in hammerfel I doubt by now that any of them still actually practice the old ways like the forsworn they've all probably assimilated into foreign cultures
Yet Reachmen don't seem to live up to their ideology of survival when they willingly choose to not do everything in their strength to be self-sufficient.
the reachmen dont worship the old gods, they just want to keep their woman in skimpy armor

Ulfric: "I still find it hard to believe that we're allowing Elenwen to remain seated at this summit. This is sacred ground no one should tread upon unless they're willing to cleanse their boots of blood and their soul of old grudges..."
Elenwen: "That is why we are all here, if I'm not mistaken."
Rikke: "Enough, please. We cannot afford to be sidetracked right now. General Tullius?"
Tullius: "Yes, I've read through the initial demands and proposals submitted by Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak and his compatriots within the ruling class of Skyrim. Jarl Laila Law-Giver of Riften has expressed her willingness to abdicate if the Empire is able to meet the terms of an equal exchange. Though according to the available documentation, those terms are fully open to negotiation."
Elisif: "Personally I'm shocked that it would even appear so easy."
Galmar: "Hmph. It won't be."
Ulfric: "If we give up the Rift, we want the Reach in return. One of the Silver-Blood clan would sit on the Mournful Throne."
Tullius: "You would have to be crazy to want that Hold in it's current state! I'll disclose that the Empire values those lands for the silver it produces and exports, but every other trade avenue is disrupted. If it weren't for this Civil War we would have sent a couple of Legions to quell the Forsworn, already."
Ulfric: "A war within a war. Yes, that region of Skyrim has always proven problematic, but while our forces aren't occupied with the Imperial Legion we can dedicate half of them towards dealing with the Forsworn. More manpower than you'd be able to muster on short notice. It would help everyone involved."
Esbern: "If I might interject. I believe the Dragonborn may have a unique insight on the subject and could offer another solution."
Delphine: "That's right. He owns a residence in Markarth, if I'm not mistaken."
Tullius: "This ought to be interesting. I'm willing to hear almost any ideas at this point."
Galmar: "Ha! Interesting indeed. From what intelligence we have, the Dragonborn killed old Madanach, himself."
Elenwen: "What? The Thalmor have not confirmed any of these events, yet. Although there has been increased Forsworn activity within Markarth."
Tullius: "You might want to look into who you have stationed in Markarth. Anyway. Dragonborn, you're one of Jarl Igmund's Thanes. What input can you offer for all of this?"
Dragonborn: "Every major Forsworn Redoubt can function as their own city state. If we grant the native people independence to that end, I would support the Stormcloaks holding the Reach."
Tullius: "That is outrageous! If we allowed that, there would be a fractured Hold on the verge of collapse on the doorstep of the provincial Capitol!"
Ulfric: "I have to agree with Tullius. If the Reach does fall under my sphere of influence, I can tell you right now, the Stormcloaks will crush the Forsworn! Not offer an olive branch of truce."
Galmar: "Could it be due to the Dragonborn's bloodline that he offers this proposal? He is a Breton, though not native to Skyrim."
Elenwen: "I will commit whatever Thalmor I can spare towards assisting whomever controls the Reach in neutralising the Forsworn."
Ulfric: "No one asked you, Witch!"
Elisif: "The Dragonborn is right."
Tullius: "Jarl Elisif? You agree with his proposal?"
Elisif: "Yes, I do. Skyrim itself has been fractured ever since King Toryyg was killed, and the Reach torn asunder long before then. I believe it would be to everyone's benefit if we all recognized the Forsworn as their own political entity."
Rikke: "General Tullius, I must remind you that officially Jarl Elisif does have the final say on this matter. Regardless of opposing viewpoints at this summit, sir."
Delphine: "I don't know. It could work, if whoever controlled the Reach negotiated with the Forsworn for trade agreements and such. This is a bit outside my own expertise, but, I know a thing or two about embattled groups seeking safety from aggressors."
Ulfric: "Damn it. Very well...if we trade the Rift for control of the Reach, we will recognize the sovereignty of the Forsworn city states. I will make that an official term for the handover of power. However, the Reach itself will be ruled by the new Jarl. And the new Jarl will swear fealty to me."
Tullius: "It's agreed, then. If you don't mind, I'll request that Jarl Igmund transfer to your court in order to advise you on this matter, Ulfric."
Ulfric: "If he accepts, we will value his knowledge."
Galmar: "By Talos. What a mess."
Esbern: "Try to look at it this way. Madanach is already dead, yes? If the Forsworn accept the terms of this agreement, mediated by the Dragonborn I would imagine, they are already divided and cannot form a cohesive counter offensive at this time. The rebellion is contained and they gain limited independence at the same time. I'm confident this will work."
Ulfric: "They will accept the terms or be wiped out. It is as simple as that."
Tullius: "That's what I was afraid of. Although I would have ended up in the same position, myself."

