Should do a video where Alyssa goes to a performance driving school. I would love to see her on a skid pad.
I just got a model 3 performance a month ago, and compared to my wife's 2019 Tesla Model 3, it feels a lot quieter and more solid like a luxury car. They have improved on that.
Is it the same performance model?
@@arthurchoi8080 What do you mean?
i thought so too at the beginning but then the same rattles were back and after 30 000 miles it feels pretty much the same as my 2019 older model. Maybe its a tiny bit quieter from the thicker front windows but not by much. Tesla is still king because of range and power anyways
so i wouldnt have it any other way
@@teslasnek 2019 model 3 is also a performance one?
@@arthurchoi8080 No, long range RWD (before they discontinued them)
Loved Alyssa as the “prop” indicating hard braking, accelerating and turning!!!! What a trooper! I’d be puking all over the place.
The BMW is better, since now it will cross 3 lanes without a blinker autonomously, fully emulating a BMW driver.

So true

Much more appreciation for the Model 3 now that he has the Plaid.
Great information about both rides. Nice job as always!
Model 3 performance at full charge output 429 ish kw (2019). I don’t understand why Kyle don’t know this. And everyone knows that 429 kw is fare more than 450~500 hp
I love ur reviews and I only watched 3 of them. Good content, I am definitely subscribing after watching this one.
I’m just impressed how well your mic filtered out the wind :)
Wild to think just a few years ago people joked EVs we're just slow golf carts and now we have M3P and Model S plaid. Looking forward to seeing where EVs are in another 10 years.
Don’t expect them to get much quicker. Traction will be the limiting factor for acceleration. Quicker vehicles will require race slicks, you cannot drive on the road in slicks. Also the model s plaid isn’t to environmentally friendly with tires needing replacement every 15-20K miles.

the video we all needed, thank you out of spec reviews.
It always makes my day better to hear “Hello and welcome back to a out of spec video”
I agree that the Out of Spec reviews have gotten to be must sees.
I just wanted to clarify something Kyle says in the video. Is he comparing the stock M3P to the i4 M50?
I just bought an M3P after my BMW dealer told me my i4 M50 would be coming sometime in Q1 2023. I am still on the waiting list for the BMW, and have until my production # is assigned to let that go. I've really enjoyed the M3P, but I do feel that the interior lets in a ton of cabin noise, and I'm not sure if it's because there is no engine noise. I suspect not. I think I'd like the car a lot more if I could get it quieter, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to do that (especially in the Boston area) I'd love to know.
The real winner is that damn microphone. The strong winds didn’t even phase it
Would you say the polestar 2 with the performance pack and performance upgrade a more engaging drivers car compared to the m50?
A little confused about the difference between current rear-drive platform Model 3 vs Performance in terms of suspension tuning and in terms of dynamics. Can you get the tail loose at all in an awd Performance model in any setting?
Yes, in track mode, set power 100% to the back motor.
I’m not sure I understand the question. The performance model 3 is AWD. It has been for years now. But in track mode you have the option to send the power wherever you want, whether it’s the front or back motors. But you have to be in track mode for this. Otherwise it handles as an AWD car unless you specifically tell it you want it to drive as FWD, RWD, etc.
Now that you're keeping the model 3, are you going to get the cracked glass replaced?
Also, what's up with Alyssa's mom's VW? You mentioned earlier that she was having issues with it.
Launch control has its purpose. You hold the car as it builds boost (at least with ICE) and car calculates how much traction the wheels are getting and then sets the optimum launch HP/TQ.
I love the rims on your M3P what make and model are they?
I have an i4 on order as of three months ago. Not so sure your comments about the BMW regen when backing off the throttle are correct. My understanding through other reviews is that BMW provides several choices on the level of regen braking, including an adaptive setting. If you don't like that instant feedback, you can dial it back. Further, it looks like Tesla has removed the equivalent capability from the Model 3, entirely. I would also add that most reviews point to the RWD BMW i4 as being better balanced than the M50 and the general driving experience superior to the Model 3 for both. I had the opportunity to drive a Model Y (my other buying choice along with an EV-6) and I found the ride to be harsh and the interior underwhelming.
