  • This language is indigenous to the Canary Islands, today part of modern-day Spain. The language today only exists in Canary Island Spanish lexicon and topography and some Canarian names. It was spoken until the 16-17th centuries as the islands were taken over by the Spanish and the language was neglected and eventually became dormant. There have been inscriptions found in caves, mountains and on rocks all across the Canaries which have breathed new hope into figuring out what this mysterious language or language family was. . .
It is said to be related to the continental Amazigh languages but also has Arabic loan words, and a sizeable lexicon of unknown origin. When the Canarians did write the language(s?) they wrote in a localized, unique variety of an ancient Tifinagh script.

I saw in one academic paper that it had a lot of Chadic borrowings, as well as some from Egyptian.

If you want to reconstruct the very old primitive guanche, then you have to take the proto afroasian and afroasian and merge with all the other afro-Asiatic languages mentioned pro me above plus the Gomero Silbo excluding the Spanish of course hugs.❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you for your comment and for watching. I hope someone else can perform this reconstruction work someday and hopefully revive the language but I am just someone who researches videos on rarer languages. My channel isn’t focused on only Guanche. My subscribers voted this language in a poll so I researched what I could made a video on it.

Friend, I saw your entire video and reviewed the data on the Guanche or Tșakănit language, this language is Afro-Asiatic and Berbère and it was a cosmopolitan, polyglot, hybrid language, why? Ancient Guanche was a Punic Phoenician dialect, then Middle Guanche was influenced by Chadic, Berber, Tamazight, and in the final phase it received influence from Middle Coptic when Egypt was already Hellenized and Romanized. It is an Afro-Asiatic language.
The Quanche people were assimilated by the Spanish, and unfortunately lost their language, and in modern times they became speakers of the Island Spanish spoken in the USA Louisiana and the Canary Islands.
The language of whistles Silbo Gomero preserved all the sounds of Guanche or Tșakănit.
For you to reconstruct this language you have to merge Silbo Gomero into a single language with Canaanite Phoenician, Punic, Middle and Late Coptic, Chadic and Tamazight and merge everything into a single language and the result will be classic Guanche.
But the culture of the Guanche language is in Brulé and Isleno Spanish, the social and cultural content of this entire Spanish has to be translated into Chadic, Coptic, Berber, Phoenician, Punic and Silbo Gomero and Tamazight.
The Guanche people left descendants in Louisiana, so the United States would have to repatriate these Guanche descendants to the Canary Islands with this reconstructed language and culture and with professional and economic activities created by the USA in the Canary Islands for these Louisiana Guanches.
It is possible to recover the ancient Guanche culture, but we have to recover and repatriate the Guanche people in the south and southwest of the USA to the Canary Islands, with them developing a labor and tourist market there.
Then we would have to govern with the United States federal ministry of culture and education to carry out all this conversation that we are having now, but it is possible.
Hugs for success in this mission.