As an added bonus, there would be shopkeepers and no one would be hostile until a crime was committed against them. Also Hagravens are connected with Hircine and some theorize they are were-folk, just like werewolves and werebears.
Last time I was this early, Hjalti was still alive!
This is the FudgeMuppet video I've been waiting for! Always been interested in The Old Gods
Gotta wonder how they view the Aedra.
The forsworn. The bane of many an inquisitor build.
I’m a werewolf player in Skyrim, and it would’ve been so cool if I could join the Forsworn they would accept me and I could be a amazing hunter for them. Even for non-werewolf players having ten option to join them would’ve been so cool
i feel like i've been waiting for bethesda to release this lore since skyrim came out. great video guys!
The Reach is so beautiful. I like to roleplay as an orc and make like a goat along ridge lines. very cool to look at the Sky-lines :3
Amazing as always 👏👏👏
Loving the Skyrim vids! Great work!
Sheogorath would be the God of invention, imagination, art and the risk of madness for detacting from the physical world.
Reachfolk be howling at the moon and smoking mushrooms to conjure spirits
Sounds like a good time to me
A Reachman Shepgorath would literally be the Wendigo
Fudge is our EpicNate from across the pond in America ❤
The Reach for Reach-folk.
Do you think you could do a video on the Vampires of ESO
I really do appreciate it to you, keep it up my man
I dunno who but the Forsworn remind me of Celts lmao
The thumbnail looks like Mergo's Wetnurse from Bloodborne.
To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.
I think you mean that the other way around
@@HG-wl2fm yeah lol it’s the other way around.
Dibella is most likey a fertility goddess to them, blessing the mothers with lots of milk and strong children.
Such fertility goddess are extremely common for tribal people, whos culture is so dependant on having a stronger next generation.
Less than an hour ago. GIVE ME THE LORE
If forsworn revere Hircine, shouldn't wearing the savior's hide make them respect you as a superior predator?
Or. Kill you in his name and claim the artifact, proving that they are the superior hunter.
@@gaminreasons8941 probubly both. You have people respecting you, but gunslinger syndrome is in full effect.
After all hircine also likes when the hunter becomes the hunted.
@@gaminreasons8941 Ha!
Let them come
Because Bethesda says 'haha look at all the bandit reskins we can pump out!'
In a lot of places in the Reach I see Dibella statues decorated in all the gory Forsworn regalia. What's her role in all this?
I believe the Forsworn just defile the shrines just to insult there “invaders” religion.
@@arandompigeon1031 Yet that is similar how they provide sacrifices to the Daedra. Perhaps Dibella is a fertility goddess in their religion?
Dibella is the god of beauty, music and art, all things that the reachmen likely despise as they see them as soft and weak. They probably enjoy defiling them and I am sure the daedric prince of revulsion and decay would favor those who defile the aspects of beauty.
@@jacksonmacpherson6101 true, but sge is also worshiped as a goddess of sex, and yes as a fertility goddess by some.
I could see them gaving a far more wild interpritation of her then those pansy imperials. After all we know the old nords had diffrent ideas about the divines before the imperial cult took over.
Why can't the people of the reach?
In Ancient Greece, the Spartans believed Artemis (the goddess of the Hunt) could also take the form of an animalistic, many-breasted fertility goddess.
The reach belongs to the Foresworn!
SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE GOURDS!
Reachmen worships Mara And Dibella too
2 of the pantheons in old gods are Aedra
Me: time to see who you really are! (takes off the Reachmen culture's mask)
Reachmen:
Me: Mandalorian Jenkins!
Bethesda: and I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for those damn lore lovers
(I know it wasn't a direct rip-off but they do indeed have similar vibes, the difference is the Reachmen focus on survival rather than combat)
I don't ever think Namira was ever casted into a kitchy niche if gross crawly things. She is the original and infinite darkness that is the patroness of decay, and these ideas extend into the metaphysical too. She is a deity, after all. She plagues on the decay of morality, morale, spirit (sense of self), inspiration, and motivation. I always think back to The Beggar Prince story and recoil at the dark and twisted acceptance of poverty and being decrepit. Not that these things in & of themselves are evil, they are low conditions that no one ever wants to be, but the desire to become, be, and stay those things is truly repugnant & evil to a T. To be poor in spirit like that is a fate worse than anything Molag could subject you to. It's twisted, dark, and that's how YOU decay. If you do nothing to take care of yourself, and are at the mercy of the FEW others that even see or notice you, then is there even a you anymore? The Prince and many others sacrificed themSELVES to the ideology of Namira and that truly the most disgusting thing
Lore question! How does the idea of Aedra living in mundus in an incomprehensible state of sentience work with us MEETING Tsun in Sovngarde?
REACH FOR THE REACHMEN!
Weird getting to a fudgemuppet video in the first hour