Correct. For the i4 you can turn off auto braking, having it on a default middle setting, or select "B" for one foot driving.
He had the I4 on "B" which is one pedal driving the whole time he was complaining it was jerky..... Well duh!!
@@puerco911…and exactly THAT is the whole problem 🤘
How have you been enjoying your i4? I got the i4 M50 (aired on my channel) and I talked a bit about my decision to pay more for the M50 than the M3P. And I have ZERO regrets. I have driven both and I'm not losing one second of sleep over my decision. The M3P is a very good car but the overall experience of daily driving the BMW is better. I'm not racing the car at the track or going hard all day on twisty roads. As an every day normal driving car, it's a better overall experience. Cheer!
I'm looking at the video and he has a 'D' on the dash most of I the time. He does, however, have the energy recovery set to High (as indicated by the three illuminated arrows in the regen section of the power bar). So letting off on the accelerator is going to induce a lot of drag (not true one-pedal driving, but close to it).
I love the i4 even though I drive a Model 3 P. I found the Model 3 twitchy on the German autobahn at over 150km/hr. I’m sure the i4 is superior at high speeds. Any advice on how to optimize the Model 3 for high-speed driving? I haven’t tested track mode yet.
Dude your missus is super uncomfortable with your driving. You should've done this test on your Pat Malone
Great review. Thanks for sharing.
How would you compare Polestar 2 (Dual Motor Performance) with those cars?
I’ve driven the polestar 2, model Y, and model 3, and comparing them I’d say the polestar feels slower than the LR Y, but it definitely handles better than the Y performance. However, model 3 is still better. Polestar as a lot more weight and you feel it on the corners.
What’s the best M3P year to get?
Please, do tell, what modifications are you making to make it ‘crazy fast’?
In my old Z4, ESP off is also "kind of off", then I can hold "ESP off" for like 5-6 seconds, and it will actually turn it off. I wonder if it's something similar here
Very rarely do I ever watch UA-cam videos after 10 minutes due to losing interest however out of spec is the only channel I can watch past 10 minutes. Thanks for the amazing content!

How does one overclock the AC compressor on a 2018-2020 3 Performance?
Enable track mode. It’s a toggle switch near the bottom of the track mode screen.
BMW still the best in quality and handling then Tesla . I have model 3 now, but I also had BMW before. Not a single car gave me that bmw feeling🤙🤙
Model 3 won Pikes Peak so if you want a budget EV for performance that's the one. That BMW is Plaid priced and we know that car smashes on the track in curves and straight line.

the quality of the BMW is way beyond what tesla is producing right now.
@@mathieusturkenboom I agree. O drove the first i4m50 in Houston and was really impressed with the quality but it just dod not drive as sharp as the P3D. Totally agree with Kyle.
@@JustTIC totally agree...the one thing id say is that I think the model 3 seats are actually more comfortable...bmw seats felt too stiff...so even though the bmw i4 felt more premium for sure on the inside, it was actually less comfortable to sit in. Also don't like that there is a gear selector, on off switch, and touch pad by the center console...its just unecessary and a waste of space...much more storage space on the inside on a model 3 and all that stuff is on a simple stalk, which makes much more sense. I don't like buttons for the sake of trying to be premium.
absolutely agree with your conclusion, yet we sold the 2022 M3P and kept the i4 M50 :D Why? Just because in 95% "regular" daily driving situations BMW wins out. For that 5% occasional back road fun... the i4 M50 is plenty enough, but agreed - you still do miss out on the playfulness of the M3P
Isn't that car more expensive than the M3P? What about service?
@@ev.c6 If your car is under warranty you cannot beat BMW service. There are BMW dealerships everywhere as well. The closest Tesla dealership to me is three hours away.
