Aww. It's those exact cappies I want! 🥰
They were out of stock last I looked but they are super cute. One of the few sets where I like the novelty keycaps.
And they sound great too, if you replace it with cherry profile keycaps the sound will be vastly different from what you’ve heard in this video.
God damn that sounds good :O
Polyfill sounds so good! I always do it nowadays
And it’s cheap and easy!
Just got done mod mine to no flex might take out foam like you did try something else. Sounds good right now I think I can make it better lol. Great keyboard omg very heavy. Gave a like and sub friend.
Nice! Experiment around with the mods to fit your preference!
@@MechWhisper yeah
I also used polyfil for two of my M1. Instead using the tape came with the keyboard, I used 2 layers blue masking tape. I got a pretty creamy sound out of them. ASA keycaps, Ajazz kiwi and Feker panda.
Thanks for sharing! 🍻
Thank you for this build. I was searching and searching for a thock build for the M1W since I'm planning to buy one. Is this the barebones version or the one with the cs pianos?
Thoughts on having the cs pianos pro for the main switches or do I get a more thocky switch?
I bought the kit, the switches in the video are lubed KTT Kang Whites. I have never tried CS pianos though. I made another video with this same keyboard using KTT strawberry switches, imo they are pretty thocky too.
Link to that video: ua-cam.com/video/inrYMsyQjJE/v-deo.htmlsi=niIH2_Rg8EtWowu-
I was considering other keyboard options before, but the build quality is really important to me and so I think this is the first real board for me.
It seems to sound good stock and has a lot of potential to get even better. 🙌
Hey! Have you tried the KTT Kang White V3 or the Jwick Full Nylon Black 2 with your keyboard? I am trying to decide between the two for my M1W as well. Looking for a poppy/marbly sound from the switches.
Excellent video, btw. You have convinced me to get a BOW keycap set as it looks so cool!
Hey, I know it's too late but I am going answer anyway. I've tried both KTT kang white V3 and JWICK full nylon Black V2. Both switches are good but Kang white is better when it comes to housing and stem wobble. Soundwise, Jwick Black is better to me. If you will to take the JWick blacks, you might have to film and lube them. Jwick blacks are deep and clacky sounding. Kang whites are poppy and clacky deep sounding. Whites come with progressive springs (you may or may not like those). Whites just need lubing. Hope this helps.
@@BigDomDaddy Hey, thanks for the reply. I will get the KTT Whites as I want the poppy sound. In fact, just placed the order based on your comment. I might lube them but gosh, I really don't wanna go through that shit. It takes so much time but I guess it will pay off!
Hey! The one you see in this video is using the KTT Kang White V3 (hand lubed) :)
Is there any sound difference using the polyfil vs the case foam provided? Or is it moreso used for just the feel of the keyboard for the gasket (assuming tape mod applied as well for either)
There would be some subtle difference, but I’d say it’s more for the flex/softer typing experience. With the tape mod I think the difference would be even less.
Hey! For your stabs are you using durock v2? And if so did you do anything special besides standard lubing process ?
Hey! Those are the stabs which came with the kit, just lubed them with permatex dielectric grease :)
@@MechWhisper would you say dielectric grease is better than krytox for stabs in your experience? I ordered durocks because i heard the monsgeek stabs were bad. I’ve never used dielectric grease before! Thanks for the reply as well :)
@@shomiixothe main reason I bought dielectric grease is because it’s cheap 😅 but I think it’s decent, gets rid of a lot of the rattles. You’ll have to experiment to find out which suits you best!
Hey, awesome video!
I am wondering which polyfil you bought?
I am located in Germany for logistic sake.
Thank you! Glad the video was helpful. As for the polyfill, I ordered it from AliExpress, it is US $3.16 for 50g and it has free shipping to Germany. I'll included a link to the page in the description if you're interested to purchase from there.
@@MechWhisperhello! is it okay to use polyfill from my old pillows? :D
I can’t decide whether I should do polyfill mod or use noico car dampening instead. I like how the M1 sounds with polyfill but maybe with noico it might sound even better.
