Hi I beg for any help please :) I'm having troubles with my Yamaha xvs 125 Dragstar Carburetor. Need him to replace. By the research Virago and dragstar supposed to have same carburetor ( Mikuni BDS 26 ) but this original one is not anymore on the market. There are some options to buy some other replacements but in all cases it says it only fit to the virago 125/250. So now I'm not sure If I can try to use this one or rather not. Original bds 26 comes with some sort of cable with 3 pin slot that supposed to be connected with the bike but there new replacements does'nt have it. Would that be a problem? Also These replacement carburetors does not have a chope fitting asi BDS 26. Please if you got any knowledge .. :) Thanks a lot for any advice

You have a fitment problem. The original carburetor for XV125/250 Virago and the one for XVS250 Dragstar aren't exactly switchable. These bikes got the same engine with some cosmetic differences, but the intake system (air cleaner location and the path for the air) are completely different. Take a look at these:
      XVS250 carburetor : www.bike-parts-yam.com/yamaha-motorcycle/250-MOTO/2001/DRAGSTAR/XVS250/CARBURETOR/73_7280-7280/B9/0/35235
      XVS250 Intake : www.bike-parts-yam.com/yamaha-motorcycle/250-MOTO/2001/DRAGSTAR/XVS250/INTAKE/73_7280-7280/B8/0/35235
      XV125 carburetor : www.bike-parts-yam.com/yamaha-motorcycle/125-MOTO/1997/VIRAGO/XV125/CARBURETOR/66_6613-6613/B9/0/33461
      XV125 Intake : www.bike-parts-yam.com/yamaha-motorcycle/125-MOTO/1997/VIRAGO/XV125/INTAKE/66_6613-6613/B8/0/33461
I don't know exactly what's wrong with your carburetor but you may either:
1, Retain the original XVS250 carburetor and just replace the bad components inside
2, Find the used carburetor on Ebay or relative trading sites
3, Bring it to the shop
It's very hard for me to find the solution for your bike without actually looking at it...

@@motorpsycho2989 Thank you very much for you reply. Much appreciated mate.
But there has been a little misuderstanding. I have Yamaha XVS Dragstar 125 wich is using original carburetor Mikuni BDS 26. And as find in owners manual Yamaha Virago 125 Is using BDS 26/1 wich shouble be almost the same. Exept 3 slot pin cable for timing adjusment and different choke cable fitting. But Intake holes does fit with Dragstar caburetor exact the same. So to me this seems like they should fit the same no issues. For Dragstar I just would need different choke cable that would fit this carburetor. Timing adjustment is not that mandatory or is it?

You may be able to run the engine with the throttle sensor disconnected but the consequences are unknown so you have to do it at your own risk. I believe your engine will still run but it's possible that you have some issues in future such as engine warning indicator on, disapproval on emission tests(depends on the model year & country), engine running too rich/lean and so on.
The fitment issue still remains. The float chamber and the diaphragm are on the opposite sides so you have to do a lot of tweaking & jamming to make it work since the air cleaner for XVS is just right next to it.

Hi, Im having trouble removing the damper rod bolt.
For some reason it seems not to want to come out. I'm able to hold the damper rod still and crack the damper rod bolt. I can spin it freely with the damper rod. With some pressure applied to the bolt or damper rod, either one moves. I can also hear something move inside. What may have gone wrong?

I'm sorry to hear that you are having some troubles. I don't know exactly what you did nor how you did so I cannot help you with that unless I see the actual thing. Try bringing it to your local Yamaha.