Robba Keef and if your car is out of warranty it’s literally the worst car to get serviced… lol. That’s the problem with BMWs. They have the best warranties _if_ they’re covered, but out of warranty they’re legitimately the most expensive and error prone brand to own. Something tells me these will sell for a decent discount on the used market 2-3 years from now
You don’t buy an i4 M50 new for it to be out of warranty. And buying one second hand is not exactly an option (or out of warranty). They offer service inclusive for 3-4 years which you can extend. I wouldn’t keep the EV beyond 4 years any way
Very interesting.
Here is Israel it’s actually an easy decision as the i4 M50 costs almost twice the price of Model 3 Performance
@Pedro H How much is USD?
Here the Tesla M3P is 87,000 usd
The i4 M50 is 162,000$

The difference in ambient road noise is astounding between the two. The Tesla 3 is relatively very noisy.
I see the weather is not the only thing bringing the lighting.
Increase your viewpoint coverage by switching drivers to get a different perspective from your wife.
My wife and I are trying to figure out which of the two vehicles to buy. One of our vehicles is the X3 M40i.
One of the two of those vehicles will be our first electric ⚡️ experience.
It really would’ve been more helpful to have your wife drive and just listen to her impressions based on how she wants to drive.
My wife and I drive totally different and we want to experience totally different things from the vehicle. Having your wife’s thoughts and seeing her drive would’ve really connected with my wife as we watch this together.
Great Channel overall…… (umm, my wife needs to see more she said.)
🧐
If you’re used to a BMW, don’t buy a Model 3. I’m 80k miles on my second Model 3…first was totaled in a wreck, so I bought a replacement. I regret it and I’m selling it. The suspension is utter crap. It makes your X3 look like an X7 with air suspension. Seriously. Riding 4 up with my family, we are on the bump stops me my kids are bouncing around the back seat.
The interior quality is a joke compared to BMW. We also have two Porsches and you will not be impressed. The seats, doors, trim are all very thin and light and insubstantial feeling.
Finally, good luck with service. It’s a joke. And yes, EV’s do require fixing.
The good: you won’t get price / performance anywhere near Tesla. They lead. You will get lots of OTA updates although the last 12-18 months are more bug fixes than new features. Supercharging on road trips is unmatched. If you’re long hauling and you want hassle free, Tesla is still the winner by a mile. Especially if your wife doesn’t want to think about it (mine wouldn’t). EV road tripping on the CCS network still requires patience dealing with out of service or low output charging stations. And finally…..Tesla is very easy to use. The UI is straightforward and very “set and forget “. It’s a good beginner EV.
But so is the BMW since it’s more like an ICE car as long as you can charge at home or are adventurous enough to figure out road trip charging.
@@joetacchino4470 my wife is literally walking around saying Thank you, thank you, thank you for the details you responded with and you responded to her concerns that I didn’t even know she had. She told me she wants to drive around town doing her shopping and errands on a full charge and not worry. Ann Arbor MI is our area, (GO BLUE!). I think she is just having anxiety because it’s electric miles and not gas miles in which she is familiar with. We all understand instantly what a half tank of gas means when driving in changing conditions such as, (the driver that seems lost and you have to hurry around then, on-ramps in Michigan is akin to a pole position start in order to perfectly merge between other fast paced Michigan drivers. All of this is opposite the very controlled driving examples we see on YT.
And yes, electrification is about change, and we will adjust and hopefully it’s a fast adjustment curve, getting rid of certain habits that should have been done away with long ago😂.
However, I was leaning Tesla because it’s the original and you had two already, and many Tesla customers repeat because it’s the best sorted out car.
My wife have said the issue is settled with us…. BMW it is.
And I honestly think what you pointed out connected with her when you said, the BMW gives a certain familiarity that she already understands, which is very important to her. Her understanding more about BMW leaves only 50% more in the learning curve, instead of being 100% out of sorts.
Me on the other hand…. I’m ready to get that first 100% charge at home and then go out experiencing running the charge down to 5% as I pull into a charging station. Lol 😂 plus Regen braking. And it seems like the electronics will help with our blinker indicator Usage. Although that seems like a Michigan thing but I could be biased. Lol 😂.