What would you recommend?
I’ve not tried the car sound dampener on this keyboard, if I have the chance to try it I’ll let you know!
@@MechWhisper thanks a lot. Generally speaking, what sound profile does car dampening create compared to polyfill? I‘m really new into all of this and I‘m trying to build my first keyboard. I hope you can help me with your experience
All the mods , now it sounds like LEOBOG Hi75 with Building Block V2 Tactile Switch
I got my own monsgeek m1w, the difference is I got the v3 and it comes with no gold side accent, better knob (comes just right off and it has a floating design) and I think the stabs of this version is pretty good, the lube is all over the place and I dont sense case ping, I wonder what mods should I do with this beauty. I use gateron milky reds and stock rk keycaps from my old keyboard (new one is incoming)
What kind of sound profile are you after?
@@MechWhisper my build sounds clacky enough. I might want to add creamyness to it, I'm still figuring out what mods to do since its all stock
Hello, what is the best stabilizer? The preinstalled purple or the tpu double shot?
TPU double shot with lube
The stock purple stabs that come with M1W aren’t great, esp. the spacebar it rattles even after lubing, further adjustments are needed.
I never liked the tape mod as it mostly makes the board louder, which is not my thing. It would have been really great to hear what this board would sound like without it. For my taste, I think I would like it better!
Nice to hear your opinion!
I agree, I think tape mod is overrated. I have 3 keyboards, and constantly kept trying different tape mods. It does change the sound of the keyboard more than any other mode, but it never makes it sound better.
Any risk of fire hazard ? Seen none of the M1W mod videos from all youtube give a warning about it. I did tape mod and polyfill on my M1W yersterday hope It's fine.
There’s a risk, but I consider it as low :)
Nice video man. What keycaps are those?
Ah nvm, found em. Thanks
Glad you found them! If I’m not wrong they are called the milk theme keycaps, XDA profile (just in case anyone else is wondering too).
ty@@MechWhisper
what about stock (without force break mod)? do you hear a lot of "pings"?
Nope, I didn’t hear any difference actually, with or without the force break mod
@@MechWhisper thank you! appreciate it. Recently bought a M3W and will be fitting it with Sillyworks Hyacinth v2! Wasn't too confident to do any mod since this would be my first keyboard, so glad to know that there is no / minimal difference if any
@@changtesheng2785 no problem! Just lubing the stabs should be good enough as all the foams are included, unless you want it to be foamless :)
@@MechWhisper for M3W it comes with "plate mounted stabilisers". So to a layperson like me, it looks "built-in". Do I have to remove them to lube it?
@@changtesheng2785 you can either use a syringe to inject the lube into the stabs or take them out to lube them. I recommend the latter for best results. Plate mounted stabs, unlike screw-in stabs, can be removed without disassembling the keyboard. Just look for some tutorials on UA-cam and you should be good to go!
is it okay opening the keyboard without disassembling the switches and keycaps??
Yes it's ok, say if you just wanna do the tape mod.
@@MechWhisper what about the force break mod?
What keycaps are those?
Hi, those are XDA profile milk theme keycaps
Original sounds much better, but this is just my personal taste preference. It's easy to overdo it with the tape mod and get this really ugly basy carboard-box sound on the bottom row.
I agree, there's never a universally "best-sounding" keyboard. Ultimately, our personal preferences should guide our choices based on what appeals to our ears.
is the KTT Kang White switch v4?
V3, there’s a v4 now?
I think there is v4 now but not very sure @@MechWhisper
@@MechWhisperIs it necessary to remove case foam to put in polyfill, or can just use both of them? And for the IXPE switch pad, did u try to replace it with normal pe foam or pe switch pad?
@@KhoWengKhai if you want the flex you should remove the foam, the PE foam used in this build was just the stock one that they included.
@@MechWhisper i see... will it sounds more thockier if I replace the IXPE switch pad with PE switch pad and replace the case foam with polyfill too. Just assume tape mod and force break mod are ready.