Kyle, are you going to go with an aftermarket set of brakes for the Plaid? Bigger rotors and pads, BBK, or full Carbon ceramics?

Your information on the tax credit is wrong. Yes, they both get the Colorado state tax credit but only the BMW gets the Federal tax credit which can be up to $7,500. The BMW should be about the same or even less after all of the tax credits are factored in and depending on options and dealer markups.
Loving these awesome videos from Out of Spec. All of you are amazing! I do apologize for going out on a rant here in your comments. Once again I am very sorry, I just want to put my views of the two vehicles.
I leased a 2020 model 3 performance, and I've test driven the BMW i4 M50. The i4 is by far faster than model 3 performance, and the i4 is an EV that drives like a real ICE performance car, model 3 performance is just flat out and that's it, also model 3 degrades rapidly every time you floor it, even if your in track mode and then it just straights up goes into a cripple mode. Now the suspension in i4 is way better than model 3 performance, in my 2020 model 3 performance suspension is horrible, it doesn't even matter what mode you have it set to, I'm bouncing up and down out off my seat on the smallest bumps on the roads of Minnesota, when making turns I'm sliding side to side off my seat. Now the i4 if you know how to set the drive modes correctly you can barely feel the bumps no matter how hard you push the i4, and the seats are holding you in place, how is it holding me in place, well it's thanks to it's power adjustable side bolsters, the seats are way more comfortable in the i4, and yes the i4 m50 does make motor sounds, you just can't hear it, because it has active noise cancellation were as the model 3 performance doesn't even have it at all, because I can hear road noise like no tomorrow in the model 3 performance, also the i4 has amazing drive sounds made by famous well known musical sound composer Hans Zimmer! Also brakes are absolutely horrible in the 2020 model 3 performance because when I hit hard brake in track mode it feels like it's not gripping the brake disks rotors and it feels so very loose, hard brake on the i4 m50 and it feels like every other ICE cars and M performance cars. What really ticks me off on Tesla now, is that I no longer get 250kw at a v3 super charger, from a 2% SOC to 80% or 90% SOC the highest I ever get now is 105kw at a 2% SOC to 80% or 90% that is because is truly controlling the charge rate output. Also there is no more tax credit for Tesla regardless of any state, but there still is a tax credit for the bmw i4 m50 or the rwd i40e, and you know what else you get with it 3 years of Free DC charging on any fast DC Charging Network Infrastructure! Also what you are seeing in the BMW iX i4 and future BMW models are now the New i-drive 8
For me everything you said other way around. Model 3 performance brakes way better. steers way better. is faster until 100kmh. 1 year more warranty and i4m50 is at least 15k euros more expensive here.

Max speed of i4 M50 is 140 mph. Regen braking feels differently in the different drive modes. I wonder if you were driving in regen which created the jerkiness. Also, you can customize the idrive screen. I got my i4 because it's a luxury car especially in comparison to a model 3. Not sure what you think is fun. I love my i4. Please don't ignore that BMW has an after market which will quickly be available for the i4. BTW, I don't know anyone that buys a car to drive on a track. LMFAO if you wouldn't buy an expensive BMW to take to the track then you don't know anything about BMW. That M badge means something.
@@rayaan6951 hence I don't have a M BMW. I've owned 4 BMWs and never felt compelled to go to the track nor have I felt the need for increased speed of the M models. I think owning 4 BMWs gives me quite a bit of knowledge about them. The M badge surely does not impress me though I'm aware of how fast they are.
@@VickiStokes Then I'm sure you would understand why BMW's decision to put the M badge on this car brings it into a competition with other performance vehicles. This video isn't about an i4 edrive40, it's about the performance variant.
Acceleration is the MOST important metric, not the least. Why? Because you can use it EVERY DAY, all the damn time. I use the acieration of my model 3 Performance on a daily, blasting off from the green light and weaving around slow drivers. Normal people do not have a race track by their house they can just track on all day, so breaks overheating or not perfect race suspension etc doesn't mean anything to me.
Also what the hell do you two do for money, I'd rather hear about that. A Model 3 performance, a Model S Plaid, an Audi E Tron, previous BMWs, I made 175k last year you are making me feel like I'm a bag boy at a supermarket. is 160k subs really enough money for all those cars?

Sounds a bit more biased since you drive the Model 3 everyday. The i4 is superior in every conceivable way. You have so many more options to make the car drive how you want it to feel. I'd love this review from someone who doesn't drive a M3P everyday.
Superior in every way 🤣🤣🤣
I want to agree with you badly, since I have a fully spec-ed m50 order placed, but the Model 3 Performance is the superior track car. I am genuinely surprised that BMW's M division is losing to Tesla in that department. The M50 has a tendency to be front biased like the reviewers stated, but in something like an M3P, the individual can set the power distribution to whatever they'd like. BMW really needs to step up their software game and give user's more control over the M50 for the car to compete with a M3P on the track. I think they're intentionally holding this car's potential back in lieu of a true iM4 in the future.
@@rayaan6951 nah man. I just took delivery (well it's been about a month) of my M50 and firstly, it's not an "M" car and was never intended to be, so we have to manage our expectations as far as that goes. Secondly, the M50 for certain is more RWD biased and infact the front motors are mostly used to manage traction. I owned a first gen M3P before the M50i so speaking from experience, the I4 just better overall. I think folks who come from a Tesla genuinely feel their car is better because usually it's the first "fast(er)" car they've had and that's it... in real world driving, the i4 is superior. All in my opinion of course.
@@chadmack1633 I really do hope so. It'd be a pity if a Tesla had better handling than a BMW. Mine is coming in around 8 months due to supply chain issues and I'll be driving a Model 3 Performance in the mean time, so I hope that I don't feel that the handling or aggressiveness of the car is dialed back when the i4 arrives.
@@rayaan6951 yea, and not knocking the M3P AT ALL. Its a great car, I just prefer thr i4. It feels more traditionally fun. Heavy, but overall more engaging.
Kyle, what's that on your Tesla's windshield? And another thing...I won't buy a Model 3 because of the slab dash with only a screen in the middle. I much prefer instrumentation in front of the driver also...like the BMW. Now, there's style and class, except for the "beaver-teeth" in the front grille.
With all the price hike from Tesla, do you still think M3P is the best performance for the dollars?
Also worth noting that in the US the BMW still qualifies for the $7500 tax incentive.
All cars are expensive right now, not just tesla, although they are a lot more transparent.
both are nice cars
2012 3 series was the year they ruined their cars. Electric steering was the worst. They did fix it sort of. But I was stuck with the first year model ugh I hated it. We have two Tesla model 3s now.
Agreed. My 2011 335 steering was on point. I loved the way that car drove!
I keep wondering if we're going to see a tornado come down from the sky and whoosh Kyle away.
he'd get a lot of views.
@@mistermister2085 I'd watch multiple times. After he gets swept away, Alyssa hops in her Audi with the dogs to go look for him, but she slides off the muddy road, so calls Jordan, who comes to pick her up in the Rivian, the dogs find Kyle out in a field, and he tells them they're not in Kansas anymore.
So, Tesla M3P is the ultimate driving machine and BMW i50M is the ultimate cruising machine.
The Tesla is built like a base Honda civic compared to the Bimmer. Not even close. Looks like the Trashla have aftermarket wheels/tires
This would be a pretty tough call if given the choice - the BMW is clearly the overall better car, but the Tesla is definitely the better option as a performance car with the aftermarket support and track mode.
how is the BMW the better car overall?? that's clearly the model 3
@@a-don13 comfort and quality
@@brandenflasch tech and convenience and price.
@@a-don13 But the tech isn't really useful in most driving situations. Stuff like that the seats are leather and HUD and displays in the right places matter more than the fact that the Tesla can dance to the music.
@@luckywang141 nah you have to be over 50 cuz ain't no way bruh
60% SOC for this test kind of defeats the purpose. There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between a properly Preconditioned Model 3 Performance at above 90% SOC and a 60% SOC one with track mode enabled which degrades performance considerably.
This isn’t remotely close to what these cars are capable of when properly setup.
bmw does better at lower states of charge too.
I agree with your overall conclusions, but think your review would have benefited from noting that the I4 M50 is not a BMW M car. Their objective was clearly to introduce more of a daily driver than an all-out performance model. Perhaps BMW has plans to offer a true M I4 in the future which would be more of a competitor to the Tesla Model 3 Performance
Okay. I kinda feel for Alyssa. She looked like she was getting just a little car sick. However, she hung in there! I was rooting for you, Alyssa. I hope you are enjoying your e-tron. Audi does make a great car. Excellent review, Kyle.
Thanks Kyle & Alyssa. Nobody seems to be able to toss a car around and explain it as well as you do Kyle. Would love you to do comparisons like this more often. Maybe a follow up on BMW. Maybe they'll be able to fine tune their BEV cars one day from this "NOT the ultimate driving machine." One more thing. BMW's engineers must be pretty bummed out that an American car can do it so much better than this.
I picked up my '22 Model 3P in May and I'm very happy with the suspension tuning. I previously had a '18 Infiniti Q50RS AWD that never felt completely dialed in, suspension-wise. It was too harsh over rougher roads yet it would bottom out creeping over speed bumps unless you put it in sport or sport+. I'm not tracking it and don't plan to, I just wanted a fun to drive car that I can point and shoot and it delivers on that perfectly. It's compliant but not to the point of being squishy or dull, there's plenty of cornering grip for my needs.
yeah it's a q50 lmfao.. i4 beats m3p
@@roboticvenom1935 Mmm, perhaps. The i4 is a very compelling car, I considered it when I was deciding what to buy. I ultimately decided to go with the Tesla because of the more established charging infrastructure, a decision I feel vindicated by now that I’ve owned it for a few months. The non-Tesla charging stations I’ve used are hit or miss…it can be very frustrating. I love my Model 3P. The only negative so far is seeing them all over the place. The i4 would be far more of a rarity in the road, but it’s not that big of a deal. Performance is very close.
the i4 RWD is more fun to drive apparently
would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Maybe like a i4 RWD versus RWD Model 3
According to who? The carwow and RSymons, the two biggest channels to compare them, both said the model 3 has better driving dynamics. Who said the rwd i4 was better? The i4 definitely has some advantages but almost everything I’ve seen has said the model 3 is better in terms of handling, performance and responsiveness
@@philorgneopolotin8762 because bmw you can disable ESC, on the tesla you cant do none of that, except track mode in the m3p, thats one big big reason
A lot of Bimmers can’t accept that fact that M3P beats i4 in terms of handling of fun to drive. After trying both, I’d say his comments are true and honest. M3P does beat i4 in handling but interiors of i4 seem better and more luxurious.
the i4 is also based on a gasoline chassis.. the model 3 is based on an EV groundup chassis.. the i4 won't be so heavy next time and will be way better, more range, performance, interior room and less weight when they use a roundup EV chassis which is proper competition. kia ev6 GT is faster then model Y performance and drives better yet it kia's first attempt!
@@roboticvenom1935 Sorry to hear that BMW's next EV platform won't be a dedicated EV platform because the leadership wanted a versatile platform for hydrogen powers...I see the beginning of the end of another German brand..
@@kaidevir if you think this is the beginning of the end you're off your rockers. BMW already has groundup EV platforms right now, and they're switching all vehicles to it in 1-2 generations.
Stop geeking holy
Heavily disagree I have test drove both. The i4 is faster and handles better.
No surprise here, the BMW is much heavier and extremely traction limited, which is why in all the initial wet tests in Europe, the BMW was extremely hindered, while the Tesla performed almost as good in the wet than dry. At 140 mph the electronic governor kicks in, and it generally cruises at less than 50% throttle to maintain that speed.
both good, i4 better car overall, esp for that lovely interior, infotainment, and exterior
great mic ...and software I guess
I’m confused by your tax credit statement. I thought the Tesla no longer qualified for the federal $7,500 tax credit
I was excited to watch this video because I drove an I4 M50 and thought it was an amazing car, Way better than any Tesla I have ever driven. I wish this video was done by somebody who has not driven either car for any extended period of time though. Different sometimes seems worse when you are used to something else.
Definitely true I was thinking the same thing.
Model 3 literally won Pikes Peak this year for EVs. If you like being slower without track mode, get the BMW.
He has extensive experience in most electric and gas cars. Watch his other videos.
@@RemoteSpeed007 I’ve seen them. That still doesn’t remove the human factor. I’m not saying he is wrong. Just might be biased, most opinions are though
@@ubbyba I don't agree, wait till this heavy beemer, gets on a track, then we will see the difference, especially with no track mode and the extra 900-1000lbs.
The way I see it the M3P is a drivers car, the BM a good tourer.
Tesla is just missing the nice interior finishes
She looks so uncomfortable in the test drive of the Tesla
Interesting comparison. The thing that caught me was that he said that the newer Model 3 needed a suspension upgrade that costs about 10k. That makes the car closer in price to that of the i4. I'm not one to want to visit the track, but I do like to be pampered a bit after all my years of hard work and saving money.
Also forgets to mention that the 7,500 tax credit no longer exists for Tesla, unless if you live in a state that provide some kind of benefit. The BMW will have that credit available to all state. There for, the I4 is cheaper with the credit then the Tesla.
my drive is 30 miles each way nearly straight line up and down the 5 to work and back, so i4...
So, comparing the i4 M50 to a Model 3 performance that you can't get anymore, the M3P that you can't get anymore without replacing the whole suspension (for $8K or so) will win, but the i4 M50 is a nicer overall car with a better build quality, so when comparing creature features, it is a toss-up.
The “Track Mode” option is not good for straight line acceleration because it cools the battery. That degrades the maximum output that the car can do. Track Mode is meant more for reliability than for true performance. Sure it enables drifting but drifting is not good for performance either.
Track mode not only handles battery temps, but also motor temps, specifically the stator. The combination of controlling these temps literally contributes to improved sustained performance and reliability. Drifting ability is for fun, but the ability to adjust stability and handling balance on a sliding scale lets you dial in the car for a specific course or to driver preference. Throw in granular control on regen braking and you have a very nice additional feature set.
I would have liked to seen you do the same with all electronics on. I think most people would drive it that way if they are trying yo have a little bit of fun.
The wind is making the comparison so dramatic 😂
B mode would make the regen to be high
The M3P makes way more than 450 HP. Byorn Nyland has it recorded at over 600 HP, which makes sense as its quicker than the i4 and it had well over 500 HP
see drag videos, after 100 BMW is a lot faster
@@KDR816 the car wow vids I presume you are quoting also put a m3p at 12.0 seconds in the quarter which must be the slowest ever recorded
@@KDR816 Perhaps. But not for long, as its top speed is only 130odd.
@@73henny 140, not 130.
I think I'd take the I4 40 (RWD) over the M50.
Suspect that getting the BMW a) at all (because of limited numbers), and b) at close to MSRP will be impossible.
Ordered i4 in February 2022 and got an allocation for someone that ordered last year. Received my i4 about a week ago. Got at MSRP.
Ordered my i4 three months ago. $53K after the federal tax credit and now $14k less than the Model Y (my alternative buying choice). Great experience with BMW dealer. No markup, no gimmicks.
Took an i4 out of dealer stock. No market adjustment, no hidden fees.
The 130 mph top speed of the i4 is likely due to having base all season tires. Usually the top performance tire option for BMWs raises the limiter to 155 mph. Tesla has the advantage of years of performance EV experience. It sounds like BMW needs to refine the i4 a bit to be truly the Tesla 3 equal.
Hilarious 😂 sacrificing your body for us thank you
